Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: November 2009

This week I also attended the Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 press day in London.

The show back in October was inspired by the ’80s and ’90s New Age traveller.

Street clothes embraced the hippie-cyber, tribal-punk world.

Mannequins were dressed in the Spring 2010 collection, plus they also had on those afro wigs.

There were only few of the mannish check shirts, baby-doll dresses and oversized parkas on display as this press day was more about the accessories.

Necklaces and bracelets looked like headphone cables in gold and sprayed with metallic paint. Other key accessories included belts in faded shades of monogram denim and jacquard, plus sunglasses laser-cut cat’s-eye shape with fluorescent pink or green visors.

The New Age woman needs a stand-out bag and the messenger bag will now sell-out because Victoria Beckham has been seen carrying it.

This bag has a detachable fox tail, which you can see from the picture above comes in various colours.

The wooden clogs with low heels and New Age monogram mules with tufts of fur were interesting to look at up close, as were the more lust worthy wooden 6in heels.

Way back in September 2008, Thandie Newton was a vision in white wearing a Jasmine di Milo Fall 2008 dress split to the thigh to the “RockNRolla” UK film premiere.

The stunning British actress swept her luscious locks to one side to show off her silver earrings, which complemented her cuff and sandals.

Daisy Lowe attends wore the same dress in black last week, when she attended a cocktail reception for the launch of the “2010 Pirelli Calendar” at Old Billingsgate Market in London.

There was nothing about her look I didn’t love, which surprises me considering the tights and black pumps.

Daisy wins as I love the way the tights work with the sheer panel on her dress.

It seems like only yesterday we were viewing the Spring 2010 collections, now designers are gearing up to present Pre-Fall 2010.

On Thursday 3rd December 2009 Karl Lagerfeld will unveil his latest Metier D’Arts collection in Shanghai.

This is the eighth Metier D’Arts collection following Paris, Tokyo, New York, Monaco, London and Moscow, all locations which have a link to Chanel.

Although Coco Chanel never visited China, she had a strong interest in Asian arts and antiques and Karl Lagerfeld has therefore brought to life the collection she never had the chance to create.

Shanghai is also the site of Chanel newest boutique, which has opened in the Peninsula Hotel yesterday.

Chanel have set up a Paris-Shanghai mini site in which we get a behind the scenes view of the creative process in putting this collection together including fittings, a peek inside Coco Chanel’s apartment, and a look a Chanel pieces which are exclusive to the Shanghai store.

There will be 13 episodes in total and 6 are already live.

Earlier this week America Ferrera was spotted filming scenes for “Ugly Betty” with co-star Eric Mabius.

America as Betty was surprisingly toned down for her character.

Normally Betty is seen wearing clashing bright colours, but on this occasion she wore subtle navy and black, with the only pop of colour colour coming from her sandals.

This look allowed her Fendi Velvet Squirrel Spy Bag to stand-out.

This 2005 Limited Edition Fendi Velvet Squirrel Spy Bag is made of a soft burgundy velvet, with an embroidered detail which included a squirrel – hence the name – plus sparkling rhinestones woven into the embroidery.

If you’re thinking “that’s one ugly bag”, the demand for this bag back in 2005 was huge.

Happy Thanksgiving xxx
