Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: January 2010

As I said yesterday we saw many re-runs on the SAG Awards red carpet.

Mostly notable was this stunning Balenciaga Fall 2009 printed gown which we first saw on Salma Hayek at the 33rd Annual Cairo International Film Festival in Egypt last November.

The actress was there to receive an honorary award during the opening ceremony.

She didn’t belt her gown unlike Meryl Streep who looked outstanding on the SAGs red carpet.

The black belt make her look more interesting, plus her green earrings complement her look perfectly.

This is the best I’ve ever seen Meryl on the red carpet, she easily wins this for me.

White was a huge trend on the SAG Awards red carpet last night.

It was also a trend at the 2010 People’s Choice Awards, and coincidently at the 2009 SAG Awards.

Pre-spring is the perfect time for a white trend to arrive, just as we’re getting bored of wearing black and covering up in the winter months.

None of these crisp bright white look felt too bridal – with maybe the exception of Paula Patton.

It was also nice to see some shorter styles on this red carpet like Katrina Bowden’s Tadashi Shoji feathered-like frock.

It’s A Fabulous Family Affair Award

Edoardo Ponti walked the red carpet with two stunning women either side of him – his mother Sophia Loren and his wife Sasha Alexander.

Sophia is graceful wearing a black Armani Privé Spring 2009 gown with stunning leather details.

I love her sparkling heels, but I couldn’t understand why in every picture she holding her train.

I was equally impressed with Sasha in her Juan Carlos Obando Spring 2010 twisted, pleated dresses in a rainbow of gorgeous muted tones.

I’ve been in love with this dress since it was presented, so I’m happy to see it finally on the red carpet.

Best Dressed Couple Award
Mo’Nique was head-to-toe fabulous wearing a rose pink dress with beaded embroidered details on the sleeves.

The Golden Globes and SAG Awards winners continues to channel a very understated look. We all know she has a big personality and I’m glad she hasn’t decided to show that off via her looks on the red carpet.

I love her hair down, her makeup is perfect.

Not many couples took this red carpet in comparison to last week, but Mo’Nique and husband Sidney Hicks looked so very cute together.

Most Disappointing Award
When I saw this Rafael Cennamo strapless gold and blush gown on Toni Collette the first person to come to mind was Nicole Richie.

Nicole would go ape for this maxi look, but I think Toni is better than this. Especially considering how much of a knock out she was at the Globes in Elie Saab.

This is was a huge step back for me.

The gown itself is nice, especially the beaded bodice with turquoise touches which Toni complemented her matching earrings, but I didn’t like the tiered skirt.

Her look was complete with a gold crystal and leather Daniel Swarovski Lana clutch.
