March 9th, 2010

During her Fall 2010 presentation, Victoria Beckham announced to her invited guests that she was going to wear the above gown to Elton John’s Oscar party – which she did.

The problem with her announcing which look she was going to wear was that it took away the anticipation and excitement out of her look.

She does look great in her self designed dress. I love that it’s not black – like she wore last year – as her face feels brighter, but this could be due to the lighter make-up and lighting.

She was easily one of the best dressed at the Oscar parties.

Cameron Diaz’ look I didn’t see coming.

At the Vanity Fair Party the blonde actress arrived wearing my favourite look from Victoria Beckham’s Fall 2010 collection.

The gold/silver shimmering asymmetrical dress is stunning, but the thud at her feet is still ringing in my ears.

I love you Rachel. You’re an amazing stylist, but what’s with these black pumps paired with nearly everything for your clients?

Demi Moore doesn’t hit a red carpet without black pumps either.

With the amount of shoes Rachel has on offer this really lets me down.

actually victoria anounced that she would wear a different dress from her collection but i’m happy she opted for this one instead as she looks beautiful. So does cameron but i agree it’s a shame about the shoes

Did she? Because the description on style.com was ‘a buff-colored draped silk jersey gown with a grosgrain ribbon sashed around the asymmetrical bodice’, which I thought might be this one – http://www.style.com/slideshows/2010/fashionshows/F2010RTW/VBECKHAM/RUNWAY/00070m.jpg.

But now I’ve seen your post and I’m confused, as you would have a much better idea than me.

Instyle posted the picture of the dress she described so that’s why it wasn’t a surprise to me.

For some reason I pictured the dress she’s wearing but Instyle have this dress. My brain is in melt down. Not enough sleep I blame

Victiria looks stunning, which is something I never have thought before. Ever since she had her breast implants reduced she has refined her look. That whole WAG look was an expensive way to look cheap. This is a beautiful dress. But, like Cameron, Victoria also had on some heavy shoes, which was a shame. She just stands out in the simplicity of this. Cameron looks gorgeous, but I am in total agreement about the shoes.

    Both ladies look lovely!
Victoria was definitely among the best dressed of the evening!
I prefer this dress on Cameron than her Oscar gown, I felt that she “drowned” when having her hair down together with the volume of the skirt. It looks better here together with the pop of red lipstick.

im so excited for victoria. this just speaks to all the doubters. she is definitely a full fledged designer IMO and i cant wait to see much more of her work on the runway and on the red carpet…

Not a personal attack or anything. But I have come to a realization that no matter what VB wears or does or designs, nothing positive or neutral has ever been said.
As for my own comments, I give credit when due. She looks amazing and so does Cameron. She has earned her way in the fashion stakes. Stylists and even editors are giving her credit for it. This is what I call real recognition.

  14. Nikki says:

I agree with Robbie. The dresses were both boring. I mean I don’t find anything special about Victoria Beckham’s designs. Been there done that; she brings nothing new to the table. They’re all designed for herself and her body type.

However I wouldn’t say they look bad, jst nothing extraordinary. I prefer Cameron Diaz’s look though except for the shoes.

  15. Jennifer says:

I wish Cameron, knowing where the one shoulder was, had her hair styled to the other side.

And the only reason for the monstrosity of her heel color choice that I can see is the black band at the waist which blocks off the silver and gold. It doesn’t mean I approve of them at all though.

Victoria finally laid off the tanner and looks beautiful, but you’re right, it took the thrill out knowing what she was going to wear.

  17. Matt says:

I love VB’s confidence on the red carpet. What I also love is her ability to look like she’s 6 feet tall in everything she wears. The dress never wears her, I could think of 10 celebs who could use a little VB stance whenever they are on a red carpet

  19. kim says:

somehow i think the dress victoria is wearing won’t do other women any favors. The waist is not elegant except if u have size zero. U can see at other sites that when victoria sits on a chair next to heidi klum, it’s like a balloon at het waist. Other from that, all her dresses are magnificient.
fc i also thought that she said she was going to wear the off-the-shouder silk nude gown, …but hey, u are the boss ;-) xx

Love, love love, Victoria’s dress, personally I would wear this look anyday and everywhere – love it. A friend of mine stated an interest in owning it in various colours and wear it contineously.

One of the best dresses of the night.

Victoria is pitch perfect – I love the tiny pop of color from her ring, and just the whole lovely shape her dress and train creates (the expert pose I guess). This is a minimalist look with a maximalist punch! Cameron also looks wonderful, in a totally different way – a blond goddess, and I don’t mind the shoes as those legs can do no wrong!

Yeah actually she was interviewed by Us weekly, she said she was gonna wear the pink dress (which she said on the presentation, which i totally prefered this one than that one) but she said someone else wanted that dress. So who do you think gonna wear that dress FC? :P

Btw Cameron from the side wearing VBs dress, looks AMAZING, the shoes, and the back ruined it…

    Victoria is looking great.

Cameron’s shoes with clear parts on the side look soooo familiar. But I can’t remember the show I saw those in. Maybe Michael Kors? I’m not 100% sure, but I’m sure I’ve seen them in one of the Spring 2010 collections.
