Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: January 2010

Hilary Swank does daytime and red carpet dressing equally well.

Here is a perfect example, as Hilary looked very sophisticated when she attended the Etam fashion show held at Hotel Ritz in Paris yesterday, for the presentation of the new Natalia Vodianova collection.

The actress wore a short asymmetrical blue Elie Saab Fall 2009 dress with a coordinating blue clutch and black patent leather open-toe shoes which were both from the Elie Saab collection.

I bet a lot of you are glad she didn’t match her shoes to her dress and clutch.

Dior’s Spring 2010 Couture collection had many references, but Alexandre Vauthier’s Spring 2010 Couture collection had one – Power dressing.

The collection included bold peaked shoulders, most with plunging necklines and some with asymmetrical necklines.

The colour palette consisted of bold blood reds, electric blues, goblin greens and muted black. One black plunging dress was paired with a large sequined belt for a sexier vibe.

The sequined pieces really stood out, even the black jumpsuit.

But it’s the red dress I would wish to see on the red carpet.

Rihanna is a huge fan of Alexandre Vauthier, so lets hope she brings some of these pieces to the red carpet at some point.

The Grammy’s are on Sunday night. Perfect showcase for both the red carpet and that blue sequin leotard would make a great stage costume.

Breath-taking collection.

Dita von Teese never lets me down, but on this rare occasion I really don’t like this look.

For me their is too much leather going on with her Spring 2010 Dior look.

Was it necessary to add the thigh-high boots and the long leather gloves, to the leather jacket and skirt?

I think not.

This Mrs Whiplash look is overkill.

Very surprising for Dita.

Kylie Minogue made a fashionable entrance to the Christian Dior Spring 2010 Couture show yesterday in Paris.

The pop princess wore a grey skirt suit from the Spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection, with a pair of black peep-toes.

The top half has a twisted neckline, whilst the tulip shaped skirt is a less risqué look in comparison to the runway.

Kylie could pull of either looks, but her is more appropriate for a Couture show.

Cheryl Cole walked the red carpet at the “DLD Starnight” music ceremony in Germany last night.

We’ve become used to seeing Cheryl wear couture lately, but last night she opted for Herve Leger.

She paired her gold strapless embellished dress with gold heels and a sparkling clutch.

Although I do like Cheryl’s shorter do, I would really like her to do something more dramatic with the style.

Cheryl later performed her #1 single “Fight For This Love” and Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas joined her on stage for their duet “3 Words”.

On stage she wore a black Sass & Bide jumpsuit which was heavily embellished with thigh-high mesh cut-outs.

Christian Dior’s Spring 2010 Couture show had a very obvious equestrian theme.

The first few models wore modernized 1860′s side-saddle riding habits which included fitted jackets with stiff peplums over a high necked white blouse with a frothy collar.

Some sported black velvet top hats with fishnet veils, whilst others wore grey streaks in their hair.

Whips were also included with these looks, to also play up to the equestrian theme.

It wasn’t all about equestrian chic, the cocktail lace cocktail dress with tulle floral appliqué flowers were breath-taking beautiful.

I loved the sculpted ballgowns in contrasting colours of burgundy, chocolate, mustard, blue, ivory and black were no doubt the show stoppers.

I loved the volume and contrasting detailed trains.

Accessories were supersized with large earrings, necklaces and bracelets which looked heavy as they decorated the models.

I love the ending of this video were Galliano drops to his knees to kiss Karlie Kloss’ hand. She’s the current face of Dior.
