Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: February 2010

Marchesa’s Fall 2010 collection as you would expect was mind-blowing.

I arrived just before Rachel Zoe who arrived with Brad, her husband and a film crew. I was trying to take a picture of a gown when her film guy bumped into me. Being the sweetie that she is, she apologized.

I was glad to see Rachel there because the off-the-shoulder white gown with the ruffled detail and black sash tied to the waist has Anne Hathaway’s name written all over it.

The presentation was an even mix of mini dresses for the likes Kristen Bell, tuxedo dresses which I think would look amazing on Blake Lively and Oscar worthy gowns.

The colour palette included blush, white, black, petrol blue, fuchsia and striking red.

Details on the dresses were exquisite from embroidered roses, cascading swirls and pleats.

Feathers were applied to many pieces for cute whimsical feel and the metallics shimmered.

March 7 can’t come soon enough.

Celebrity attendees included Melissa George and Kelly Rowland.

Many other stars took to the red carpet at the 2010 Brit Awards.

Abigail Clancy opted for a Balmain camouflage one-shoulder dress paired with the same Sergio Rossi heels she wore 2 weeks ago.

Florence Welch wowed barely-there Zuhair Murad metallic mini dress.

Alexandra Burke’s red Notte by Marchesa gown was more BAFTAs than Brit Awards, but she does look beautiful in her strapless gown.

Cat Deeley wore a glittering mini Matthew Williamson Pre-Fall 2010 dress with Jimmy Choo heels, and a box clutch.

Kylie Minogue used to stand out at these events but on this occasion her sheer Dolce & Gabbana dress looks really boring.

Despite having worn this Alexander McQueen Union Jack dress before, Katherine Jenkins wore it again on the red carpet in a fitting tribute to the late designer.

Like Leona Lewis, Alesha Dixon let her footwear do the talking pairing orange heels with a sparkling mini D&G dress.

Pixie Lott looked very grown up and well put together at this event wearing an adorable custom-made Kate Halfpenny dress.

I was really excited to be front row at the Tibi Fall 2010 presentation because it’s one of my favourite brands which incorporates everything I love.

Colour, vivid prints and cute feminine wearable pieces.

This collection was no different. Fresh face models took to the runway with bouncy curls and with most of them wearing burgundy or grey tights.

Amy Smilovic was seduced by the appeal of opposites and created a ‘masculine meets feminine’ collection.

Draping was paired with structure; rich neutrals colours with contrasting brights.

I like how Amy experimented with separates. She put a long sequined dress with a long-sleeved tee and sweet-heart neckline navy dress with a long-sleeved tee.

This collection was full of rich of fabrics and impeccable detailing.

My favourite look was worn by Arlenis. I loved her nude blouse and the way her cropped navy pants had a gathered detailing under the belt.

Here’s the finale video with a touching moment at the end.

Olivia Palermo was in the front row and it seems she got the masculine meet feminine memo beforehand, as that perfectly describes how she was dress for this show.

This picture is not doing her justice because she’s even more beautiful in real life, with flawless skin.

What a mess.

Courtney Love arrived on the red carpet at the 2010 Brit Awards looking like she just woke up.

I loved Miu Miu Spring 2010 collection with it’s whimsical embellished dresses, but Courtney has destroyed the cute fantasy element of this look.

She paired her dress with a Miu Miu jeweled shoulder bag and a large colourful necklace, which was pretty but just didn’t work with her look.

I hope she returns to her grungy roots, as this type of look doesn’t work for her.

Christian Cota’s Fall 2010 presentation was inspired by Cubism.

He took organic forms disassembled them and puzzled them back together angle by angle.

This would explain the strong shapes and asymmetrical details on many of the pieces which gave them a futuristic feel.

Some of my favourite pieces were the ones with graphic prints and brush strokes, as well as the shimmering metallic looks.

Christian dresses many celebrities on the red carpet in his short and sassy numbers, and this time he added some floor-length numbers into the mix.

The legwear was by Hue and the shoes were by Aldo.

Anna Wintour was at the presentation for approximately 4 minutes.

I wonder if she was flattered by the Anna-esqe wigs the models were wearing.

Maybe not since they were grey.

Melissa George also in attendance and she was particularly taken by the silver laminated lace drape gown, which was open at the back.

I was fascinated by how Melissa tried to make eye contact with Anna.

Contact was not made.
