Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: October 2009

It’s been a while since I featured Australian model Lara Bingle on my blog, but one thing hasn’t changed in that time, her love for Prada.

Earlier today Lara and her cricketer fiancé Michael Clarke unveiled a poster for their first joint campaign as the faces of Aussie energy drink ‘Synergy’.

Forget Brand Beckham, this is Brand Bingle as the Australian couple try to emulate the British couple with a sexy ad campaign.

The gorgeous model wore a Prada Resort 2010 dress with a nude cowl backed top and a baby blue and coral striped skirt.

I love the dress, but we get a thud at the feet.

Once again a perfectly cute look is ruined by the wrong shoes.

This candy coloured dress deserved better than grey suede Louboutin’s.

She normally does head-to-toe runway, so I’m really surprised she didn’t wear the runway heels.

I never thought I would ever see a Christian Lacroix Couture finale wedding dress off the runway, but Dita von Teese looked angelic in Paris as she posed in the gown on a shoot for Harper’s Bazaar Russia this weekend.

The ivory Fall 2009 Couture gown is embroidered with a gold leaf design, and accented with colourful roses.

Dita even wore the lace sleeved gown with the runway necklace.

I love that we get to see this look off the runway, but it would’ve been even better if they’d changed Dita’s hair and make-up for this particular shot to make the character she is trying to portray more believable.

That runway headscarf would’ve made a world of difference.

Dita’s hair and make-up on the other hand is perfect for this particular shot.

The star leans against a bicycle on a Parisian street, with her Valentino Fall 2009 Couture black coat unbuttoned revealing her stockings and suspenders and a lacy Wonderbra.

Her look is of course paired with Louboutin heels.

Very Dita.

I love the peacock style ruffled fan on this coat.

It will be interesting to see the finished editorial.

OMG.

That is what I said when I saw Cheryl Cole take the stage on the X Factor with her fellow judges Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Simon Cowell on Saturday night.

I would’ve expected Cheryl to wear a this Atelier Versace Spring 2009 strapless gold embellished dress to the finale show, but Mrs Cole wanted to wow us from the start and she did just that.

The only thing I wondered was how was she going to sit in that dress. The skirt has a bird cage like structured skirt and those seats look so narrow.

I half expected the camera to pan to her and see her in another dress.

I can only assume the dress has some kind of collapse mechanism to allow the wearer to sit.

The look was paired with gold leopard print heels from her favourite shoe designer Rupert Sanderson.

BDOTW contender for sure.

Her hair was styled into a loose single plait which was swept across one shoulder, which seems to be inspired by Alexander Wang’s Spring 2010 models.

Sorry it took so long post this. I had to make sure I proper rights to these pictures as I didn’t want to be sued by peeps at X Factor. X Factor posts will be earlier next week.

Joseph Altuzarra is only in his second season but stars like Paula Patton and Kim Kardashian are putting his label firmly on the map.

I just LOVE how Kim’s curves fill every inch of this white Altuzarra Fall 2009 dress, making it almost look like a totally different dress from the runway.

I would sooner buy it after seeing it on her, than the runway model.

The sexy star pairs her winter white dress with nude Brian Atwood pumps and a snake skin print clutch.

Thank god she’s back to her natural hair colour.

Sophia Bush along with Kim puts herself in contention for BDOTW.

As I said last week Sophia is back, and this sexy lace turtleneck Max Azria Fall 2009 mini dress shows how.

She looks sexy, a bit edgy, yet still the sophisticated Sophia we all know and love.

Cheryl Burke opted to modify her Gustavo Cadile Fall 2009 mini dress into a strapless dress.

I think this maroon dress with the embellished ribbon benefits from the modification, as Cheryl is simply glowing.

Now this is how I like to see Lauren Conrad.

Wearing something young, fun and COLOURFUL.

Her Mara Hoffman Spring 2010 floral print dress deserved some better shoes, but I will just have to live with the fact that Hollywood loves black pumps.

This look is also one of my favourites from this event.

Hayden Panettiere wore a lavender mini Dennis Basso Spring 2010 dress with draped hips. I love the shape and her taupe accessories which include Bally peep toes, Lauren Merkin “Eve” clutch in glitter python.

Katie Cassidy knows how to look sexy without looking trashy.

My mini Charlize Theron looked stunning wearing a poufy sleeved mini dress which revealed her sexy back, and her winged tattoo.

I love the dress, the shoes and the clutch, but I’m not so crazy about the hair.

It may not be as colourful as I would like, but Selena Gomez looks stunning wearing this Notte by Marchesa off shoulder stretch crepe dress with ruffle sleeves.

It’s a grown up look, but not a boring look for the young actress.

With their trademark platium blonde ‘do’s Kelly Osbourne and DJ Luke Worrall couldn’t keep their eyes off each other as they walked the red carpet.

She wore a black and white ensemble with a jeweled neckline, paired with metallic silver Trib Two’s and orange nail polish.

It’s the child I feel sorry for. Pamela Anderson should know better.

What the fudge is she wearing?  Any why are their safety pins holding her dress together?  Like this look wasn’t tragic enough.

Premiere

Penelope Cruz arrived on the red carpet for the “Broken Embraces” premeire which closed “New York Film Festival” wearing a silvery grey Haider Ackermann Fall 2009 ensemble.

The look comes in 3 parts including a grey diagonal seamed skirt with an unfinished hem.

An anthracite grey wool asymmetric hooded waistcoat with a cowled front and a chunky chrome zip.

The look in complete with a dark grey leather jacket with strong padded shoulders, an inverted collar and an asymmetric hemline.

At first I wasn’t crazy about Pen in this look, but the more I see the look the more I love it as it’s such a departure from what I would expect from her.

If you cast your minds back to Cannes Film Festival you will remember that Tilda Swinton wore a similar look in a gorgeous deep maroon colour.

Paper Magazine Dinner Honoring Pedro Almodovar & Penelope Cruz

For this party thrown in her honour Penelope wore a white Chanel Resort 2010 dress with gold embroidered details on the shoulders and pockets.

I much prefer how this look worked on the runway with the cropped embroidered pants.

Pen paired her look with gold Jimmy Choo heels.

Press Conference

Penelope appeared to have kept the same make-up for every look.

For the press conference she wore an Alexander McQueen Houndstooth check pencil dress.

This is my favourite look of the 3 as this ultra-chic houndstooth wool drape-front pencil dress shows off her gorgeous figure.

The Spanish actress paired her dress with a black satin pumps.
