Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: January 2010

After recently announcing that she is expecting her third baby, supermodel Claudia Schiffer was seen front row at Chanel’s Spring 2010 Couture show yesterday wearing a Chanel Pre Fall 2010 yellow tunic.

This colour is great on Claudia and instead of clashing with her blonde hair, I think it compliments it really nicely.

I love the bellowing sleeves and the embroidered detail on the front.

My only complaint might be that she should have worn a more subtle bag as it seems to be fighting for attention with the rest of the look.

I actually really like that she styled this tunic with black tights and ankle boots as the yellow is the only focus this look needs.

I am forever indebted to FC for allowing me to post this on here and I take full responsibility for any fashion bashing this site receives as a result!

Now that the disclaimer is over and done with, let’s talk about the ever ridiculous Amber Rose and Kanye West who were front row at Chanel’s Spring 2010 Couture show.

How they ever got an invite in the first place is beyond me but publicity hungry as ever, Amber turned up in a gold knitted hooded dress.

There is no point in me even attempting to critique this look as I wouldn’t even know where to begin. But please feel free to let me know your feelings on her *ahem* dress.

I know I should despise these two and their media grabbing antics but the comedy couple just never fail to amuse me.

I feel a new screensaver coming on…

UPDATE: Thanks to one of our readers, From Russia With Love, who identified Amber’s dress for us. She is wearing a look from the Fall 2009 Chanel Paris-Moscow show.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m a massive fan of British television presenter Alexa Chung. You can imagine the looks of disappointment I get from FC when I tell her this.

I love the way she channels preppy chic so well. So I should love this Chanel Spring 2010 cream suit on her. But I don’t.

I think I just hoped she might look a bit smarter at Haute Couture Fashion Week and instead she has worn her suit with grey, bobbly looking tights and Chanel Spring 2010 clogs.

She is the only star to have worn this look with the clogs as seen on the runway and whilst this doesn’t surprise me, I would have much preferred them with a bare leg. Although it’s very cold in Paris.

I’m not really sure what’s going on with the bag either. It looks like an old gym kit bag.

Chanel’s Spring 2010 Couture show was full of pretty pastels, beautiful bows and touches of silver.

The one thing that struck me about the collection was the lack of Karl Lagerfeld’s usual use of black and white.

Lagerfeld called this his “neon baroque” theme and although the traditional Chanel suit was seen in abundance, there were unusual twists like culotte style shorts and ruched skirts.

Silver was also seen throughout the collection and I love the contrast it brings to the candy colours.

Silver shoe boots along with metallic half gloves and lurex tights brought a touch of the space age to this otherwise soft and pretty collection.

I especially love how delicate tulle was ruched into soft swirls and paired with silver lamé to provide interesting harder edges.

Models wore matching bows in their hair with white streaks throughout their bangs and bouffant updos.

I love how the show ended with Abbey Lee Kershaw and Baptiste Giabiconi dressed as bride and groom and looking like they’d just stepped straight off the top of a wedding cake.

Rachel Weisz also attended “The South Bank Show Awards” yesterday.

Unlike Rachel Stevens, Weisz opted for a less graphical look.

She wore a black silk sleeveless Jason Wu dress with designers now signature satin belt.

The blue satin belt makes this look work for me, because as you know I love a pop of colour.

Black Louboutin pumps complete the look.

Congratulations to Rachel as she was named best actress at this year’s “Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards” for appearing in “A Streetcar Named Desire”, which also took place yesterday.

Gone are the days when former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens would be dancing on Top of The Pops wearing a yellow crop top and boyfriend jeans.

Now the grown up married star sports a more sophisticated look.

Yesterday she attended “The South Bank Show Awards” in London wearing a digitally printed Peter Pilotto Spring 2010 dress, which had been lengthen from the runway version.

This was one of my favourite collections from London Fashion Week, so I’m glad to see it worn on the red carpet.

As much as I like the dress and her strappy sandals, I’m not to crazy about the taupe reptile-print clutch, but I appreciate that it breaks up all the grey.
