Premiere
Penelope Cruz arrived on the red carpet for the “Broken Embraces” premeire which closed “New York Film Festival” wearing a silvery grey Haider Ackermann Fall 2009 ensemble.
The look comes in 3 parts including a grey diagonal seamed skirt with an unfinished hem.
An anthracite grey wool asymmetric hooded waistcoat with a cowled front and a chunky chrome zip.
The look in complete with a dark grey leather jacket with strong padded shoulders, an inverted collar and an asymmetric hemline.
At first I wasn’t crazy about Pen in this look, but the more I see the look the more I love it as it’s such a departure from what I would expect from her.
If you cast your minds back to Cannes Film Festival you will remember that Tilda Swinton wore a similar look in a gorgeous deep maroon colour.
Paper Magazine Dinner Honoring Pedro Almodovar & Penelope Cruz
For this party thrown in her honour Penelope wore a white Chanel Resort 2010 dress with gold embroidered details on the shoulders and pockets.
I much prefer how this look worked on the runway with the cropped embroidered pants.
Pen paired her look with gold Jimmy Choo heels.
Press Conference
Penelope appeared to have kept the same make-up for every look.
For the press conference she wore an Alexander McQueen Houndstooth check pencil dress.
This is my favourite look of the 3 as this ultra-chic houndstooth wool drape-front pencil dress shows off her gorgeous figure.
The Spanish actress paired her dress with a black satin pumps.

The Ackermann looks like rick owens !
She ALWAYS wears the same make up. Always.
She looks best in the Haider Ackermann!
She looks better than I’ve seen in a long time in the Haider Ackerman. It makes her look a lot more youthful than normal.
BDOW!!!!!
I love her in Heider. LOVELOVELOVE.
Shame it’s not the best Almodovar’s film(
the only nice outfit is the she looks good in is the alexander mcqueen. the first outfit makes her look short and the colour reminds me of dirty water. the chanel makes her look wide.
I’m in love with her in the Ackermann dress. It’s a different thing for her but she makes it work very well, I love how it’s constructed in a deconstructed way. One of the best looks I’ve seen her ever.
I agree 100%
The Ackermann dress is very striking… love the contrasts of the fabric as well as the structure….I think Penelope makes the look work. Tilda on the other hand, would have definitely ‘owned’ this dress.
i agree with you 100% actually i think tilda would own every single of those looks.
That Haider Ackermann outfit is the most interesting thing she has worn in ages. I love it. I also love Ackermann.
Penelope just aged herself in the chanel dress which looks like a grandma house coat
Oh no. No no no. I can only think “ruined” when I look at the McQueen ensemble. Why Penny? The make up, the shoes, the length, the glares tucked in, nothing works. Dita, where are you? And why could you not wear the Mcqueen?
My thoughts exactly, thanks.
The shoes help in ruining this magnificent piece too.
The Alexander McQueen looks perfect on her, but the Chanel dress looks like a canteen tabard. It’s shapeless and awful.
Exactly what I was thinking…
I also need to share my love for the McQueen outfit!
Plus, it’s Penelope so she really can’t do wrong in my book.
Tilda’s maroon version looked better… maybe it’s because she’s got the height to pull it off and the colour looks richer.
I don’t mind the Alexander McQueen dress but would’ve looked better with a non-square’ish toe. It looks frumpy from that angle.
I agree with the shoes comment.
*looks around*
I’m gonna be mean but I think she looks bad in all of the outfits.
