Runway To 12th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards – Anna Kendrick In Elie Saab Couture

When I saw Anna Kendrick on the red carpet at the 12th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards last night, I said “This is what she should’ve worn to the BAFTAs”.

The actress was a knock out in this Elie Saab Fall 2010 Couture strapless gown which I simply adore.

Her white strapless gown is accented with circular appliqués and hints of crystals cascading down her gown.

This is a stunning princess gown if I ever saw one.

As much as I’m hyperventilating over Anna in this gown, I’m also feeling a huge sense of disappointment that she didn’t consider this gown for a grander stage like the BAFTAs or the Oscars.

Despite that she’s still BDOTW worthy.

Yes, this is definitely BDOTW worthy. I love everything about this look, the hair, makeup and of course, the gown in to die for. She set the bar high for herself so I’m really hoping she wears something even more spectacular at the Oscars and blow me away.

Totally agree with you. This would have been a knockout at the BAFTAs or the Oscars… Oh well. You can’t fault the girl for looking DAMN FABULOUS! :)

She looks stunning, I mean, she’s a pretty girl, and the Elie Saab Couture gown speaks for itself – it’s amazing. But I can’t stop thinking that this is the kind of dress we always see on her: strapless, pale colour, embellished… I hope she goes for something different at the Oscars, just like the one she wore at the SAGs, in a brighter color.

    I LOVE IT !

wow… aboslutely amazing… i agree with you FC she should’ve worn it on BAFTAs or save it for Oscars… but i’m still hoping she has amazing dress in stock for oscars :)

I love this gown so much. It did deserve a bigger event, but she still looks amazing so no worries. BDOTW for sure!

I agree, totally BDOTW worthy, and she might even have something better in mind for the oscars! At least I hope so (:

    And gorgeous it is!

  12. Leo February 26, 2010 at 22:02 #

I love the dress but I think it’s a bit too diva for her and she can’t live up to it. Plus, it’s too much for the event.

She looks beautiful, and this version of the dress is better than the one on the model.

she looks gorgeousss. definitely deserves bdotw title. this dress may seem bridal-ish but she looks amazing. really flatters her shape

The Bolero presented with the dress on the runway is the one Rihanna wore recently?

    • stars&lilies March 2, 2010 at 04:55 #

yup, that’s the one. Rihanna wore it with a Paule Ka Spring 2009 Dress. and looked AMAZING I might add.

It’s a beautiful dress and she makes it work. But it falls in the same category of style she always does on the red carpet. As I like to call it: conservative elegance. (Hence the way she opted against the runway version of the look with bold shoulders.) She’s young and she should experiment more, try some edgy, fashion forward pieces from time to time. Like Carey Mulligan, for example.

I completely agree. When I saw Rihanna wear the top part of this ensemble, I thought OMG I cannot wait until someone wears the bottom.
and although I wasn’t sure who I was expecting to, Anna has done it justice.
