Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: December 2009

When I found out that some of the Best Dressed women in Hollywood would be appearing in a film together, I was sure we’d be drooling over their red carpet looks.

Unfortunately I haven’t been.

Penelope Cruz looked amazing at the London premiere, but this time she opted for a simple black L’Wren Scott Spring 2010 halter dress, with tights and black platform heels.

We know she can do much better than this.

Nicole Kidman walked the red carpet wearing a baby pink L’Wren Scott fitted dress.

The silhouette is very much what we’re used to seeing from Kidman and Scott’s designs, but on this occasion she added a lace capelet to try to make the look more interesting.

Kidman reverted back to kitten heels after teasing us with real heels at the London premiere.

Fergie was the sex kitten of the night wearing a overtly sexy Camilla and Marc “Caraletta” mini dress with t-bar heels.

Where is Marion Cotillard when you need some glamour?

This event was a big fail for me.

I had a huge case of de ja vu looking at Victoria Beckham wearing this black long sleeved gown from her recent Spring 2010 collection.

At Elton John’s Oscar party earlier this year she wore a very similar gown.

I was really hoping she would wow me on this occasion, but she didn’t.

Whilst so many opted for black a this event, Lauren Laverne stood out wearing a Matthew Williamson Spring 2010 mini dress.

The dress was covered with intriguing embellishments of an interesting texture.

The Radio and TV presenter completed her look with two tone platform heels which complemented her dress perfectly.

Jacquetta Wheeler also stood out wearing a gorgeous floral Erdem Spring 2010 dress with a tiered skirt.

I would’ve loved it had she not worn the tights – which are understandable in this weather.

Other than that she looks amazing.

Claudia Schiffer also opted for something colourful, wearing a red printed Peter Pilotto Fall 2009 dress.

Like her fellow supermodel above, Claudia also opted for tights.

I would’ve loved for her to wear thigh-high boots like the model.

Daisy Lowe opted for sexy glamour wearing a Vivienne Westwood Spring 2010 gown, with cut-out on the sides plus a thigh-high split.

Thankfully she didn’t over accessorize, because this gown speaks for itself.

Jerry Hall gave her daughter Georgia Jagger – who won Model of the Year – a lesson in how to work the red carpet.

Jerry opted for a two-tone Chanel Fall 2009 fitted dress paired with same runway jacket.

The look suited her quite nicely, but I really objected to the zebra print heels.

Georgia braved the cold wearing a white and grey lace Vivienne Westwood dress with black strappy sandals.

Natalie Massenet – the founder of Net-A-Porter.com and theOutnet.com – must have the most enviable closet.

The stylish CEO opted for a Emanuel Ungaro Spring 2009 one-shoulder taffeta black dress with asymmetrical lines and ruffled details.

T-bar embellished heels complete the look.

Natalia Vodianova blue off-the-shoulder vintage Fortuny gown made her baby blue eyes pop.

Her look is paired with Christian Louboutin Bat Girl heels.

I love Rosamund Pike’s taupe chiffon dress which is accented with black ribbon.

A fur trimmed jacket and taupe heels complete this gorgeous look.

Kate Moss gives us nothing we haven’t seen before from her with this Dior look.

Tolula Adeyemi steps outside the box wearing a one-sleeved white Manjit Deu gown whilst carrying her favourite Louis Vuitton clutch.

I love the dramatic blue embellished sleeve and the sprinkles of details on the bodice.

I’m really admiring this girls style.

Erin O’Connor always gives off such a regal vibe on the red carpet which I love.

Her one-sleeved gown was less colourful than Tolula’s, but is was equally dramatic with the poufy shoulder detail and her long flowing skirt.

The trend for sequin dresses doesn’t look like it’s going to lose its sparkle anytime soon.

Lauren, Lo and Marissa all wore this Alice + Olivia dress and it’s hard to tell who outshines who.

Lauren Conrad first wore this dress back in September to “VH1 Divas” in New York.

I love the peep toe shoes and simple accessories, which Lauren always seems to get so right.

Her low bun is cute, cute, cute and really suits the dress. Three cheers for her hair stylist!

Following closely in her footsteps was her Hills co-star Lo Bosworth with a gunmetal grey version of the dress, which she wore to her birthday celebrations at LIV in Miami back in October.

I think she looks great and it really hugs her frame well. However, I’m a bit unsure about the nude shoes. Surely this dress could have pulled off something stronger?

Also, Lo, your face is a little shiny.

The stunning Marissa Miller wore this dress recently on the “Tonight Show” and has the best accessory of all – her legs!

I would have liked to see her hair swept back though and the shoes seem a little too heavy for the dress.

It’s a tough one to call but I think Lauren Conrad just takes the lead. Everything seems to come together really well and she’s wearing the best shoes by far.

This dress is available to buy from Shopbop.com.

Out & About, LA

Prior to her party in London this week, Victoria Beckham was spotted out in LA with her boys wearing a very cute colourful mini Julian J Smith Spring 2010 dress with her curly bob, and blue suede YSL Trib Two heels.

Julian J Smith is a British designer who presented his first collection during London Fashion Week back in September, now he has one of the most photographed women in the world wearing his designs.

What a huge honour for him.

Avatar Photo Call, Berlin

Actresses Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana attend a photocall to promote their film ‘Avatar’ Berlin.

Sigourney looked sophisticated wearing a metallic cardigan paired with wide-legged pants, whilst Zoe opted to show off her stunning legs.

Zoe wore one of the cutest pieces from Andrew GN’s Spring 2010 collection.

I love the crocheted top with a ruffled collar and black patent bow accent which complements her mini black satin skirt.

The look is teamed with a pair of beige Serigo Rossi platform heels.

BDOTW contender.

VEVO Launches Premiere Destination for Premium Music Video, New York

Lady GaGa donned an ethereal Valentino Spring 2010 dove grey strapless gown which looks like mounds of material wrapped around her tiny frame.

I love the dress, but she wears it too low down, and it gives her a look of having droopy boobs.

Even though many are over the bold shoulder trend Rihanna is still championing the look.

It seems like she just can’t get enough of spikey pieces either.

First rings, then dresses, now shoes which she pairs with her Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2009 Couture look which included a black jumpsuit, gold belt and cropped jacket look.

Ciara is such a lovely girl, with an amazing figure.

Her gold dress is outstanding, as it hugs that super toned body I’m so jealous of.

What I’m not jealous of are those red Louboutin thigh high heels.  They are cringe-worthy to say the least.

“The Lovely Bones” LA Premiere

Rachel Weisz looked so incredibly pretty wearing a baby blue strapless heavenly Valentino dress with silver platforms and a matching clutch.

Some might of opted for a neutral lip colour, but Rachel was bold enough to wear this floaty dress with bright red lips.

The Rodarte’s range for Target is a collaboration that I just love.

The tulle dresses are especially perfect for the party season and the sequin leopard print pieces will bring some wow factor to your wardrobe.

This range screams edgy attitude (which Rodarte do so well) and there is something for everyone.

Prices vary from $9.99 – $79.99 and I think it’s amazing that Target are offering such great designer pieces at affordable prices.

I want a pair of those net leggings!

I love the way that many of the looks have been cinched in with the pretty bow belts too.

You’ll be able to snap up these stylish bargains on target.com and in Target stores from December 20.

I’ve moaned, moaned and moaned some more about Victoria Beckham wearing black, but on this occasion VB looks amazing.

I’m not sure if it’s her hair, her dress, or the fact that she’s glowing under the protective arm of her hunky hubby, but she’s back on top form.

Last night the team at Harper’s Bazaar threw Victoria a dinner party to celebrate her December cover.

She was of course wearing a dress from her Spring 2010 collection, which was trademark pencil straight with an embellished waistband and an exposed zipper along the front.

Her hair is starting to become more interesting again as she’s growing it out.

A few weeks ago she showed off a curly bob. This time she scraps it back and piles it high on top.

Her look was complete with Eddie Borgo earrings and Christian Louboutin Calypso pumps covered in Swarvoski crystals.
