Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: November 2009

Jessica Szohr wore the blue print version of this Thakoon Spring 2010 dress to this prestigious event.

I’m glad she picked the darker colour, as I would love to see the lighter print saved for the Spring.

Strappy booties and tamed sleek straight hair complete this look.

What? No ankle boots?

Alexa Chung looks really cute wearing a red Jason Wu Spring 2010 dress with a ruffled neckline.

I love those bold red lips.  It’s very rare that we see her wearing make-up.

Ballet flats complete the look, but I’m also missing the black runway waist belt.

Cassie looked really good on this occasion.

The singer donned an off-the-shoulder black and gold striped Brian Reyes draped dress from the Spring 2010 collection.

The dress was paired with open-toe booties.

Georgina Chapman wore a black Marchesa Fall 2009 dress, which has an intricate embroidered detail all over.

The designer paired her dress with the same Christian Louboutin for Marchesa lace ankle boots as the runway model, plus a black clutch from her Spring 2010 collection.

Coco Rocha looked fierce in wearing this Rodarte Spring 2009 black and white dress on the runway, but Karen Elson softens the look by adding black pumps and bouncy curls.

Many of you hated Nicole Kidman’s last L’Wren Scott dress at the CMA’s.

On this occasion she wore a stunning ivory Lanvin tulle lace gown.

Her boobs aren’t squashed, she not too washed out, the black sash tied to the waist is adorably accented with a white rose.

Love it or hate it?

Christine Centenera is the Fashion Editor for Harper’s Bazaar Australia and Lara Bingle’s stylist.

Recently Christine has become the subject of many fashion and style blog  thanks to her achingly cool style achievements. Showing up to local and international fashion events has created perfect photo-ops-made for catching this on-trend lady.

Christine is a leading head in fashion and we wouldn’t expect anything less than a strong developed sense of style. With a natural edge and soft, pretty features Christine remains approachable-looking.

She mixes and matches her wardrobe and isn’t afraid to wear things more than once.

I’ve found some of the top picks of Christine’s personally styled pieces to share.

Here is Christine supporting local Australian Designer and fellow Aussie Josh Goot.

This brilliant Spring 2009 dress is a psychedelic splash of fun and vibrancy.

Layered with a serious black jacket, scarf and gloves Christine smartens the look, toughening it further with those patent to-die-for YSL’s.

Again combining two different feels- laid-back battered denims and a white tee with a sharp statement Balmain Fall 2009 jacket.

The high-end jacket says luxury but the denim and tee oppose this giving a ‘just-thrown-together’ look. This has a great feel.

She sure know how to vamp it up, though.

Christine shows us how it’s done in amazing Gucci fall 2009 platform thigh-high boots. I love the mix of slouchy and body-con. It’s comfortable yet exudes cool.

Christine is lucky enough to have a stunning piece of Prada to flaunt and here she heightens the luxe feel of a sheer Chloe shirt with a Prada costume jewellery necklace.

Green gems are natural-looking and add attention-grabbing shine to her outfit.

Proving just how shiny and special they are to her, Christine’s YSL Tributes have made regular appearances accompanying all from dresses to jeans.

They sex-up a lot of what she wears and are flawless-looking giving Christine added height and dominance as a modern working woman.

Christine is apparently ‘a self-confessed sucker for anything with studs, metal detailing or patent leather. Perferably all three at once’.

I love the rock sensibility of her look and these Givenchy Fall 2009 beauties harden a soft grey marl dress worn by Christine during Paris Fashion Week.

These shoes show who’s in charge.

Keeping it simple but daring to be different with smart fashion-forward touches are the key to Christine’s look. Her recipe for successful dressing comprises of sticking to block colours that are comfortable whilst playing with layers.

And final ingredient; a killer heel.

As hard as I tried, I just couldn’t love Kristen Stewart in this stunning Oscar de la Renta Resort 2010 tulle gown.

If she wanted to be the Bella of this ball she shouldn’t scowled her way down the red carpet, and she should’ve done more with her hair.

For me this is a waste of a stunning gown.

As much as it was Kristen’s night, Dakota Fanning stole her red carpet thunder.

The teen actress wore a cute Valentino Spring 2010 lace dress paired with a maroon satin pair of platform heels.

I would’ve loved it if she had kept the cute bow, but I guess she was going for a more grown up look.

Definitely a BDOTW contender…

…as is Ashley Greene .

She was a total knock-out wearing a Prabal Gurung Fall 2009 ravishing red gown.

The high-neck gown had an incredibly sexy draping detail at the back.

Half-up-half-down hairstyles usually bother me, but Ashley has so much good going on I can not fault her.

Noot Seear surprised me being the 3rd celebrity to wear a piece from Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2010 collection.

I’ll admit I didn’t know who she was, but the Canadian actress sure does justice to this reptile print dress.

Instead of the Armadillo heels she opted for a sexy pair of strappy platform heels.

Anna Kendrick sparkled on the red carpet wearing a Talbot Runhof Fall 2009 black asymmetrical one sleeve sequin-mini dress.

This dress sure does put you in the festive spirit with the red and white studs which add a bit of colour to this cute/sexy mini.

She completed her look with Stella McCartney heels.

I’m very grateful to Christian Serratos for modifying this Rafael Cennamo Fall 2009 gown into a cute and sassy mini dress.

I just wish her gold and silver pailette covered mini dress was worn with better shoes.

Those bronze ankle boots are like kryptonite to my eyes.

Author Stephenie Meyer glided down the red carpet wearing a custom-made Carolina Herrera gown with a mermaid hem.

The gown is loosely based black and grey embroidered sheath dress which was presented on the Fall 2009 runway.

I love how much more dramatic Stephenie’s gown is to the runway look.

A chic updo and Gothic beads complete this stunning look.

Julia Jones showed off her legs wearing a sexy coral BCBG Max Azria mini dress.

I just love this colour against her caramel skin.

What a beauty.

Julianne Hough’s look has a touch of de ja vu to it, as it reminds me of the Prabal Gurung look we saw on Becki Newton recently.

Nikki Reed opted for a stunning silk baby blue Burberry mini dress, paired with Christian Louboutin heels.

Chloe Sevigny was definitely the poster girl for Miu Miu this weekend.

We saw her Spring 2010 look yesterday, this time she wore one of those plunging Miu Miu dress with a built in bra from the Fall 2009 collection.

As much as I like the dress, it’s not really working for me on Chloe.  The previous kooky look fitted her style more than this embellished dress.

Zoe Saldana opted for a colour-block dress from the same collection which doesn’t work either.

Surprisingly the only thing I like here are the berry tights.

I just wish she’d done more with her hair.  It looks very limp here.

Christina Ricci can do sassy and she can do demure.

The beautiful actress opted for a silver Prada dress with an embellished detail on the shoulder.

Ginnifer Goodwin is looks absolutely adorable in this ivory dress adorned with black rosette details.

Simple, but as always oh so chic.

We’re starting to notice a pattern forming with Jessica Alba.

Simple black – or in this case navy – dresses that neither excite, nor delight.

There is nothing wrong with going au natural, but there is a time and a place.

Note to Jessica Biel: the red carpet is not the place.

Please apply some make-up to warm you up a bit.

It bad enough that you are sucking the life out of this dress – which is your trademark – but please a bit of blusher next time.

I beg you.

This little green Emilio Pucci Spring 2009 number is a gem of a dress.

We have seen it worn by both Kate Hudson and Hilary Rhoda earlier this year.

ASOS have created their very own version, a fantastic copy of the same cut and colour.

Shimmering your way onto the dance floor this season with this affordable fun bod con dress.

It’s available to purchase from ASOS.com.

Maria Sharapova wore this slinky Thakoon Fall 2008 dress to a dinner organised for her at Chateau Marmont.

The tennis star looked great in bold blue opting to add a chunky silver necklace, which I don’t think this piece needs with its high neckline.

I don’t like her over-styled hair much either. I can smell the hairspray from here Maria?!

Ciara looked beautiful wearing the same wool crepe shift with trusted Louboutin pumps to sit front row at Thakoon’s Spring 2010 presentation during New York Fashion Week.

It drapes over her body sublimely and the punchy colour works for her. I’m jealous of Ciara’s uber-glossy waves too!

Ciara wins this WWIB for me, what do you think?

This dress is available to purchase from Net-A-Porter.
