Fashion’s Night Out

Bergdorf Goodman

The biggest stars took to the stores here in New York for the biggest Fashion night out the world has ever seen.

My chin hit the floor when I saw Victoria Beckham – not all for good reasons.

Firstly she was not wearing a black pencil dress – SHOCKER.

Secondly she wasn’t wearing black period – minus her thigh high Gucci Fall 2009 boots.

Thirdly the dress wasn’t from her collection and lastly WOW.

Where did this woman come from? This isn’t slightly tedious VB we have been looking at for the last six months.

This is someone who wanted to shake off the boring tag and shock us all.

And she did.

Unfortunately I really didn’t like make-up, and I didn’t understand why she wore such an edgy look with a headband.

On the positive side I did like her modified Giles Fall 2009 reptile print strapless dress.

I don’t like to talk about weight on my blog, it’s number no no. But I’m sure many of you will debate her weight because she is looking a tad gaunt.

Oscar de la Renta Boutique

Sarah Jessica Parker wore her ‘Fashion’s Night Out’ tee with pride pairing it with a taffeta Oscar de la Renta asymmetrical skirt, and a black belt encrusted with diamante’s on the buckle.

I love the way she styled the tee.

Anna Wintour who organised this FNO event, showed her support for the cause by wearing the campaign t-shirt like SJP.

She paired the tee with a colour co-ordinating Prada Spring 2009 pencil skirt.

Ralph Lauren Women’s Boutique

Blake Lively turned down the sex kitten for a country chic head-to-toe Ralph Lauren look, wearing a grey embellished blouse with tweed vest and tan crocodile boots.

Camilla Belle – also in head-to-toe Ralph Lauren – went for a sexy chic look wearing a luxurious Pre-Fall 2009 grey wool one-shoulder dress with a pink crocodile belt, brown sandals.

I’m not so sure I like the longer hair, but her dress is spectacular on her.

Bloomingdale’s 59th Street Store

Lindsay Lohan wore an Emanuel Ungaro Spring 2009 Caribbean blue shirt as shirtdress paired with leggings, sky high heeled ankle boots and a trilby hat.

Macy’s Herald Square

Debra Messing looked fabulous wearing a one-sleeved charcoal Michael Kors Fall 2009 herringbone origami dress.

I love the thinner belt she wore with the dress, and the sculptured shoulder.

Vogue Pop Up Boutique at Macy’s Queens

Across town Kate Hudson was also wearing a dress from the Michael Kors Fall 2009 collection.

Her espresso check strapless dress also had origami details on the bodice.

Giuseppe Zanotti Boutique

Channeling her inner Grace Jones, Rihanna looked fierce sporting a hooded Alexander Wang cowl-neck mini dress with a pair of studded sunglasses at night, and Giuseppe Zanotti boots.

Dior Boutique

Charlize Theron was of course on hand to provide the star power to the Dior Boutique.

The actress looked outstanding from her perfectly coiffed hair to her Dior heels.

I just love her silvery blue Dior strapless dress. Hollywood glamour at its very finest.

Victoria’s Secret Lexington Store

Miranda Kerr looked uber cute wearing a colour blocking Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2009 dress we have previously seen on Kate Walsh.

Blake still managed to find a way to wear a plunging neckline

I love the way SJP is wearing that t-shirt! And I’m not usually a big fan of Stella McCartney but that dress is great.

hey everyone! I was actually at FNO and saw VB in person! She was so cute and smiling all the way! She was an arm’s length away from me and all I could think of was: she’s not in black! her hair looks great! the makeup is so awful! and when did she get so thin?! I’m pretty sure she lost some weight recently and the excessive self tanner makes her look even thinner. nonetheless she was gracious, even though the crowd went crazy when throughout the whole time she was here. I practically ran into the path of Anna Wintour by chance and stood there mouth agape saying “oh my god it’s Anna!” then yelled for my friend to take a photo. – and Anna just smiled at me…=) not as frosty as I thought!

Why does Blake always do that pose? I hate it. It doesn’t matter what she wears as long as she has that weird tilt to her head I will hate it.

  5. Jess September 11, 2009 at 23:36 #

Victoria looks shockingly bad. How did she manage to leave the house looking like this?
she looks like some bony, fried insect

  6. JMC September 11, 2009 at 22:50 #

Thank you so much for the ID help! I really appreciate it and will credit you on the blog.

Did you happen to attend this event and see Victoria?

  7. Kim September 11, 2009 at 19:43 #

Charlize, Debra, Kate, and Rihanna = PERFECTION!

  8. Alexis September 11, 2009 at 19:05 #

oh c’mon, charlize can’t be human

    • Fashion Critic September 11, 2009 at 19:05 #

I know, it;s just not fair

  9. ramona September 11, 2009 at 19:03 #

For Sarah Jessica Parker 10 as usually. Camilla Belle looks angelic I also like: Kate Hudson, Miranda Kerr. Charlize Theron is always glamorous. I hope that Victoria and Lindsay will change this horrible style.I don t like the way they dress!!And for Rihanna I agree with Greta..i don”t like her new style..kisses~

  10. greta September 11, 2009 at 17:53 #

Rihanna is a joke. Can I say LADY GAGA ?

  11. Ling September 11, 2009 at 16:53 #

I wish we could see more of Camilla Belle on the red carpet, she always looks gorgeous, I love the combination of grey and pink! I only hope those are temporary hair extensions, I’m sure her hair hasn’t grown that fast?

As for Charlize … also LOVE LOVE her she looks STUNNING!! Sorry for the capitals but she looks so beautiful – Blake Lively should take tips from her on how to do different poses …

I sort of liked Vicky’s choses of styling. It might not make her look AT HER BEST, but I really do appreciate the risk.

SJP and anna’s styling with the FNO tee are both effortless, which I really loved.

All the other celebs looked amazing, I’m impressed.

Hey FC, did you post about your thoughts of Lindsay for Ungaro? I would really wanna read about opinionated views about that. I will soon post about that in my own blog 🙂

  13. Leti September 11, 2009 at 16:51 #

I was definitely waiting for this post as soon as I saw the pics of VB last night. Obviously the makeup is atrocious. There are things I liked about the dress–I think I would have liked it much more if not for the vertical stripes–it’s too much w/the print. There’s also something off about the boots. I think they look cheap b/c they’re not fitted enough. Still, I think it an improvement overall b/c she was trying to mix things up, and if she keeps trying, maybe she’ll get it right.

  14. Chiara September 11, 2009 at 16:45 #

I like the looks but I wished more star had repped the t-shirt,like SJP did. My fav look.
Rihanna looks fierce but the lips works only with the glasses, without it’s way too bold. I feel the rest kinda overdressed, Charlize, Kate Hudson, Debra Messing , Blake Lively … It’s fashion night’s out, why so serious :S ?

  15. Tortov September 11, 2009 at 16:27 #

Victoria outshines all the other ladies. She looks absolutely fantastic IMO. Oh, and she was definitely the biggest star of the evening.

  16. LeeAnn September 11, 2009 at 16:24 #

Why does VB make clothes look just plain wrong ? She has no style no class and it shows again and again and again-she is an opiate for the masses not a style icon.

  17. Lina September 11, 2009 at 16:23 #

Camila Belle looks so splendid! And Penelope Cruz at the premier for Broken Promises.. lovely

  18. Harris September 11, 2009 at 16:12 #

Camilla Belle is so gorgeous but she is looking TIIINY.

    Kate Hudson’s hair is FAB.

I’m really really trying to root for VB.

  19. Ally September 11, 2009 at 16:08 #

I wish I could have gone to this. I wish it sooo bad.

Yes’s to SJP, Anna, Blake, Kate and Miranda.
Charlize’s hair and Rihanna’s make-up are turning me off!

  20. Weber September 11, 2009 at 15:53 #

I fall in love for Camila Belle and Kate Hudon *-*
    They looks absolutely OUSTANDING *——-*
Victoria Beckham’s make up completely HORRIBLE, I’m so tired of her –‘
    RiRi looks fierce as always
I adore her haircut… It looks like Keri Hilson ‘do

  21. Ferosh September 11, 2009 at 15:48 #

Ooooh i was waiting for this post….. right frorstly Victoria Beckham looks extremely gaunt and orange, the dress looks lovely on her but i would have preferred a peep toe or a half boot if she wanted that edge, everyone looks great, i would love to see rihanna do some sofet looks as shes taking this edgy appearance too far…its overtly contrived. Also just to wrap it up Lindsay Lohan doesnt look good and along with VB she looks painfully thin.
P.S. FC will u be posting the london fashion night out event??

  22. Lei September 11, 2009 at 15:46 #

The FNO looks fabulous… Wish I could have been there!

Everyone looks fantastic.. They really do pull out the big guns for NY Fashion Week don’t they

  23. Lala/S-R September 11, 2009 at 15:28 #

Shocked, yes. But disappointed nonetheless. I think she looks terrible, FC. Those boots don’t seem the slight bit necessary to me.
Blake looks so simple and chic.
Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay, get yourself together! She looks worse and worse everyday. Come on Lindsay!! I keep rooting for you!!
    Kate looks amazing!
Took it right from my mouth, Rihanna is channeling that Jamaican hottty, Grace Jones, and I like that. But she looks so trampy and uncomfortable. The make-up is all over the place and she really doesn’t need that much make-up.
    I love Charlize…awed.
Miranda looks the same…BORING! She never looks any diff these days.

P.S Was Amber Rose there? I’m dying to see what she wore!

  24. Flora September 11, 2009 at 15:28 #

oh God. I wanted to like this, I really did. It’s a colour! It’s edgy! It’s not black! But I’m afraid I just think it’s horrible, the coral colour clashes with her far-too-orange skin, she’s put her make-up on with a trowel, and the whole look makes her resemble a drag queen, especially in those boots. Lady Gaga or Rihanna could have pulled off this look. Damn you Victoria! (shakes fist in general direction) Foiled again!

  25. Joana September 11, 2009 at 15:23 #

I was waiting for this post!!!
    I LOVE Sarah’s, Anna’s and Chalize’s looks!!
Sarah and Anna for making that t’shir work perfectly and Charlize because she’s just perfect as always!!

    Victoria Beckham: surprising? yes!!
the thigh high boots?! OH YES!!
not wearing a dress from her collection?! Great!
hair and make up?! OH NO!!!
Overall look! 4 out of 10! which is good considering that latelly all she get from me is -5 out of 10!!
