Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: February 2010

Marisa Tomei wore this origami style Kai Kuhne Fall 2009 black and white to the “Latisse” Launch Party in LA during March of last year.

Marisa never usually disappoints on the carpet, but I’m not crazy about the length of this dress on her.

Jennifer Nettles wore this dress in December last year when she walked the red carpet at the “32nd Kennedy Center Honors” in Washington.

This dress seems to fit Jennifer better and the length isn’t quite so awkward so Jen wins this for me.

*warning flash photography in this video*

Here is a video taken with my trusty flip camera which shows the press room after the Awards show.

It’s pretty intense, but a lot of fun.

I’ve left the original sound on the video as there is a very funny point when Carey Mulligan is joined by Matthew Beard to have their picture taken together and a photographer shouts, “No Carey on your own”.

At the end of this video you also get to see the back of Ashley Olsen’s stunning Lacroix gown.

You have 30 minutes to take your front row seats for the Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010 presentation which will be streamed live.

We were all drooling on our keyboard 6 months ago when Christopher Bailey presentation his Spring 2010 collection, and I’m confident the same will happen today.

The live show starts at 4pm GMT.

Best Dressed/Most Improved Award
One thing was almost certain at the 2010 Elle Style Awards last night, and that was Alexa Chung was going to be in wearing Chanel.

The TV presenter opted for a baby blue long sleeved Chanel Spring 2010 dress, which had beige floral details and embroidery.

The love for Chanel didn’t stop at the dress, she also carried a beige Chanel quilted bag and two-tone beige Chanel heels.

I loved her hair up in a updo, which is better than how she tends to wear her hair on big occasions.

She really made an effort you could tell she loved her dress.

She was very happy to talk about her dress, but here’s a short video of her talking about her much loved Alexa bag.

Most Conservative Award
After giving us several different looks, Carey Mulligan opted for something more conservative at the 2010 Elle Style Awards last night.

The British actress was front row when the Olsen twins presented their first collection at New York Fashion Week for ‘The Row’, so we shouldn’t be surprised that this look caught her eye.

Carey opted for a blue python jacket which she wore over a black dress both from The Row Fall 2010 collection, which she paired with YSL shoes.

Although I liked this look, I would’ve liked something with a bit more pizazz for this event.

Carey’s very petite in person – for some reason I expect her to be taller – and she’s beautifully well spoken.

That crop gets better everyday.

YES. I’m obsessed.
