Fur was hugely popular in the 70s and 80s, and it made a huge comeback on the Fall 2009 runways featuring in the presentation of Viktor & Rolf, Antonio Berardi, Jean Paul Gaultier, Isabel Marant and Yigal Azrouël.
Whilst doing my Christmas shopping around Brick Lane I noticed something. Everyone seemed to be wearing a (faux) fur coat or jacket.
It seems like it’s not just Joe Public who likes fur coats, celebs do too.
From LA to Mahiki nightclub in London, celebs just love their fur coats and jackets to keep the winter chill at bay.
I love the colour of Sharon Stone coat. I would say hers is real along with fur lover Kimora Lee Simmons and Catherine Zeta Jones, who’s luxe brown fur coat makes her look so regal – barring those wedge boots of course.
Pixie Lott may have worn her trademark hot pants during a bitterly cold December, but she kept warm wearing a similar faux fur jacket I purchased in H&M last month.

We’ve picked out 3 fabulous coats at 3 different price points.
French Connection Big Foot Coat £75
Julien MacDonald Green Fox Fur Coat £4,898

A fur coat may seem a bit OTT in LA and Florida when temperatures are averaging 66°F, so Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian and Fergie’s opted for gilets instead.
It is the perfect solution to keeping you warm but not too hot in during mild winters.

Gilets have been around since the 70s, so if you invest in one now it’s will surely come back in style again at some point so consider it an investment piece.

I really enjoyed that post… Nice to see the celebs more casual and thanks for the tips and rates! Hope to see some similar posts this year. You master the red carpet, I’m sure you also master the sidewalk. Thanks for that.
Nice to have you back!!! Happy New Year
thanks Karima.
Happy New Year to you.
Victoria Beckhams is another who also swears with faux fur, she gets runway pieces that she loves specifically made for her in faux fur that looks almost identifcal, it costs her more to do so and the outfit is usually of lesser value cuz its not real fur, i dont get the logic but i admire it
that is not true. She wears real fur.
I have done a whole post on it which will post tomorrow.
I own a (faux) fur gilet, which is COMFY! Love it!
Being a vegan, I despise people who wear real fur (Sharon STone and Kimora Lee and VB.. yet another reason to hate her)
Ditto.
Faux fur is beautiful! But I wish that more and more celebrities starts to appreciate them alive! Please, have a little compassion with those animals!
While I don’t ‘hate’ people who make different choices than me, I personally do not like the idea of wearing a dead animal on my back. It’s not as if there aren’t many other choices out there……
I totally agree, I’m horrified that this blog doesn’t take more of a stand against real fur! I love reading it, but really wish it would boycott all fur aside from faux. The Julien McDonald is real fox, I believe, why advertise it at all?
Fur is part of the fashion industry.
I eat meat, I wear leather, I wear fake fur. So for me to make a stand against fur would be very hypocritical.
I totally agree with u. The hysteria about fur makes me sick… 8 mill kids die every year because of snuse malnutrition and lack of fresh WATER for chrissakes… No such intense debate strong emotional expressionism against that… Very strange i Think
MacDonald, I mean.
i don’t know…faux or not..it looks disgusting in my opinion.i kinda condemn women who wear real fur…
I like real fur.
Hmmm the big fur debate. I think people should be able to wear what they want. Both real and fake can make you look fab and keep you warm. There are organisations like saga fur that deal with the companies that use fur and make sure the animals are not dealt with cruely.
I’ve been meaning to get a faux fur vest from H&M. They’re on sale now, I believe. Nicole looks great!
You can get really unique, fab designs from fake fur as well. Cinnia Edua online fashion gallery has a great range from a Hungarian born fashion designer.
i truly love the feel ol of fur in fact it’s a turn on to be close to it I even sleep in it with my wife of 44 years
fur is so soft
