16th Annual Elle Women In Hollywood Tribute

Zoe Saldana glowed as always wearing a Calvin Klein Spring 2010 ivory dress.

The dress which is gathered on the skirt to give it some shape was paired with gold accessories.

Jenna Dewan was one of my favourites on this red carpet, as she dazzled me wearing a stunning Edition by Georges Chakra Fall 2009 grey ombre dress with sequin bodice.

Black t-bar Louboutin’s and a black clutch complete this gorgeous look.

Theron’s mini me, Katie Cassidy looked sophisticated and demure wearing an ivory Lela Rose Spring 2010 halter dress which had a metallic silver print and waist band.

Her hair was loosely pulled back as she paired her dress with silver Jimmy Choo “Flynn” sandals.

Fabulous as always.

At first I didn’t quite like Juilanne Moore’s Calvin Klein Spring 2010 ivory, grey and black tank dress at first, but it’s slowing growing on me.

It’s not BDOTW worthy, but she makes it work for her.

I do love the texture.

Diane Kruger opted for a cute short sleeved Balenciaga blue, white and black printed dress with draping around the hips to define the waist.

I like the shape of her dress and the polka dot tights don’t bother me, but I so would’ve referred her to wear the runway version.

There has been a lot of rumors that Renee Zellweger and Carolina Herrera have parted ways, but this cherry red strapless pencil dress screams Carolina Herrera to me.

I love the bow detail on the back, which is accented with an gold jewel detail.

Becki Newton looks divine wearing a ivory corseted Dolce & Gabbana strapless dress with a flirty chiffon skirt.

I love her silver strappy sandals, but I’m drooling over her Chloe bow embellished clutch.

One of my many pet peeves are exposed bra’s – anywhere – this is not exclusive to the red carpet.

If Katie Holmes was going to show us her bra under her black sheer Azzedine Alaia ensemble she could’ve at least worn a push up bra.

Emily Blunt wore a nude tulle strapless Dolce & Gabbana nude strapless dress with a grosgrain waist belt tied into a cute bow.

Her accessories were very complementary to her look without being to matchy matchy.

Robin Wright Penn wore an Emporio Armani black tuxedo jacket and black satin skinny trousers, paired with open-toe Christian Louboutin heels.

I hope she reverts back to those wow-factor looks we saw from her at Cannes.

Dianna Agron wore a strapless D&G tulle dress with Burberry Prorsum platform heels.

These heels are so heavy for this pretty dress.

Brenda Strong’s black David Meister sheath dress is accented by an amazing crystal beaded neckline.

I could gush about that stunning neckline all day, as it’s so pretty.

Sofia Vassilieva looked so cute, in her age appropriate Ina Soltani white party dress with black leather strap details.

The lucky teen got to wear stunning Swarovski jewelry with her fabulous dress.

Another teen cutie Miranda Cosgrove wore a Vena Cava Mandala dress.

The two-tone crew-neck silk dress features a sheer chiffon yoke and asymmetrical metallic fringe and chiffon ruffles on the body.

I love the embellishments on this dress.

Cat Deeley normally always looks fabulous, but on this occasion she looks a hot mess.

Leave this look to those trashy D Listers Cat, you’re way better than this.

Whilst I don’t particularly have a problem with what Amber Rose to this event because she will never look anything but tacky to me, I did have a huge issue with her Ocotber Elle US magazine editorial which was more Maxim than Elle.

Of course it was style by Kanye West.

Elle, seriously, what were you thinking?

Becki looks amazing. Sofia also looks pretty but the lips age her a bit.

Cat Deeley is so beautiful, but not here, she does look a mess, However I pick her over Amber Rose,Gaudy eyelashes and even gaudier Contacts… who invited her?

    • Fashion Critic October 21, 2009 at 12:48 #

I would love to know who invited her too . Talk about lowering the tone

  2. Ally October 21, 2009 at 12:44 #

Pretty much everyone looks great here. Kat does usually look fabulous, but she does miss every once in a while. And Amber is pretty much always a no. And I definitely agree about the no exposed bra thing. So many pretty dresses and then a big “klunk” for “fashionista” Katie.

It is exciting to see Dianna Agron on the redcarpet. Glee probably hasn’t made it overseas yet, but it is wonderful!

  3. Gaber October 21, 2009 at 12:50 #

Hi, my name is Gaber and I am an Amberoholic!
I think it’s the short hair why I love her. Don’t get me wrong, most of the I just want to puke and then use her outfit as a napkin – but sometimes she actually does it. And this time, the colour is insane and she looks stunning.
I am guessing this will be my most memorable look of the week.

    • Fashion Critic October 21, 2009 at 12:54 #

      Is there an Amberoholic Anonymous?

If so please seek them out LOL

      J/K

    • justme October 21, 2009 at 15:57 #

      LOL
I liker her hair too, very unusual and I think she has a great body. I just wish she’d dress better. I mean, she has access to designer’s stuff thanks to Kanye’s credit card so why does she always go for the tackiest pieces? *sigh*

  4. Fash-Inn October 21, 2009 at 12:58 #

Emily looks gorgeous. nude colours suits her. renee is ordinary as usual. i like diane’s style too. she’s so country girl!

  5. sydneycheapchic October 21, 2009 at 13:07 #

No versace gowns but i actually thought the outfits for this event was so much better than the museum gala one.. not because of the designs but just by how the ladies (well most) have put their outfits together. not too over the top… they’ve let their natural beauty shine through.

Zoe, Jemma, Katie C, Becki, Diane stood out for me. Special mention to Emily Blunt. Haven’t seen her on red carpet for awhile, but to me she is consistently good.

  6. ahot October 21, 2009 at 13:30 #

amber is a master in making a nice outfit so tacky that even a ghetto girl won´t like it. I wonder everytime how she achieve it. Maybe it´s the tattoo or her pink face. I do love the hair though

  7. Methedrine October 21, 2009 at 13:38 #

Wow there’s so many great look at this event! My favorite are sofia, diane, katie and zoe!

  8. YSLGirl October 21, 2009 at 13:38 #

Diane Kruger for Best Dressed of the Week, please! She seems to be the only fashion-forward person at this event.

I like Zoe Saldana and Julianne Moore (but not on this occasion for the latter). She is a true style icon! She also styles herself and does her own makeup and hair. Now that’s amazing! Sofia looks good, too.

Emily would’ve looked great if everything wasn’t so matchy matchy.

  9. Mimi October 21, 2009 at 14:12 #

Zoe Saldana is fast becoming my fave on the red carpet. She always looks stylish and fabulous.

I love Julianne Moore but she looks ridiculous in that dress, especially with those shoes. I think she is too old to wear shoes like that.

    I love Emily Blunt’s look.

I agree re. the heels on Dianna Agron.

Brenda Strong looks stunning. Really impressed by that dress and how she wears it.

I can’t even look at Cat she looks so awful. Why is she posing like that and what happened to her face?

  10. SarahV October 21, 2009 at 14:17 #

I love what Julianne Moore wore here… I don’t know, it just feels fresh to me, different from the gowns/dresses we usually see on the red carpet!

  11. Snarky Sharky October 21, 2009 at 14:32 #

Sofia Vassilieva’s dress is cute but those red lips are a tad too much.

    Almost everybody looks great here!

  12. mm October 21, 2009 at 14:47 #

LOL at your comment on Kanye styling Amber for Elle. Of course a man is going to show of his goods! I so agree with you that was a Maxim spread! Amber on the red carpet is an example of what having a pretty face and the right connections can do for you. You don’t really need talent to be famous. Very disappointing for those truly talented folks. Love Brenda Strong’s and Emily Blunt looks! Robin Wright Penn is giving us the Blake Lively head tilt.

  13. Cleopatra October 21, 2009 at 14:57 #

FC sometimes you are so wickedly funny i was laughing out loud when i read your reviews. i have to agree with you on practically everything, is Katie wearing a sports bra?? and i think tho dressed simply, robin wright looks damn sexy and has rediscovered her mojo BIG TIME since her divorce, amber rose’s elle pictures were beyond obsene and tacky, how much more kanye related garbage do we have to take?? what kills me is amber is actually very pretty, but insists on looking like a ‘hot mess’ as you say lol. thanks for a nice distraction from a boring work day!

    • Fashion Critic October 21, 2009 at 15:00 #

I’m happy to put a smile on your face as ease the pain of a boring day at work :D

  14. Sophia October 21, 2009 at 15:05 #

Everyone pretty much looked amazing at this event, with a few exceptions…

Favourite looks are: Diane, we havn’t seen her on the red carpet for a while but she looks really fresh and amazing. Loved what Zoe was wearing too. :)

  15. robbie October 21, 2009 at 15:37 #

zoe, love the dress thank god she didnt wear those big clunky black shoes.

jenna, that is a gorgeous dress.

katie, wow amazing. those flynn sandals are gonna be like the new glenys by the looks of things.

diane, gorgeous as always the tights are a nice touch.

renee, yup this dress does scream carolina herrera.

becki, amazing! that dress is so cute and the clutch *drools*

katie, even with the bra showing i dont care. im just glad she is back and looks AMAZING! she looks like she used to back in 2007.

emily, she is gorgeous as always. love her and her shoes look like the same louboutins that SJP wore on the SATC2 set.

robin, mehhh not excited, wowed or even shocked. satin trousers seriously????? wow!

dianna, perfect example of a pretty light flowy dress being weighed down with heavy chunky shoes.

brenda, OH MY GOD! that neckline is just amazing.

sofia, sorry but red lips on someone her age??? HELL NO! UGLY SHOES!

cat, *cries* this look is terrible. god sake amber looks better than her!

amber, for once she looks quite good not showing too much bu that god damn tattoo just ruins it. wonder how much kanye had to pay for her to be in ELLE. kanye styled her he does know that he has no style either though.

    • Petri October 22, 2009 at 01:53 #

      Sofia’s shoes are Christian Louboutin.
I have the same and love them. They are the best

      • Fashion Critic October 22, 2009 at 09:08 #

        thanks Petri

  16. Kim October 21, 2009 at 15:59 #

For some wacky reason I like Amber too! LOL

Katie’s bra is a mess. It’s not like she can’t afford a good one!

I think Robin’s look is very cute. It’s not what I would have expected but it works very well for me and her body looks amazing!

  17. stinalotta October 21, 2009 at 16:00 #

Diane Krüger looks as wonderful as always :)
Also, I really love Emily Blunt’s and Becki Newton’s dresses.
Also-also, someone needs to teach Renee Zellweger how to pose on the red carpet. The first picture is so awkward!

  18. Marvel October 21, 2009 at 16:00 #

Apparently Suri Cruise helped Katie picked her dress.. Nuff said

    • Fashion Critic October 21, 2009 at 16:09 #

      right….

  19. justme October 21, 2009 at 16:02 #

Zoe’s dress is very cute but the girl is getting smaller by the minute.

I love Jenna’s look. She made a smart move by ditching that mess of a jacket thingy and I like the all-black accessories theme she went for.

Katie C. is back in my good graces lol. Fabulous indeed.

LOL @ the other Katie. Guuuurl, of all the bras in the world?

  20. amelia October 21, 2009 at 17:35 #

diane should have really worn the runway version, would have been fabulous on her. Katie Holmes looks hideous

  21. mol October 21, 2009 at 17:51 #

Becki Newton always looks so polished and cute to me – and she pays attention to all the details. I too drool over her clutch and I love how she let it shine without competition from any excess jewlery. Her dress is divine too, in a subtle, clean and fresh way, love the criss cross draping – she could be a BDOTW for me as sometimes simplicity really makes me fall in love! I also love Katie Holmes despite the no no on the exposed bra – she too looks young and carefree in a way that she hasn’t in awhile, (although I most def wouldn’t see her as a BD contender). The other standout for me is Julianna Moore’s Calvin Klein dress, the details of which are shown off better on the model – Julianna’s coloring is great for this look, but the dress just ends up being inert and boxy on her here.

  22. Stylerep October 21, 2009 at 21:48 #

OMG I was feeling the same way when I saw the ELLE editorial…I was a little bothered, tbh(to be honest)..

    • Fashion Critic October 21, 2009 at 23:47 #

      I was furious.

  23. Tania October 21, 2009 at 23:21 #

Love Zoe Jenna and Amber looks. If either three are up for BDOTW I will be happy.

    • Fashion Critic October 21, 2009 at 23:45 #

      Amber as in Amber Rose….? j/k ;)

  24. Laura October 22, 2009 at 00:57 #

Katie Holmes is not the type to wear an exposed bra. She’s usually safe, safe, safe. Often stylish and well put together, but I’m pretty sure that she didn’t realize shirt was so sheer.

As for how Amber manages to make anything look tacky: it’s her body language (though her accessories often help.) Her poses for Elle were seriously pornographic. I don’t want to open a fashion magazine and look at a woman’s spread-legged crotch shot. Poor choices by the editors in using those photos. Would have been better not to include her. (I think she’s pretty, and really wish I could like her more.)

    Sofia looks just perfect!

  25. Lala/S-R October 22, 2009 at 05:34 #

Amber Rose is gorg, FC! Tacky, sometimes. BUT, gorg nonetheless! I think she looks great in that dress, sans her tattoos ofcourse.
Zoe is looking like she should hit the closest hospital! She looks famished!!! I’m I the only one bold enough to say it? Did she lose more weight? Anyway, she’s a cute girl.
Sofia Vassilieva looks so damn cute!! Love her looks for her.

    • Fashion Critic October 22, 2009 at 09:08 #

She is beautiful, that is never in question.

  26. Lee October 22, 2009 at 11:50 #

My favorites are Jenna Dewan, Becki Newton and Emily Blunt. I stared at Emily for a good few minutes.. she looks absolutely breathtaking. Hope she’s up for BDOTW.

Think that the older ladies Robin Penn and Brenda Strong look great – very age appropriate but not too ‘old-lady’. Julianne Moore is just a no-no at this event.

  27. Glinda October 22, 2009 at 18:06 #

I agree the runway version of Diane Kruger’s dress seems so much more “her”. Shorten the hem like she loves to do and it would have been the real standout of the evening (even with the swiss dot tights).

Whoever started the campaign to try to make people see Katie Holmes as a “fashion icon” has some ‘splaining to do. I swear Tom Cruise must write big checks because I have not seen her look good EVER–yet she actually gets mentions all the time in fashion mags. Worst of all she’s now is being marketed as a designer! The madness needs to stop! Girl can’t dress herself to save her life and makes terrible choices pretty consistently.

  28. Bella October 24, 2009 at 12:38 #

Fyi in case you didn’t know: Megan Fox wore the dress Amber is wearing to the Jennifer’s Body premiere in LA but in a different color. :)

    • Fashion Critic October 24, 2009 at 12:49 #

      I did know thank you
