Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: December 2009

Jessica Stroup started off this year a very strong candidate for this title, then Ashley Greene started to give her a run for her money.

Katie Cassidy came out of nowhere.

Then Carey Muillgan went about things the right way by dazzling me in a colourful Thakoon dress. She went up hill from there.

The British Oscar hopeful has yet to put a foot wrong even in her gladiatorial Prada look.

She’s picking the right pieces and outshining veterans on the red carpet.

Not only is she the Best Newcomer, but she’s also one to watch in 2010.

We’ve noticed she has a preference for Prada.

Could she be a brand ambassador in 2010?

We’ll have to wait and see.

Some stars would be lucky to wear just one Couture gown in a year, but Cheryl Cole dazzled us with 9 looks during the X Factor this Fall.

She wore 3 Versace looks, 4 Stéphane Rolland looks (including one for her TV show), a stunning Zuhair Murad gown, and for the finale she wore Georges Chakra.

Her buget was said to be 6 figures for the X Factor.

On most nights it was money well spent.

Who would have thought Cheryl Cole would be an ambassador for Couture?

The first gold Versace look is still my favourite.

Love her or hate her Lady GaGa certainly kept us entertained this year.

From her pantless ensemble to Louis Vuitton-style blonde afros, their was nothing GaGa wouldn’t do to try to shock us – we’re still trying to figure out what the talcum powder was all about.

Many of you grew tired of her antics, but my turning point was watching GaGa at the MTV Music Video Awards.

Until that point I’d wasn’t too fussed, but she proved that she’s entertainer and truly creative.

Without her the creativity of the students at Central St. Martin’s would go unseen so kudos to her.

Last years winner was Rihanna.

Dutch model of the moment Lara Stone was a clear front runner in this year’s Model Of The Year Award.

Best known for the gap in her front teeth and her sizeable assets she’s been the most sort after model of 2009 (and reportedly one of the best paid).

She has opened shows for Giles Deacon, Christopher Kane, Fendi and MaxMara and closed shows for Stella McCartney, Diesel and Balmain.

She has featured in Givenchy campaigns for the past five seasons and has also been featured on the covers of international Vogue, W, Elle and i-D magazine.

Her CV is set to expand either further during 2010 with her nude shoot for ‘Love’ Magazine appearing on newsstands in February.

She will also front her biggest campaign to date replacing Madonna as Marc Jacobs leading lady in Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2010 campaign.

Marc Jacobs said of Lara Stone “we wanted a modern, iconic, sexy beauty… it had to be Lara Stone”.

Karl Lagerfeld now calls her “the girl of the moment” and French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld dedicated an entire February 2009 issue to her.

Last’s years winner was British model Jourdan Dunn.

For the next 2 days enjoy our awards given to those who deserved recognition for their red carpet appearances over the last 12 months.

We all have our red carpet favourites like Cate Blanchett and Diane Kruger, but this year we picked 4 girls who made us swoon in the dresses that kicked started our love for them.

Zoe Saldana pretty much started her fantastic year on the red carpet back in April at the Star Trek Germany premiere wearing Prabal Gurung. She continued to wow in Pucci and Chloe.

Carey Mulligan wore this stylish Thakoon colourful dress and I’ve been hooked ever since. Bring on Awards season.

Even though we only got a few glimpses of Kate Cassidy, who can forget her Brian Lichtenberg dress.

Whilst Kristen Stewart was giving us moody face on the red carpet, Ashley Greene gave us style and elegance.
