Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: January 2010

Dita von Teese was very much the ‘Queen of the Front Row’ at Spring 2010 Haute Couture Fashion Week, despite Amber Rose trying to give her a run for her money.

The diva can go from a sexy Elie Saab dress to this Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2008 Couture tweed dress with a fur detail on the neckline.

The classic skirt suit was worn with black thigh-high boots, whilst she carried a black perforated clutch.

Like Cate Blanchett earlier in the week, we get a peek a top of Dita’s tights via the thigh high split in her skirt.

Maybe these two are about to start a trend.

We’ve had the all white collections from Elie Saab and Chanel, so Basil Soda gave us a nearly all nude/taupe presentation for Spring 2010 Couture.

As Sophie and I watch the show the colour theme was evident until the penultimate aqua gown hit the runway.

The Lebanese designer has an impressive list of Hollywood fans. They will love this collection as he presented many stunning red carpet-ready gowns and cocktail dresses which ranged from light and floaty to heavily embellished.

We did see some bold shoulders, but there was also a lot of gold fringing and razor-shaped metal appliqués.

My favourite was the nude gown with the tulle tiered skirt and razor appliqués.

The finale gown was exquisite with its embellished details, mermaid hem and 10ft train.

Some of you didn’t understand why I called Alex Curran a hypocrite for stating that she thinks Balmain prices are ridiculous, yet she spent approximately £27,000 on several pieces.

Well she took her hypocrisy to £33,000 last night when she attended the launch party of a new Hilton Hotel in Liverpool wearing a Balmain leather motorcyle jacket with the Balmain buckle-embellished suede boots.

This jacket cost £6,360.

Balmain have said, “‘Balmain has a very strict policy on celebrity dressing and only works with celebrities that correspond with the brand’s image. We have never worked with Mrs Curran so I assume she has purchased the samples”.”

So was not a loaned to her by Balmain, nor was she given it for free, she – or as someone rightly pointed out earlier this week, her £100k per week earning footballer husband Stevie G – paid for it.

My problem is not with her purchasing the jacket, it’s the ridiculous statement she made in Vogue prior to being seen head-to-toe in Balmain on several occasions.

With all that being said it’s an ace jacket.

In this weeks Hello Magazine, Victoria and David Beckhan appear on the cover.

The other cover stars are Louise Adams – Victoria’s sister – and her husband.

The Beckham’s hosted Louise’s lavish wedding at their luxurious English home with their three sons as page boys.

Victoria was of course wearing a dress from her own Spring 2010 collection to her sisters wedding.

You will instantly recognise it as the same stunning dress Courteney Cox wore to the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month.

David I love you, but those shiny pants with that sweater…not so much.
