Back in November after Oprah graced the cover of her O Magazine I said that Michelle Obama wouldn’t be far behind.
Fast forward 4 months later and here we have Michelle Obama wearing a black and white sleeveless Prabal Gurung dress with brush painted roses.
You may remember that those floral prints were featured on many pieces which have been worn by Leighton Meester, Thandie Newton and Demi Moore.
Twitter went crazy yesterday as many people sent messages to the designer congratulating him on such a huge achievement.
Michelle wore the dress yesterday to the Smithsonian National Museum of American as her inaugural gown created by Jason Wu was inducted into the museum.
Many people have said that Michelle should’ve worn Jason Wu, but that would’ve been too obvious and I’m glad she used the moment to promote another talented young designer.

Hey Meg, thank you for the shout out x
It was the best oscars in a long time
Normally I struggle to stay awake, but because everyone looked so great it was fun
blah. this look does nothing for me. the hair, the shoes…the dress…boring. P.S. she needs to learn how to stand properly in order to make her outfit look good…
The First Lady isn’t a model! She is a regular woman wearing designers gowns! But I agree that the dress does nothing to her body type.
The First Lady has such class and style, it really amazes me. She also so much has her own sense of what looks good on her and very rarely makes a wrong choice, and doesn’t let the history of other women in the White House influence what she’s wearing (which was, let’s be honest, mostly very boring). Love the metallic shoes, she wears them a lot – long live the mid heel!!! – I think they’re Jimmy Choo?
The dress is like a pretty wedding cake- but fashion should never (unless you’re Lady Gaga- make you look like food. The gown made Michelle look heavier than she actually is. It found the dress rather unflattering.
I dislike the shoes a lot. But the dress is nice and she rocks the color.
