Roberta Armani wore this beautiful Giorgio Armani Fall 2009 gold and black velvet dress to the “Viola Di Mare” Premiere during Rome Film Festival last year.
It’s a stunning two-tone strapless dress which looked amazing on the red carpet.
ASOS have recently added a very similar dress to their virtual sleeves.
In order not to be a accused of copying the Armani look, ASOS dress is made from satin plus it has an extra zig-zag on the skirt.
I will never stop being surprised at how this happens on a regular basis.
The Giorgio Armani dress no doubt cost thousands, but the ASOS version is available from ASOS US for $93.48, and ASOS.com for £55.

wow, a lot of copycats out there. is it wrong of me to like the asos dress better?
I don’t think they changed the colour to make it not look like it’s a copycat. I think high street brands (technically ASOS does fall into this category) are pretty much known for making knock offs.
ASOS own brand clothes are such bad quality, compared to other similar priced brands. The style of the ASOS dress is better than Armani, but I wonder what it looks like in reality.
But this is how fashion has always worked–it’s a trickle down. A style debuts as couture, sets the seasonal trend, and then it’s copied by another manufacturer as ready-to-wear. They’re completely different markets.
