Runway To “Alice In Wonderland” Royal World Premiere – Mia Wasikowska In Valentino Couture

Mia Wasikowska walked the red carpet on a cold and rainy night in London for the “Alice In Wonderland” Royal World Premiere yesterday.

I have a feeling her Valentino Fall 2009 Couture gown may have a 50/50 spilt of love and hate.

I LOVE this gown for many reasons.

Mia looks so tall and statuesque in this gown.

She’s doesn’t get lost in it, which would have been easy to do when you haven’t got the height of Erin O’Connor or Cate Blanchett.

I think it’s the gown is perfect for the occasion as it has a fantasy element to it with the large poufy skirt and leafy embroidered details.

Mia did the right thing by letting the gown do all the talking, she didn’t make her look too fussy by adding accessories.

I’d loved to know your thoughts on this look.

Mia looks beautiful no matter what she wears.

    i looooooooove it!!

  3. Raquel February 27, 2010 at 14:28 #

I like he dresss but the hair and the lack of make up… I thought it was Carey Mulligan without Carey’s cuteness.

  4. dressaddict February 27, 2010 at 14:22 #

I was right about the dress, it makes her breast look flat. Not for her.

  5. MJ February 27, 2010 at 05:44 #

Wow, I really kind of love this. Never heard of this woman. She’s got something regal about her that helps her carry this off; LOVE her hair. She let the gown and her confidence speak for themselves.

I don’t like this dress. Is she short or does the dress just make her look short.

  8. Jess February 26, 2010 at 22:22 #

I love it! What’s to hate?!

  9. dressaddict February 26, 2010 at 20:46 #

    I meant “no favours”

  10. dressaddict February 26, 2010 at 20:45 #

Stunning dress, but it does favours for her cheast area no, as she seems boyish there or almost flat chested because of the nude part on her breast and because of that coreset that lies beneath.

  11. Lids February 26, 2010 at 18:05 #

I love the dress, for all you’ve said and because it’s not more of the same…

  12. Shelli February 26, 2010 at 17:25 #

    Everything looks perfect!

  13. mol February 26, 2010 at 17:08 #

    I think it’s a BDOTW

  14. Elise February 26, 2010 at 17:07 #

I love the dress, even if I prefer it on the runway, but I hate her hair, she looked better with long hair

  15. Clancy from Dallas February 26, 2010 at 15:24 #

I’m literally drooling right now. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is my favorite childhood book and I have been obsessed forever.. I love mia for the part of Alice because I feel like she embodies it perfectly but I am LITERALLY drooooling over this gown.. what a magic moment that must have been for her!

  16. k February 26, 2010 at 14:21 #

I think she looks lovely, no slouching confident and lovely!

  17. mm February 26, 2010 at 13:53 #

She looks beautiful in this gown. I prefer the dress as it appears on the runway without the pleating in the front. Less pleating makes the waistline look better. I do think this was a perfect gown for this event.

  18. Amelia February 26, 2010 at 12:55 #

she pulls off the dress with incredible poise, but I think something younger might have suited her better

  19. Linda February 26, 2010 at 12:46 #

Love this! All three ladies dressed perfect for the occasion. I love how HBC in particular, fits the movie so well.

  20. Flutterbang February 26, 2010 at 12:28 #

I love it, she looks amazing…what happened to her beautiful long hair though? Was it a wig for the movie?

Btw, Cate Blanchett is 5’8″ and a half 🙂

  21. emza26 February 26, 2010 at 12:22 #

mia looks beautiful the dress is stunning. Go the Aussie

  22. Lara February 26, 2010 at 12:21 #

She looks absolutely fantastic, and she carried this off so well. BDOTW worthy to me.

  23. anu February 26, 2010 at 11:50 #

i think the dress is great! but i would have absolutely loveddd it, if it didnt have the collar and the right sleeve. then it would have been in my top 10 for this year.

  24. robbie February 26, 2010 at 10:36 #

they all looked amazing. mia looks much better in the dress than the model. anne as usual looks perfect. but helena god i love her she is quirky and over the top. johnny oh my god, he is frickin hot!

  25. Lee-Shay February 26, 2010 at 10:29 #

    Definitely BDOTW!

  26. Chiara February 26, 2010 at 10:26 #

    Absolutely love it !

  27. LeeAnn February 26, 2010 at 10:10 #

Pretty dress but i love/hate it on her -parts are good parts are bad.
PS: Cate B is not very tall at least by me definition. I am 5′ 9″ and towered over her but she is very slim and in proportion.

    • Fashion Critic February 26, 2010 at 10:40 #

      5ft 9? I assumed she would be much taller like 5ft 10.

      • LeeAnn February 26, 2010 at 12:17 #

No I an 5’9but I think she is about 5’7

  28. Lizzie February 26, 2010 at 10:01 #

Not my cup of tea and I don’t think she looks amazing, but I think the dress does look better close up, so thanks for posting the additional pics so we can see the detail.

  29. Nikki February 26, 2010 at 09:57 #

I’m usually not a fan of dresses and gowns such as these as they make me think of figure skater outfit. But she seems to make it work. It is very appropriate for the occasion.

  30. Naomi February 26, 2010 at 09:39 #

    Wow! I love-love-love this look!
Very unique, and as you said – she carries it well.

  31. La:Dolce:Vita Fashion Fix February 26, 2010 at 09:35 #

I loved this look! Especially the back of the gown. As you said Mia’s statuesque figure allows her to carry the gown extremely well. I’m glad she decided to go easy on the makeup and accessories. She looks great and in my opinion a shoe-in for BDOTW?

P.S. She showed you Anne Hathaway 🙂

  32. wilwarin February 26, 2010 at 09:31 #

i think mia looked beautiful in the dress.

  33. Marlie February 26, 2010 at 09:24 #

I love the dress. I think she looks so beautiful. Perfect dress for the occasion.

  34. Elaine February 26, 2010 at 09:23 #

Wow I agree FC – I think she looks amazing! I’m so glad she kept accessories to a minimum and let the gown shine 🙂

  35. Teresa February 26, 2010 at 09:23 #

I love how she took a risk on her first big premiere.
I love her dress, especially from the back

  36. Shemah February 26, 2010 at 09:22 #

Honestly, I love her gown. I looks amazing on her and it’s very ethereal and fantasy-like and it’s just perfect! I love it.

    • Shemah February 26, 2010 at 09:22 #

I meant “IT” looks amazing on her. hehe.

      • Naomi February 26, 2010 at 18:12 #

Hee, sounds like something LOLcat would say

  37. serapart February 26, 2010 at 09:20 #

oh my god, she looks amazing, I SO so wish i was there, they all looked great!!!

  38. Nicola February 26, 2010 at 09:19 #

LOVE IT! Classically stunning, natural and effortless.

  39. bettybrandenburg February 26, 2010 at 09:13 #

Wonderful dress on her. Takes nude make up to new heights, doesn’t she? You’re right, FC: good choise not to add accessories. Anne Hathaway looks stunning (can’t wait to see more pics of that). Gotta love HBC. She thinks she’s still onscreen. Sheesh.
The three ladies’ arm candy is not too shabby, though…
