Jessica Stroup started off this year a very strong candidate for this title, then Ashley Greene started to give her a run for her money.
Katie Cassidy came out of nowhere.
Then Carey Muillgan went about things the right way by dazzling me in a colourful Thakoon dress. She went up hill from there.
The British Oscar hopeful has yet to put a foot wrong even in her gladiatorial Prada look.
She’s picking the right pieces and outshining veterans on the red carpet.
Not only is she the Best Newcomer, but she’s also one to watch in 2010.
We’ve noticed she has a preference for Prada.
Could she be a brand ambassador in 2010?
We’ll have to wait and see.

I love this girl so much, even if sometimes she misses (I didnt like her Prada leather dress) at least she is interesting to watch. Never hides behind a safe black dress.
If this was my breakout year I would be so scared to go wrong that probably would only wear black dresses. But she is one brave young girl.
I’ve never been a fan of Carey’s but she has had some great looks. The Thakoon is still my favourite.Jessica is one of the best dressed in terms of young Hollywood, but Carey brings something different to the table.
Happy Christmas everyone:);)
ah a very happy christmas to you too.
I’m so glad Carey won this. She’s very interesting. She even has great candid style, which shows that she isn’t the work of a stylist. That third dress, the Prada one, is just wow.
Carey’s definitely been one of my ones to watch this year – such a good choice. She unusual and interesting and she takes risks rather than being boring. I’ve seen too much identikit dressing this year, so nice to see someone who doesn’t feel the need to wear Balmain and Trib Twos at every red carpet event!
I think she was very brave – and clever – to ditch the big blonde waves she had when she was in Northangar Abbey and Doctor Who and to go for something more unusual and androgynous. It’s definitely not done Michelle Williams or Ginnifer Goodwin any harm and I put Carey in the same category as them.
Merry Christmas to FC and team. Thank you for such fantastic info and updates throughout 2009 (and before). You deserve every bit of success you’ve had so far and so much more to come xxxx
Hey Gemma, thanks so much for your comment and your kind words about the blog.
As you know it’s very much a labour of love.
2010 is going to be exciting. I can hardly wait for Awards season.
Wishing you all the best for Christmas and the new year.
Catherine aka FC xxx
FC, This is extremaly boring!
Always the same combo: dress + sandals! A lot of girls in hollywood dresses like that. sorry my english. And only wear an brand like “look for me Miuccia, It’s prada” don’t work for me!
Merry Christmas!
You rocks!
Merry Christmas to you x
I love Carey, she has such a bright intelligent look and Prada is a perfect match for her!
Happy Holidays F.C. – I can’t believe I’ll have to endure a ten day detox from the Red Carpet, but you deserve an awesome break, and I have no doubt that 2010 will be a great year for you and your faithful readers!
Thanks. it will be a detox for me too
Happy Holidays
Love Carey’s unique look. Great choice, love the leather Prada dress and the best of all, the red Vionet? dress (4th pic). I love the fact that she’s different with her short red hair. Merry Christmas, FC!
Merry Christmas Linda
Brilliant choice! I’m so glad Carey won, she’s fast become a favourite of mine. She’s so unique tro anyone else in young Hollywood and so very elegant. I think she’d be a perfect fid for Prada.
Cannot wait to see what she brings come Awards season, I wonder if she’ll wear a gown?
Also, wishing you and your team a very Merry Christmas – I’m sure it will be a very chic one!
^ to*, fit*
And a very Merry Christmas to you too x
Great choice! I lover her. She has a spread in US Vogue for January. From the looks of it she could DEFinitely be a brand ambassador.
Cheers!
I hadn’t heard of Carey Mulligan before you brought her to my attention but I absolutely adore her fresh, youthful and effortless turns on the red carpet. My favourite look so far is the Vionnet. I can’t wait for awards season!
Thanks so much for the scoop!
She reminds me of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s short-haired phase (when she was the face of Miu Miu), both for her style and looks. Her style is not revolutionary, but she’s classy, in my opinion.
i don’t know why, she looks alot like Michelle Williams, the haiir, the style…
