Runway To Courage In Journalism Awards – Diane Kruger In J.Mendel

Diane Kruger continued her impressive form on the red carpet last night at the “International Women’s Media Foundation’s Courage In Journalism Awards” in LA.

She was breath-taking wearing a silver satin strapless J.Mendel Spring 2010 dress with a structural cocoon skirt.

Her make-up was light, her hair was pulled back, but it was her clutch that really made a huge statement.

Her Lanvin Pop leopard clutch from the Spring 2009 collection is flashy but definitely not trashy.

Animal print can be questionable – just look at past looks of Sharon Stone for confirmation – but Alber Elbaz gave this wild look a fresh shade.

I never have and probably never will care for J. Mendel’s dull designs. I’m glad Diane Kruger completed the look with that Lanvin outfit, otherwise I would’ve been bored. I prefer it when she takes risks.

      Lanvin clutch*

Really agree with you. J Mendel makes me yawn most of the time. But that clutch makes all the difference, and it needed a simple look to work.

Diane Krugers is so consistent, apart from a couple of looks, she has been the best dressed of this year. I think in my top 10 looks of the year so far, I have at least 3 times her.

Ha! Totally. She makes it so much harder for everyone else. still crossing my fingers for Michelle Monaghan to make the cut this week.

I like the make up and dress- but the shoes – NOT!

it was great until it got to the shoes. black shoed with a silver dress?????

    • Kim October 29, 2009 at 22:05 #

I mean helloooo and they look like going to the mall shoes or something!

    • YSLGirl October 29, 2009 at 22:50 #

What’s wrong with black shoes with a silver dress? Black shoes pretty much go with anything.

      • robbie October 30, 2009 at 00:48 #

black shoes are predictable, and those one she is wearing look rather heavy for a “light” outfit.

    how incredibly beautiful is she?
she should have her own BDOTW cause 90% of the times she makes a public appearance she is perfection from head to toe

      agreed

The only thing I love more than Dianne Kruger is how Sharon Stone is the go-to girl when you warn people about wearing animal print!

I like the black shoes – it works with the purse, don’t know exactly how to explain it, maybe they counterbalance it or something, but IMO it works. The dress is just a nicely shaped blank slate in between these two elements.

I adore her shoes…! it’s such a welcome change from the oppressive black bootie look… much more fun and youthful…

    BDOTW competitor!!!

    • Fashion Critic October 30, 2009 at 06:07 #

      Her Wu was better IMO

Diane is always flawless. She’s a natural beauty and really, i can’t think of one single instance where she got it wrong!

You know, looking at that clutch, I don’t think it is leopard print – it seems to be a font. Can any-one make out if it is saying something?

THIS DRESS IS STUNNING, VERY ARCHITECTURAL. SIMPLE AND ELEGANT AND GLAMOROUS. J. MENDEL IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE DESIGNERS. I JUST BOUGHT IT FOR MY NIECE’S WEDDING AND CAN’T WAIT TO WEAR IT. BLACK AND SILVER/GREY ARE DEFINITELY FABULOUS TOGETHER.
