Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: July 2009

In New York last night Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez – the Proenza Schouler designers – threw a fabulous party to celebrate the lauch of the 9th edition of ‘A Magazine’, which they created.

Fashion darling Chloe Sevigny was the guest of honour as she graces the cover.

The actress was wearing a leather jumpsuit from the Proenza Schouler Spring 2009 collection, without the sleeveless white shirt it was presented with on the runway.

I want to start off my saying I don’t like Chloe’s hair. Nearly every look of hers is let down by her hair. I’m dying for her to cut some kind of style into it.

I’m really surprised that Chloe opted out of the white shirt, as the look is more quirky with the shirt and looking quirky is very much her thing.

Overall I think I respect her for wearing a leather jumpsuit in summer and marginally pulling it off, more than liking the look itself.

Before the Christian Louboutin Differa sandals became so popular, the Mad Mary Janes were the it shoes. Mischa Barton wore hers EVERYWHERE.

Many stars from Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox, Vanessa Hudgens and Kate Mara wore the studded heels on the red carpet.

The shoe was popular because it’s dual nature of being sugary sweet, with a hard edged via silver studding on the heel and strap.

This Fall Christian Louboutin have created a Very Prive studded peep-toe pump, which could be as popular as the Mad Mary Janes.

These heels – which just shot to No.1 on my wish list – are currently available on pre-order from Saks.com $995.

My guess is Rihanna will be spotted wearing these heels first.

What say you?

Scarlett Johansson was officially announced as the new face of Mango during a press conference in Madrid yesterday.

She takes over from Penelope Cruz and her sister Monica, who I thought were irreplaceable as the face of the brand.

At the big reveal Scarlett wore a blue satin top and a black high-waisted skirt with a black sash which is available to buy from Mangoshop.com.

The actress is also the face of Dolce & Gabbana’s make-up line.

In those ads she has a 50s glam look, but these ads – shot by Mario Sorrenti – have more of a 80s punk feel.

For once I don’t smell any desperation with Cassie’s look, and I’m just grateful she’s wearing a bra under her sheer top.

The wannabee style maven wore a black and green Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 tulip skirt with gold Christian Louboutin open toe booties.

The only thing I’m not liking are the bubblegum pink nails as they’re distracting.

When this Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 dress was presented it was labeled the ‘bin-liner’ dress, and I was sure no one would be brave enough to wear it on the red carpet.

I’ve been proved wrong for the second time, as Estelle looked pretty damn fierce in her dress.

The only thing needed with this dress were a pair of statement heels so her stand-out fuchsia pink Alexander McQueen heart peep-toe heels were a perfect choice.

Whitney Port is very much starting to dress like a sophisticated New Yorker. Gone is the boho style she loved for so long.

“The City” star was back in town after a break from filming and she looks quite breath-taking wearing a LBD from the Rachel Comey Spring 2009 collection.

The dress has cut-out sides and peplum on the hips.

It looks like she has been hanging out with Olivia Palmero too much, as her hair has been styled in Olivia favourite look.

A stunning pearl Erickson Beamon necklace and Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toes completed this fabulous look.

“Gossip Girl” actress Jessica Szohr wore a cute and girlie lace mini dress from the Gossip Girl inspired Anna Sui for Target collection, but she toughened up her look with a military Temperley London jacket and chunky jewelery.

Like everyone else who wore at least one thing from LV, Jessica opted for the Fall 2009 platform heels.

There’s lot going on with the mix of patterns but I quite like this look.

Miranda Kerr embraced summer wearing a sleeveless satin dress with oversized ruffles.

She teamed her dress with black ankle-strap peep-toe heels and a gold Louis Vuitton African Queen clutch.

Cheryl Cole looked a bit shocked at the hoards of paparazzi who greeted her at LAX last night, so it’s a good job she was dressed to impress.

Its thought that she’s in LA to work on her solo album with Black Eyed Peas star Will.I.Am., plus she’s also being lined up as a judge on the US version of X Factor, although I’m not sure the US would get her Geordie accent.

The Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge looked gorgeous wearing a mini Marc by Marc Jacobs Celcelia knit tank dress whilst carrying a Louis Vuitton Monogram Epices Kalahari bag.

I would chew off my right arm to own this bag. It’s so exotic and luxurious and was one of the must-haves from that Spring presentation.

The tribal hobo bag is dressed with an attractive band of colourful beads and a gold strap strap.

This bag retails at £2,575/$4,840.

Cheryl’s look was complete with a pair of grey linen polka dot Charlotte Olympia Greta platform pumps.

You can buy these quirky heels from Net-A-Porter’s International site on sale for £290.50 /€356.50.
