Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: September 2009

Last night Jennifer Garner was in LA for the premiere of her new movie “The Invention Of Lying”.

Whilst many stars are already wearing fall pieces – to the annoyance of many of you – Jennifer delights wearing a black strapless Gucci Resort 2010 mini dress.

I like this cute dress and the blue embroidered paillettes which are more visible in the close up, but I’m missing the belt on Jennifer.

I’m also not so crazy about her choice of shoes.

It feels like she left the office to go to a party but forgot to pack her party shoes, so just opted for the shoes she’d worn at the office.

Sassy heels would’ve had me loving this look. Other than that she looks beautiful.

As you may know this years London Fashion Week mark’s the 25 anniversary, and to commemorate this anniversary many London based designers returned to the capital.

Antonio Berardi who usually presents his collections during Paris Fashion Week, credits Peroni Nastro Azzuro for his return to the London.

The location for Berardi’s Spring 2010 was held at St. Marks Church in Mayfair. Patrons came from near and far to worship in the house of Berardi.

It was quite ironic that the location was in a church considering the pieces were so sinful.

The sexy leather, bustier dresses and sheer dresses should have had us all rushing to the confessional booths for drooling over the pieces and wanted them so badly.

Berardi also present dresses and cropped jacket with samurai shoulders, which was a new take on the bold shoulder.

Boyfriend blazers, laces sewn into dresses, brocade dresses, double peplum skirts, Kimono sleeved jackets and tops paired with skirts and pants toned down the more sexier pieces.

So many great pieces, but one that really stands out apart from the sheer mini dress was the grey embellished dress with a black wrap-around cape.

Swarovski crystals embellished many pieces which were blinding spectacular as they glided down the runway.

The models looked fabulous with their braided hair, porcelain skin and bright pink lips making them look like pretty dolls.

The colour palette was mostly black, white, and grey with pops of orange and cobalt blue.

This collection of mini dresses will no doubt delight his leggy celebrity followers Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow and new fan Megan Fox.

Two great things happened at the show.

Firstly after a tiring day walking around London I was offered a ride home in a Peroni branded classic Fiat 500, and if that wasn’t enough I met the gorgeous David Gandy -Dolce & Gabbana uber model.

I DIE. Like Really.

When I showed my friend this picture she asked could I have held David any tighter. I could’ve but I may have cut his circulation. *winks*

Thanks to OOooOO I Want One Of Those for taking the picture of me and David.

This picture of Victoria Beckham and Naomi Campbell really warmed my heart.

Two of our greatest British exports are in London to celebrate all that is good and great about fashion at Vogue’s private dinner party in London last night.

Victoria was – of course – wearing a dress from her new Spring 2010 collection.

I’m glad to see she opted for one of the cute sassy fun pieces, rather then the pencil dresses, and of course I’m thrilled that it’s a colourful piece.

The designer wore her dress with grey YSL Trib Two’s.

Naomi wore a modified, more wearable version of the Alexander McQueen Resort 2010 dress which Drew Barrymore wore recently.

The Stella McCartney Resort 2010 collection will never become boring to me no matter how many pieces we see on celebs.

Natalia Vodianova stood alongside the creator of her ensemble wearing a gold embroidered jacket with a black embroidered dress which Stella McCartney wore to the Prada Congo Benefit earlier this year.

Stella opted for a sleek and sexy black coat dress paired with black heels.

I love what she’s done to her hair here, normally she has it pulled back.

Maybe this is her last chance to let her hair down before her much anticipated Spring 2010 show next month.

Agyness Deyn was also in attendance wearing a House of Holland Spring 2010 half black, half beige sleeveless leather tuxedo dress.

I know Agyness is one of fashion’s greatest chameleon, but I much prefer her as a blonde.

The supermodel wore her dress with heels from the same show.

Katie Grand posed alongside Victoria Beckham wearing a pretty pink Giles Spring 2008 strapless dress.

The dress with its voluminous skirt was decorated with laser cut floral details.

I love this dress.

Of course the Brit Pack were there.

Pixie Geldof has finally taken out those god awful extension.

Daisy Lowe wore a black two-tone dress, which is the theme of the night.

But Alexa Chung looked so so cute in her Luella Spring 2010 floral print dress with a heart-shape cut-out on the bodice.

Miley…THIS is the type of cute dress you should be wearing, but in saying that I would prefer it on Selena Gomez.

So proud to write about British fashion, everyone looked fabulous at this event. They could all be up for Best Dressed Of The Week minus Pixie and Daisy.

Graeme Black’s Spring 2010 presented an Indian fantasy collection inspired by a Maharajah’s turban.

As a result we saw a vibrant mix of colours and textures.

The colour palette consisted of ruby red, bright turquoise, tangy oranges and luscious lime greens.

Stand out pieces included a green cut-out jacket paired with white jodhpurs, an asymmetrical dress with an embellished bodice, and the finale organza gown which had striped silks wrapped around the bodice, plus it was paired with a maroon knitted bolero.

The stunning jewels courtesy of Moussaieff had us all cooing with delight. They were well protected by about 20 bodyguards backstage.

I went backstage to get a close up of the collection and those lust worthy Brian Atwood heels.

You may recognise the studded heels to the right, as they’ve been worn by Sarah Jessica Parker on the Sex And The City 2 set recently.

These Loca pumps are from Brian Atwood’s resort collection. Form an orderly queue ladies.

If you’re thinking that you’ve heard me talking about Graeme Black before, that’s because Victoria Beckham is a huge fan of his work.

The show was held at an art gallery with a beautiful backdrop of large drawings of the 16th century Mughal capital Fatehpur Sikri.

Alexander Wang’s rock chic designs have been very popular this year.

Rihanna is a huge fan.

She was in high spirits as she was papped out and about in New York back in July. Her Alexander Wang slim grommet dress was paired with biker boots.

The jersey dress features metal grommets on the shoulder pads to give the LBD an edge.

Khole Kardashian arrived at the BET studio’s in New York to talk about her “Khloe and Kourtney Take Miami” wearing the same dress with YSL ankle boots.

Keisha Buchanan – who quit UK girl group the Sugababes this morning – wore the same dress with black open toe-ankle strap heels.

I pick Rihanna, this dress is much more her style.

You can purchase this dress from Shopbop, Browns Fashion and Saks.com for £545/€635.35/$550.

Fashion Fringe & Christopher Kane

Regular readers will know that I’m constantly fascinated with how Donatella Versace takes one piece from the runway and creates a totally different look unique to her.

On her visit to London she created a black sleek pencil dress from a one-shoulder top she had presented on the Fall 2009 runway.

Should would’ve look fantastic in either look which is so great about her.

Her heels are from the Versus collection.

Matthew Williamson

Olivia Palmero a self confessed Topshop addict, wore a Matthew Williamson Zig-Zag dress with navy ankle booties.

She’s not quite sporting the ‘Palmero’, but a neat ponytail.

Marios Schwab

Anna Wintour hasn’t been to London Fashion Week in a very long while and her presence is a BIG deal.

She attended the shows of  London hippest designers Marios Schwab and Christopher Kane wearing a reptile – no doubt Prada – coat and a smile sans sunglasses, which is strange because it’s actually sunny in London.

Leigh Lezark wore a crystal print Marios Schwab mini dress which I think looks better with the runway sash tied to the waist.

Ashish

Michelle Williams was very much the ‘Sophia Bush’ of London Fashion Week, as she was everywhere.

She also pulled an ‘Anna Wintour’ by not wearing anything from the designers who’s shows she attended.

At the Ashish show she wore a cute coral tiered Jenny Packham dress and sunshine yellow peep-toes.

I love that jeweled detail on the neckline.

Bora Aksu

Michelle must have like the Ashish show so much that she then wore one of his pieces to the Bora Aksu show.

The black sequin tunic dress was covered names of places I’m sure she’s traveled to with Destiny’s Child.

I love the quirky shoes she paired with this dress.

Topshop Unique

Kate Moss looks more like she’s on vacation rather than sitting front row, but Kate being Kate can wear a trash bag and still work it in the front row.

PPQ

Sporting shearling jacket when it’s quite warm in London, Alexa Chung give us that ‘so hip it hurts’ look as she waited for the PPQ show.

She wore a LBD with a lace panel, booties and a Miu Miu cross body bag.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label

Joss Stone opts for a classic Westwood tartan ensemble with some questionable open-toe Westwood booties.

Michelle Williams arrived wearing a LBD with an asymmetrical hemline plus a bright fuschia dupioni blazer.

Sexy Christian Louboutin Calypso heels.

Nicola Roberts opted for a red shimmering dress with ankle strapped heels.

Nicola arrived with Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding who made a huge statement with her PVC mini dress and Giuseppe Zanotti sculpted platform ankle boots with a bright red platform.

Luella

Every time I saw Peaches Geldof in New York she looked like a moody sulking teenager, even at the Marchesa show.

So I’m glad for two things: she smiling and she looks adorable wearing a Luella Spring 2009 lilac one-shouldered dress.

It’s not often I really like what she wears, but this a great look for her…sans tights.
