OMG…we PRAYED that we would get to see this Givenchy Spring 2010 Couture gown at a big event, because a big gown needs a big stage.
Zoe Saldana SHUT IT DOWN in her Givenchy Couture gown.
I actually yelped with joy when I saw her on E! just now, and I’m not ashamed to admit that.
This would’ve been seen by many as a big risk, or hard to pull off, but Zoe does with ease.
I love the jeweled bodice and those ruffles on the purple ombre skirt.
Her hair and make-up are flawless and she wears a purple ring to complement her skirt.
I have a feeling picking a winner for Best Dressed is going to be very tough tonight. What a great start.

I screamed too! i was about to write a comment to everyone who had the dress on their wishlist.
Zoe is stunning in this dress. And she was so comfortable on the red carpet in the dress. She is my number one so far!
I yelled “OMG, that’s the Givenchy!” when I saw this dress. It’s so out-freakin-standing. Mere mortals like myself would drown in a dress with that much volume. But petite Zoe pulls it off fiercely. You go girl!

OMG, so glad this dress is getting the justice it deserves, she looks amazing in it!
I love that dress, the colour and everything fits her just perfectly. The only thing that bothers me though is that Zoe seems just a little too skinny for that dress, even the model seems to have more meat on her. Love the dress though.
It’s not that she’s skinnier, but smaller. People usually forget that models even when really really skinny have bigger frames than shorter women that are not even that skinny. Zoe who IS really skinny and probably shorter/has smaller frame looks much tinier in the dress than Natalia with her 5’10 stature.
I’ve decided for this dress alone, this years Oscars are better than last years.
Zoe looks phenomenal. I’m going to have issues voting for my Best Dressed I think.

I’m on the fence with this look. I love it from the knees up. I like the architecture on the bottom but I hate the different colors. varying shades. But everything else, I like: her hair, makeup, bodice, accessories.
The bottom to me reminds me of the bacteria growth in the movie “Dream-catcher”. I just can’t get the image out of my mind. From the knee up, I really like the dress, but the bacteria-connection just puts me off.
I agree completely. I wish the color shifting was smoother, more subtle. I completely love the bodice, especially on Zoe! But from the knees down, it’s all muppet.
I wish the volume was a smoother transition. If it progressively got poofier and poofier – not just drop a muppet on her hip and knees. Can’t believe I’m part of the minority, but I don’t really like this dress on Zoe.
She looks regal and in charge of that gown – i hope we see a slightly different pose though, a little leg coming out would be good (if only so that we see her shoes!).
I don’t see the appeal of this gown. I don’t like how it gets so dark on the bottom. It’s nice from about the knees up, as Nikki, says, but even so, it’s not that outstanding, imo.
i love it! I think only select people could pull it off… if Miley Cyrus stepped out in it people would be saying WTF.
I’m not won over by this look, mostly becasue I think the dress is overrated, and I don’t think it suits Zoe that much. Imo she’s one of the most beautiful women around at the moment and I think shes looked so much better at other events, I feel slightly let down with this look.

I REALLY don’t like this dress. I think it’s rather atrocious actually. It’s way over the top, especially that skirt. And I don’t think she can pull if off either, hell, I don’t think anyone could pull that dress off.

I hate this dress with passion. The ruffles are horrible, just horrible. It looks like a giant stuffed animal is holding onto her legs and wouldn’t let go.

Interesting gown but I really think that it overwhelms her. She really had difficulting walking in it onstage. and it just looked heavy.. I think that this is a better editorial piece than a red carpet gown. She is quite beautiful though.
PERFECTION! This is what I always expect from my Oscars fashion, but rarely get. It takes a brave woman to wear such a dress and Zoe is spectacular.

It’s incredible how Zoe Saldana can go on with so risky choices and ALWAYS looks beautiful. She wore this gown better than the model and I think that all actresses thought about this givenchy for this night at least one time. Then they probably (and reasonably) thought that it was too much… Not for Zoe! One of the best looks, but not THE best for me. I prefer simplicity, as always.

Part of me loves the dress for being so over the top and unique. But part of me thinks it looks like two different dresses sewn together. From the knees up it is one dress with the focal point being that amazing irridescent crystal bodice paired with a gorgeous lavendar silk structured dress. From the knees down the focal point is the gorgeous ombre’d ruffling that cascades around the hem so that the wearer is like Venus rising from the sea foam. Both together is almost too much, while each on their own would make for a stunning dress.
Zoe carries the dress amazingly, even when she had to actually carry it to present with Carey, but when i saw her wearing this dress on tv, i was sure she would end up in several worst dressed lists as this is a very extreme dress. I personally don’t love it, but i’m glad for what it will do for zoe as a fashion star
I hope that this is not a case of everyone jumping on a bandwagon. I don’t like that dress AT ALL. From the waist up it’s pretty. I guess that I’m also the only one that thinks that the middle is a little big. The dark color on bottom is not pretty.
Okay, plain and simple. I am no fan of this dress either on Zoe or the model. She has looked better.

I was and still am in love with this gown! Zoe has the perfect body for it, and the fit was also impeccable. She looked so amazing … amazing doesn’t even describe it. I think Givenchy is a risk to take on an American red carpet, but Zoe pulled it off!
I love the WOW factor, Zoe likes to draw attention, looks adorable from about the knees up, I just think the skirt is a bit awkward and the black bottom are so uggly and unnecessary. I hate that the different colors, varying shades, I much prefer the runway look. Moreover, I think the model looks better than Zoe

the best,but very difficult to wear
I wanted this dress to shake things up at the Oscars and it so did. The back of the bodice is also very interesting. It’s a difficult gown to wear but I thought Zoe carried it with much confidence. Someone would be WAY clumsier in it than she was.
