Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: October 2009

Ciara attended the Los Angeles Premiere of “Orphan” in July wearing a Gryphon sequin racerback tank paired with leather pants and black pumps.

This was back in the day when she was sporting a shorter cropped ‘do.

Serena Williams wore the same sparkling tank to the “Whip It” premiere last month, opting to wear hers with a black blazer, cropped pants, black heels and gold accessories.

I love way both ladies wore this look. Ciara’s look was edgy, whereas Serena look was very smart.

I’m not a big fan of leather pants, especially when worn in summer so I will give the win to Serena.

Anna Dello Russo is the fashion director and creative consultant for Vogue Nippon.

I’ve always wanted to focus on her unique style, as she must have the most enviable closet of any fashionista.

She wears all the daring pieces I wish we would see on the red carpet.

She’s bold and fearless, without going over board.  She’s always tasteful and chic.

I maybe be wrong, but I’m yet to see her repeat a look like Carine Roitfeld and Anna Wintour.

Here’s a look a some of her recently looks which I’m totally in love with.

My favourite look has to be this Balenciaga dress for two reasons.

Firstly it looks so divine on her, and secondly it’s a beautiful colour combination.

I thought celebrities would’ve been queuing up around the block to get their hands on this beautiful dress, so I’m very grateful to Anna wearing this look.

This round neck dress with long billowy sleeves is by Greek born designer Mary Katrantzou.

I love the print which is inspired by a perfume bottle and the refractive quality of glass.

I think this would be hard for many to pull off, but Anna does with relative ease.

When Pink and Sharika are picking same dress from Balmain’s Fall 2009 45 piece collection, Anna wore this strapless silver futuristic dress with a peplum at the waist.

Anna exudes ladylike sophistication in her Chloé bow-detailed asymmetric silk blouse, which she paired with an orange silk Rochas skirt, nude heels and a Louis Vuitton speedy.

Not many would be daring enough to wear such a fashion forward Dolce & Gabbana look during the day.

We wear jeans, Anna wears high fashion.

In this second Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2009 look, we finally get to see the back of this stunning lace/sheer dress, which Anna is daring enough to wear without any linings.

If Rihanna is looking for an edgy, yet sophisticated way to approach fashion, she should take some style tips from Anna Dello Russo.

The team at Harper’s Bazaar work very fast because last week they shot Kate Hudson in what appears to be at white themed Harper’s Bazaar editorial wearing Spring 2010 looks that had only just come off the runway.

Kate Hudson was a perfect vision in white as she posed for photographer Peter Lindbergh on the streets of Manhattan.

Kate looked like a blushing bride wearing a white organza tea length Marchesea Spring 2010 gown with embroidered tulle bodice, paired with white Christian Louboutin Lolo Ballerina pumps.

Whilst wearing the wedding-esqe gown she carried a bouquet of red roses with matched her lip colour.

This Versace Spring 2010 white and silver haltered dress was paired with the same platformed heels as presented on the runway, which you can just about see through the shopping cart.

Even behind the shopping cart she still sparkles.

Kate’s son Ryder shared the spotlight with his mother as she looked drop-dead gorgeous showing off her legs in an embellished Emilo Pucci Spring 2010 mini dress with a feathered hem.

Her look was paired with a white Bally bag and gold platform peep-toes.

I wonder which will be the cover shot.

America Ferrera & Esquire Host A Save The Children Benefit

The cast of “Ugly Betty” attended two events in New York City last night, but it was only America Ferrera – host of this benefit – who had two looks.

America walked the red carpet wearing a black Moshino safety pin-embellished crepe dress paired with gold peep-toes.

I love the stunning slim-fitting silhouette plus the safety pins and Swarovski crystals embellishments, but I’m not a fan of mixing metals.

My personal preference is that you either wear gold or silver, but it’s a minor detail when she looks this amazing.

Evening With “Ugly Betty”

Becki Newton looked amazing wearing a ruffled Prabal Gurung Fall 2009 sleeveless top paired with a striped tulip skirt from the same collection.

She took a night off wearing her favourite Jimmy Choo Karina studded shoe-boots and opted for a sexy black sandal.

Perfectly petite and polished as always.

Becki picked this look out a few weeks ago during New York Fashion Week when she visited the designer at his New York studio.

I don’t know about you, but I actually prefer this look on America Ferrera.

I adore her cropped pants and the 3/4 length sleeved jacket which nips her in at the waist to give her a streamlined silhouette.

It’s such a chic interpretation of a pants suit, that I wish to emulate this look as soon as I can.

Gold peep-toes and a white v-neck tee complete the look.

Vanessa Williams adds an interesting element to her asymmetrical LBD with two tone ankle strapped heels.
