Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: February 2010

One thing which struck me about Daisy Lowe is that she’s much taller that I expected when I saw her walk the red carpet at the 2010 Elle Style Awards.

The raven haired model wore a Miu Miu Spring 2010 print dress with a criss cross bodice.

With the detail on the bodice it made it impossible to wear a bra, so my concern was that she was bound to have a wardrobe malfunction at some point during the night.

Let’s pray it didn’t happen for her sake.

Overall it’s a cute dress, but it looked way better on the runway.

Not So Moody After All Award
When saw Kristen Stewart arrived at the 2010 Elle Style Awards last night, I was determined to find out if she was a moody as she appears to be.

When I spoke to her in the press room I discovered that she’s painfully shy.

I asked about her look and when answering she did her best to give me eye contact and smile whilst talking.

I think she made a better effort on the red carpet last night.

She had more confidence and she smiled more on the red carpet wearing an Emilio Pucci Fall 2009 mini dress with an embellished bodice.

Her dress was paired with Bally “Amantea” criss-cross ankle strap sandals.

I really liked her look in the press room when she added a 1020 by Nicole leather jacket.

She looked much more comfortable wearing this jacket.

Kristen was at this event to collect the “Woman of the Year” Awards, fresh from winning her BAFTA Rising Star award on Sunday.

Mischa Barton arrived at the British Academy Television Awards held at The Royal Festival Hall in London last April wearing a Osman Yousefzada Fall 2009 navy blue gown.

I fell in love with gold embellished turtle-neckline when I first saw this gown, so I wished at the time Mischa had worn her hair back to show off that detail to full effect.

The Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown has been front row at many shows this London Fashion Week, so she’s been taking in a lot of style tips.

At the 2010 Elle Style Awards last night she wore the same gown as Mischa Barton.

We thankfully got to see that stunning neckline with Sarah’s shorter hair, but unfortunately this picture is not doing her much justice as she looked much better in real life.

For taking a chance and experimenting with fashion and because everyone is bound to vote for Mischa, Sarah wins this for me.

Hometown Supporter Award
As I said in the earlier post Dannii Minogue won “Best TV Star” Award at the 2010 Elle Style Awards last night in London.

No doubt more for her excellent fashion choices on the X Factor last year, where she introduced us to many new Australian designers.

I asked her who she was wearing, and she replied “Lisa Ho”.

I told her that I love that she continues to support Australian designer to which she smiled and said thank you.

The canary yellow gown was exquisite and covered all signs of her growing baby bump.

A gold clutch and bronzed heels completed the look.

This look was better in real life.

Best Comeback Award
After failing to wow us at the 2010 Brit Awards, Kylie Minogue got back to her perfect best last night at the 2010 Elle Style Awards.

The Australian singer was a knock out wearing a black strapless YSL satin dress, which she told me was paired with Giuseppe Zanotti jewel embellished peep-toes.

Her skin was glowing and I loved her bouncy waves.

She was very happy to present the “Best TV Star” Award to her kid sister Dannii.

In the press room the photographers were adamant that Kylie stand by Dannii for all the pictures, but the gracious star keep moving out of the shot informing them that it was Dannii’s night.

Awwww.

The sisters are the same height and were so cute together that even the hard face photographers said “awww” in unison as they left.

Best Use Of Colour Award
Nicola Roberts provided the much needed pop of colour on the red carpet at the 2010 Elle Style Awards last night.

The Girls Aloud singer told me that she was wearing an ensemble from Vanessa Bruno’s Spring 2010 collection, which I initially thought was a long sleeved playsuit.

Under her pink blazer she was wearing a very visible nude bra, but I would’ve preferred that over a simple white tee.

It looks like she was inspired by Audrey Tautou’s BAFTA look, because Nicola paired her bubblegum pink ensemble with a red clutch.

Unfortunately that were the inspiration ended because Nicola let herself down with unimaginative black sandals.

What a way to drag down a fab look.
