KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball 2009

After a few questionable choices, Leighton Meester tones things down a tad wearing this Cushnie Et Ochs marble print dress.

I like the dress which doesn’t scream “I’m not Blair Waldorf”, but not too keen on the make-up.

I’m still expecting more from Keri Hilson.

It was pointed out that the main problem with her look was her hair, which appears to be sorted out.

For a casual event this ensemble including an Alexander Wang jacket is fine, but I’m would like to see more from her next time out.

Katie Cassidy stood out wearing honeycomb gold and black mini dress.

Tights, black peep-toes and a black clutch completed the look.

Her make-up is flawless here.

Love love Leighton’s dress, but I don’t like the make-up and I’m still not sold on the shoes.

Keri Hilson. Oh my. I don’t like the proportions on the pants and the self-centered shirt. A waste of a perfectly good jacket.

I love Katie Cassidy’s look. Because of the amount of gold, I actually don’t mind the tights and shoes. I love the hair, make-up, and accessories as well. A great look!

Katie looks gorgeous. I love her style and I love every red carpet look of hers (I don’t think she has looked bad on the red carpet yet) And I hope she is a BDOTW contender.

As for Leighton, I really don’t like the makeup at all (I know she is trying to distance herself from the character of Blair and everything but she looks a lot better with less makeup) And the dress looks a tad wrinkled.

I don’t know who Keri is but she looks pretty, a little too casual but pretty nonetheless

Were there only 3 big stars at the Jingle Ball? Because you only have 3 photos here …

Lol I love Leighton’s makeup here but the dress is boring imo. She’s not back to her best but baby steps.

I wish Katie would’ve belted her dress. Other than that, this is another great look for her.

I really like Leighton’s look here. The dress is cool.

And her make-up looks way better up close on other pictures.

I love her shoes but I can’t find them on any site.

Keri Hilson looks like she’s walking around in downtown Manhattan.

FC, are you a fashion critic or a hair&make-up one?
I wish your opinion will be more on the clothes than the make-up or hair. Of course, it’s part of the look but let’s point it out when it’s really really bad like it happened with Alicia Keys. But Leighton’s make-up here goes perfectly with that dress, she had to make it strong so she doesn’t look too pale overall.
It’s about fashion not make-up or hair unless it’s really awful, but denying how stunning Kate Hudson looked in her Atelier Versace dress is fashion non-sense no longer fashion-sense! And you kept going on and on how her hair was not good enough but despite your repetitive and irrelevant comments about Kate’s hair, we still voted for her as BDOTW!
FC, get your focus back! ;-)

      Laura,

This is my blog I feel I can write whatever I want.

A blog is about expressing opinions and my opinion was – and still is – that her hair didn’t befit the gown.

Hair is part of the overall look so you saying my comments were irrelevant is not only patronising but also EXTREMELY rude and unnecessary.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I’m not surprised Kate won because the gown ALONE was worthy.

I had food posioing on Thursday.

I was so ill my 55 year old mother had to leave her home to literally drag me to the doctors to get a prescription because I was in so much pain. Had the medication not worked my mother was going to take me to the hospital as I was in that much pain.

On Friday I caught the flu as my immune system was down, and 5 days later I STILL have the flu.

So the fact that I have been updating this blog during that entire time is a miracle.

Your comment is NOTHING but a kick in the face to the fact the during my illness I have tried to keep up this blog and keep people like you entertained.

FC, please don’t ever forget that your work, time, and effort are greatly apprecited.
Laura is just looking for a little controversy. Aren’t you Laura?
You stay focus on getting better. Don’t get all worked up over her comment. Yes, it’s inappropriate, but it’s also trivial. Get yourself better, hon. Save your energy.

        • Fashion Critic December 9, 2009 at 00:13 #

I will save my energy and thanks for your comment xxx

        FC,
I sincerely hope you are feeling better! I wanted to add my support for how you interpret the fashions and photos you feature on your website. It is lovely to see the runway come to life at various events that you painstakingly identify. Just like a designer herself thinks about an entire look, so must the wearer or her stylist. I do not mean at all it is essential or even a good idea to copy entire runway looks. But, I agree that “bedhead- wind blown- day at the beach” certainly looks out of place with a dramatic gown, just like a gorgeous updo and jewels would look out of place with jeans and tee. Anyway, the *majority* of us come here because we enjoy your website so thoroughly & I hope you will feel 100% better and we can continue to appreciate your eye and voice.

        best,
        star

Hey Star, thanks so much for your comment and continued support.

          It’s appreciated.

FC you blog has millions of Fans, and I for one love reading all your thoughts. I also enjoy reading everyone’s comments. Laura is not the only one. Laura I appreciate your comments but really how can you tell her what to write and not write on her blog. Laura you should know better than telling grown folks what to do in the first place. You need to refocus, you are a fan of this site, not the creative director or owner of the site. I dont think you meant to be rude.

I agree with you FC, you have to bring the total package and hair and makeup is just as important as the dress or look. It is all fashion.

FC, Thank you for continuing through your illness. You have a great work ethic and your are dedicated to what you love. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us.

I saw the name Laura, and I thought you were replying to me. I was confused. I forgot there was more than one Laura commenter. lol.

      • Ally December 9, 2009 at 12:58 #

Goodness gracious. How scary! Thank goodness for mothers.

I think Leighton overdid her makeup again b/c she was performing later in another outfit (which was horrible btw, The FugGirls have a picture). She either needs to change her makeup to perform OR just wear less to perform. When you are that beautiful, you don’t need to go crazy on the eyeshadow!

        • mol December 9, 2009 at 14:04 #

Yes, that was my impression too, that she was performing later and thus the heavier than normal make-up.

F.C. I see no reason why you shouldn’t say exactly as you please, I really shake my head in wonderment at people who think they can tell you what to do with your own site!!!!!! I hope you get better soon!

          • Fashion Critic December 9, 2009 at 14:08 #

thanks Mol. I find it baffling too.

  6. butterfly jones December 8, 2009 at 17:48 #

Gorgeous make-up on Katie Cassidy (forgive me, but I do not know who she is), but Keri gets a fail due to abruptly ending eyelash extensions although the rest of her face is stunning. Agree on the outfit – meh.

  7. Mr.freddy December 8, 2009 at 17:54 #

i think leighton meester is awesome!!
she is better than keri hilson

  8. YSLGirl December 8, 2009 at 18:19 #

I would like to see Leighton up for Best Dressed. I personally like the makeup!

  9. WendyB December 8, 2009 at 18:49 #

I like that last dress a lot.

  10. Lala/S-R December 8, 2009 at 19:34 #

    Leighton looks great!
Keri Hilson’s look screams silent boredom. Oxymoron, yes, but it does. I’ve seen the Wang jacket on many and she wore it the worst of all. Could it be her narcissistic top that reads, “I love KH”?
Katie Cassidy looks amazinggggg! Show-stopping, jaw-dropping amazingggg! The dress was made for her, and yes her make-up is indeed flawless.

  11. Elaine December 8, 2009 at 20:43 #

Don’t get me wrong, I love Leighton Meester to death, but sometimes I feel like she tries too hard NOT to be like Blair Waldorf. I don’t think there’s anything wrong to dress like Blair. I don’t mean that she has to dress like that 24/7 but it almost seems like she avoids all kind of clothes that even relates to Blair. In my opinion she tries too hard to be edgy, but I love her nonetheless. I actually love Blair Waldorf style so I am kind of sad that she doesn’t dress like that in real life.

    • YSLGirl December 9, 2009 at 09:00 #

Complain about her looking edgy any other time, but she’s hardly wearing a ‘contrived’ edgy outfit here.

  12. ella December 9, 2009 at 10:23 #

leighton and katie look great but i wish leighton wore better shoes…
thank goodness kerri’s hair is back to normal – still expecting something better than this.. her look is just too casual.

    Speedy recovery FC!
