Christian Siriano Spring 2010

Christian Siriano’s Spring 2010 collection is the only presentation I have seen this season were the designer got a standing ovation. He also received the loudest cheer.

The collection started off with nudes paired with pink pieces which was delicate and ultra feminine. The soft pink doesn’t really show in the pictures though.

Then the collection moved onto marine blues, starting with aqua then moving onto more dramatic blues for a real under the sea feel. Bold red and orange pieces followed.

The collection featured cute mini dresses which were strapless and asymmetrical. Shorts were paired with silk blouses, large brim hats we’ve seen in previous collections, and dramatic gowns. Hopefully Emmy bound.

Sessilee Lopez worked her flamenco style gown, whilst another model literally carried her nude and red tulle gown which had a magnificent train.

Both drew gasps, but not as much as the silk chiffon-layered goddess gown. It really was the wow moment of the show.

I was very impressed with this presentation.

Alexis Bleldel’s dress was a Christian Siriano Spring 2010 preview, but her look differs from the runway.

The runway version had one sleeve and a tulip shaped skirt.

It’s an okay show. I like how the colors flow.
I expected something greater from him but I am disappointed.
Some of the dresses do look similar for past seasons…

    still an okay show.

you think that designers don’t have signatures that they recreate for every collection just in a new way

    i love it

Christian is Fierce, as he loved to say on Project Runway. He is extremely talented, and we know if he wants to he can sew everyone one of his creations by hand. I see wearable, beautiful creations from some one so new in the industry.

I think allyss and vance applied for Project Runway but never qualified. So much hate.
Nothing about the collection looks cheap. I love the pieces.
Only problem was that some of the models struggled walking in the shoes.
I ADORE THE NUDE GOWN. I would definitely wear it as wedding dress.

Did you read my last sentence? I don’t think so, so here is it again: “But that’s just my opinion.”
If you like this collection, okay, I’m fine with it. But you can’t force everyone to love it.

Your PR-comment was ridiculously childish- I don’t even care about Christian Siriano as a person. I critized his collection not the show he got famous for.

that’s a very nice collection! I’m sure we’ll see some of this collection looks on the red carpets!!

  14. alyss September 13, 2009 at 15:48 #

This has to be the worst show this season so far. The dresses looked like cheap McQueen/ Balenciaga/ Givenchy- knock offs.
    But that’s just my opinion.

    • Vance September 13, 2009 at 16:42 #

I agree, it looks like a knock off (I’d add Nina Ricci to that list, too).

    • amelie September 13, 2009 at 17:16 #

Completely agree- what a cheap and tacky looking mess.
