Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: September 2009

It’s not often that I feature Oprah Winfrey on my blog, but she has finally worn a look from the runway.

Oprah Winfrey looked beautiful wearing a Tadashi Shoji Fall 2009 dress on her “Live New York” show last week, which was filmed from the Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.

The interesting feature of this fuschia pink wide open-neck dress is the twisted and folded neckline.

You can’t just about see the red heels Oprah wore with dress.

I love the bold colour, it really works for her.

All I say about Mariah Carey’s look is “I like your Gucci lace up boots.”

Kelly Ripa was a guest on the show and she look beautiful wearing a racing green RM by Roland Mouret Scirocco crepe pencil dress with an asymmetric neckline and cap sleeves.

Kelly very much likes this silhouette, which is why she can often be seen wearing Victoria Beckham’s pencil dresses.

She didn’t accessorize her dress, because the sleek tailoring speaks for itself.

Brown Freshman Emma Watson traveled from Rhode Island to London for the Burberry Spring 2010 presentation during London Fashion Week.

Burberry’s Fall 2009 campaign girl traded her air miles for a custom-made Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010 golden dress.

Emma’s gold foil short sleeve front zip dress was paired with a black braided belt and black Burberry platforms.

Her hair was styled in a loose updo to complete her front row superstar look.

Despite only appearing in one movie Freida Pinto sealed her superstar status by not only being front row at the Burberry Spring 2010 presentation last night, but she also wore a dress from the presentation before it had hit the runway.

I adore this soft yellow twisted dress on her, as she is truly glowing.

She opted for a purple studded Burberry clutch and Rupert Sanderson Aspasia fuchsia leopard patent heels to complete her look.

Very interesting coloured accessories for her yellow dress.

Gwyneth Paltrow also opted for a twisted piece from the Spring 2010 collection.

Unfortunately her skirt/t-shirt/chunky boots combo doesn’t quite work for me.

Alexa Chung wore a classic Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2009 trench coat over her LBD.

Ankle boots as standard.

With her trademark Chanel sunglasses in check, Anna Wintour arrived at the presentation wearing a gold and bronzed Oscar de la Renta Fall 2009 dress, with bronze strappy kitten heel sandals.

How very chic Ms. Wintour.

Proving that she truly is the best ambassador for her brand, Victoria Beckham arrived in a black dress from her own Spring 2010 collection.

I’m grateful for this new silhouette, but I must ask how many Trib Two’s does Victoria own?

Lee Na Young wore the same Burberry Prorsum Fall 2009 gold floral dress/black coat combo Melissa George wore recently, which is leading me to believe that maybe if you buy the dress, you get the coat free.

Mary-Kate Olsen I believe traveled to London especially for this presentation.

The actress wore a black tulle dress under a black coat with black beetle bug brooch decorating her coat.

She accessorized with black suede Burberry wedge heels, dark sunglasses and an orange beaded bag.

Carine Roitfeld opted for an all black look which included a peaked shouldered blazer and a YSL vintage dress by Tom Ford.

As did Liv Tyler, who toughen up her look with Burberry Prorsum cut-out leather sandals.

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010 presentation closed London Fashion Week last night as millions of people around the world watched the live stream.

The presentation was titled “Twisted Classics” which was apt considering nearly all of the pieces featured a twisted or ruched element.

Twisted trench coats, twisted shoulders, twisted dresses, braided bodice dresses, twisted skirts, twisted shirts and even the shoes had a twisted detail.

Apart from the twisted element, every single piece in this collection was paired with a belt.

The house is known for it’s trench coats and they were shorter, sassier, sexier and more colourful than ever before.

They were fitted, twisted, ruched and the shoulders were bolder. A few were also made from duchess silk satin which were just so beautiful.

The colour palette included fruity pastel pinks, blues, lavender and peppermint, plus nude and soft grey.

I had a lot of favourites, but Chanel Iman’s blue dress was so gorgeous against her skin.

The accessories in this collection were equally lust worthy. I remember a time when the Burberry check was considered chavy, but Christopher Bailey has made it cool again.

I loved this collection. It’s a very casual collection which can be dressed up or dressed down if desired. I expect to see many hot young things wearing this collection on the red carpet.

The forever young Demi Moore gave us a throw back to the 80s with her big voluminous hair which revealed her pearl earrings at the UK premiere of ‘Flawless’ last year.

She walked the red carpet wearing a black Chanel dress with a peplum at the waist, and white lace sleeves fringed with beads.

Her sophisticated look was paired with black peep-toes and a matching clutch.

MisShapes’ Leigh Lezark attended the 6th Annual New Yorkers For Children Spring Dinner Dance in New York back in April wearing the same dress.

She decided to team her look with caged ankle boots, and a studded clutch.

This is hard because they both look great, but I think the style of dress is more suited to Demi so she wins for me.

If Xena Princess Warrior wanted to update her look, I have a feeling she would want to wear something from the Todd Lynn Spring 2010 collection.

The collection had a primitive, yet futuristic feel about it. I loved the contrast of the soft fabrics and the tough leather pieces and accessories.

This was Lynn’s first collection were he didn’t rely to heavily on structure, but his razor sharp tailoring was still evident especially in the blazers.

Antonio Berardi gave us the samurai shoulder, but Lynn gave us the armored shoulder with metal shoulders that would make the wearing look like they were going into battle.

Lynn loves to decorate his pieces with horsehair weft. In his Spring 2009 and Fall 2008 collections he used weft on shoes. This time the were used on shoulders, elbows and on hips.

Speaking of the shoes they were Christian Louboutin gladiator sandals with an elasticated wrap detail. Mr Louboutin was also at the show, paying particular attention to the sandals.

If you’re thinking fur for Spring?!?!?!

You haven’t experience the Great British Summer were it’s quite possible to have 4 seasons in one day.
