Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: September 2009

Victoria Beckham put her best Gucci thigh-high boot forward at Bergdorf Goodman’s celebration of Fashion’s Night Out earlier this month.

The fashion designer wore a reptile print Giles Fall 2009 dress, a black head band and smoky eyes.

Some of you have said that when Sara Paxton wore the same dress to “The Beautiful Life” party, she didn’t know Victoria Beckham had worn the same dress 2 days earlier.

I would say that was impossible. Victoria’s picture was in every paper, website and blog the following day. There is no way Sara and her stylist didn’t know VB wore it.

Sara looks great in the dress, but nothing in the world will make me like those Alejandro Ingelmo woven slingbacks she’s wearing, they don’t seem to work with anything so Victoria wins this for me.

On Saturday I attended Roberto Cavalli’s Spring 2010 collection. The collection had a heavy mix of feminine and masculine pieces.

I found it very interesting that Cavalli known for very overtly sexy looks, opted to pair soft feminine floaty dresses with pant suits. It had a ‘wear all your clothes at once’ type of feel to it.

A maxi print dress would billow down the runway with pinstriped pants and a blazer, or just pants revealing an open back.

Die hard Cavalli fans may have been shocked by this change in direction, but he did show some more feminine sexy gowns and dresses towards the end of the presentation.

These pink and ivory dresses were very cute and girlie with ruffled details going across the body or down one shoulder.

The colour palette wasn’t as bright as I had expected. Greys, creams, pinks, ivory and navy was presented with of course lots of floral prints.

It will be interesting to see if these looks are worn like the runway, or the feminine and masculine pieces are separated.

Here is a picture of the backdrop after the show. I loved it as it looked like the veranda of a beautiful country garden home.

The show moved so fast, that this was the only picture I took from the show that came out well.

Nina Garcia is the one in the white dress in the front row, who was sitting with the rest of her Marie Claire team.

Katie Cassidy was the only one who really impressed me at this event.

Jessica Stroup’s ‘Best Red Carpet Newcomber of 2009′ title is being strongly contested by this girl.

Katie was by far the best dress of the night wearing a watermelon Paule Ka Spring 2009 skirt with tulip bubble details, which she paired with a purple bustier trimmed with lace.

As always the pumps don’t really work for me, but everything else – including her Louis Vuitton Motard satin clutch – is perfection.

Noot Seear opted for an edgier/laidback look wearing a Phi Fall 2009 leather skirt with an asymmetrical exposed zipper and a white tank.

I really dislike the shoes with this look.

Editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue Amy Astley, arrived at this D&G sponsored party wearing a grape D&G Fall 2009 top with voluminous sleeves, paired with navy pants.

Kelly Osbourne’s D&G black satin dress was covered with black and white shamrock appliqués on the sleeves to make the dress more interesting.

“Dancing With the Stars” is paying off. She looks amazing.

Victoria Justice looks so grown up, but not too old in her poppy red BCBG Max Azria sleeveless shift dress.

The dress is covered with hundreds of red paillette’s which matches her ruby lips.

Naturi Naughton didn’t go all out this time.

Instead wearing a simple one-shouldered jersey dress, but add a bit of drama to her look opting for a large jeweled belt.

Chelsea Staub’s canary yellow dress would have stood out on the red carpet.

I love the gold detailed neckline on her BCBG Max Azria dress.

I love Miranda Cosgrove’s floaty ribbon print D&G dress.

It’s nice, but not too cutesy.

It very much suits her style and personality.

I feel a bit disappointed by AnnaLynne McCord’s look.

I expected her to be in the same league as Katie, but I’m really unimpressed by this look.

Jessica Lowndes wore a cute strapless dress with a sequined bodice plus a black and white skirt.

I feel like I see this look on Jessica quite a bit.  I love her to try something new.

Lily Collins opted for a black D&G strapless dress.

Selena Gomez wore a silky black and grey ensemble.

Ashley Tisdale wore a Kate Moss for Topshop Trophy studded dress, which draped low enough to expose her bra through the sheer part of the dress.

Her dress was paired with Christian Louboutin snake skin heels.

Jesscia Stroup opted for a black BCBG Max Azria jumpsuit paired with a green clutch and black open-toe booties.

Emma Watson was your Best Dressed this week as you fell in love with her custom-made Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010 dress, which she wore when she took her front row seat at Burberry’s Prorsum Spring 2010 show during London Fashion Week.

I’m still in love with January Jones who wore an Atelier Versace Spring 2010 strapless gown to the Emmy Awards last Sunday. The gown was both futuristic and elegant.

The whole Atelier Versace collection is now available to view on Versace’s new and improved website – Versace.com.

Giving Thanks

It’s Sunday so I’m giving thanks to YSL for sending me their tote and the YSL manifesto, which was fantastic because I always get to the stations they hand them out too late.

Also giving thanks to Grazia UK and Company Magazine for featuring me in their magazines.

They are proudly displayed on my press page.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
