Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: July 2009

It had quieten down for a while, but it looks like Balamainia is far from over.

Diane Kruger walked the red carpet tonight wearing a strapless sweetheart neckline Balmain Fall 2009 trademark mini dress with a cute ruffled skirt, for the “Inglourious Basterds” premiere in London’s Leicester Square.

It’s been a miserable day in London today with on and off rain, but that didn’t stop the German actress from wearing this short sassy black suede number.

I love the thinner bejeweled belt, the way the dress sits higher on her than the model, and her sexy slick backed hair.

She really got into the spirit of the sexy rock chic glamour which each Christophe Decarnin piece oozes.

Regular readers will also recognise the Christian Louboutin Very Prive studded peep-toe pumps Diane’s wearing, as I featured them on my blog a week ago.

I wondered who would be the first to wear what could be the new celebrity “IT” shoe.

Your guesses ranged from Rihanna, Megan Fox, Kim Kardashian and Beyonce, but Diane trumped them all.

Before you ask she’s definitely up for Best Dressed this week, and Brad and Angelina don’t appear to be at this premiere.

You may remember a few months ago I did a post on Spring 2009 vs Zara’s Spring 2009 collection.

Looking at Primarks Fall 2009 collection, I couldn’t help noticing how similar many pieces are to looks on we saw on the Fall 2009 runways.

The most striking was Primark’s blue striped sequin dress (£22).

This dress bares an uncanny resemblances to the one-shouldered Balmain dress which Luisa via Roma sell for €10,773.

This wide shoulder floral tea dress (£15) is gorgeous.

The shoulders resemble both Balmain and Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2009 dresses we saw presented on the runway without the steep price tags.

I really love this dress.   In fact I prefer it to the runway looks.  I’d camp out early for this dress.

This fur coat styled with a thick black waist belt took me back to the Michael Kors Fall 2009 collection full of luxurious pieces.

The Primark coat cost £30.  The Kors coat? A whole lot more.

The sad thing is I bet these beautiful Primark pieces will fly off the shelves before we even get a chance to try them on.

Below is the rest of the Primark Fall 2009 look book which seems to be inspired by Gucci, Lanvin and Balenciaga.

What do you think?  Inspired pieces or cheap imitations?

Most stars wear stunning heels on the red carpet, but off it they reach for their gladiator flats. Not Beyonce.

We’ve all noticed that she has been wearing some on-trend designs by Balmain, but she’s also been sporting some lust worthy heels everywhere she goes.

Beyonce’s shoe collection includes Gucci platform heels, Toni Maticevski Fall 2009 embellished platform heels, Christian Dior Resort 2009 Cha Cha sandals, Giuseppe Zanotti wedges and lets not forget her YSL cage booties and Louis Vuitton Spicy heels.

In a recent interview Beyonce revealed her shoe fetish. “I love those super-high shoes that are out at the moment. I’m addicted.”

“I have been doing loads of photoshoots and they have all this stuff straight off the runway and this past few weeks there have been loads. I love a high heel.”

Don’t we all. We just wish we were given many free pairs like you B.

Paris Hilton has been in Dubai shooting “My New Best Friend Forever”, so we haven’t seen her on the red carpet in a while.

You’ll be happy to see that at the screening of her documentary “Paris, Not France”, she wasn’t sporting any headbands.  That’s because she was channeling a old Hollywood look and a headband would have messed up her marcel waves.

Paris sparkled from head-to-toe wearing a fringed flapper-style Roberto Cavalli Resort 2009 dress, with her favourite Le Silla shoes.

The sparkle with Paris wearing some stunning jewels including a diamond bracelet and diamond earrings.

She left her favourite Christian Louboutin Maykimay clutch at home and carried an equally dazzling silver box clutch.

I know it will take hell freezing over for many of you to say that Paris looks good, but I think she looks sophisticated, tasteful and classy.

What say you?

Nicky Hilton was there so support her sister.

She opted for a black Alexander Wang one-shoulder dress so she wouldn’t outshine her sister – if that’s even possible.

Her look was complete with the most stunning pair of emerald drop earrings I have ever seen. They are very similar to the Lorraine Schwartz earrings Angelina Jolie’s wore to the Oscars this year.

She completes the look with Christian Louboutin lace pumps.

It’s quite a simple look, but I really love it.

It’s not unusual for Victoria Beckham to be first when it comes to fashion. She was the first to wear these Stella McCartney ankle zip skinny ombre jeans whilst making her way through Heathrow airport earlier this year.

She wore them with her leather Balmain jacket, Loewe hat, Christian Louboutin’s and white Kelly Travel bag.

Model/actress Lily Cole wore the same jeans with a loose fitting dusky pink top and multi-coloured strappy heels to “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” Photo Call during Cannes Film Festival.

Kate Walsh wore hers with a sparkling Stella McCartney tank top during a photo call at the Monte Carlo TV Festival.

And finally the designer of these beautiful jeans – Stella McCartney – wore hers with a cropped jacket from her Resort 2010 collection to the presentation of her new collection at “The Corner” in Berlin.

This is a tough one, because everyone looks great minus Lily because I really dislike her shoes.

Stella wins this for me, as her look is the most effortless and most chic.

These jeans are available to purchase from Net-A-Porter international for £157.50/€206.50.

How uncanny.  I was just saying earlier today that the Loewe Spring 2009 collection doesn’t get enough love from celebrities, and now two UK fashionistas are flying to Spanish flag.

First Victoria Beckham and now Sienna Miller.

Unfortunately for Sienna her clothing were soaked on the boat trip to the HMS Belfast, where she joined her castmates for the London photocall of her new movie “G.I JOE: The Rise Of Cobra”.

Being the good humoured girl that she is, Sienna showed off her soaked grey Loewe Spring 2009 canvas pants to the photographers gathered at the event.

Her military-style look was complete with a white chiffon blouse from the same collection, with gold piping and shiny gold buttons.

The ensemble was worn with aqua, grey, pink and gold tipped lizard and crocodile fan pumps from the same collection.

Another great look for Sienna.

Rachel Nichols, who you may remember as a blonde playing Julia in the movie “Sisterhood of Travelling Pants 2″, wore a grey asymmetrical Brian Reyes shift dress from the Fall 2009 collection.

She towered over Sienna Miller wearing a black satin pair of Casadei pumps.

Whilst her co-stars wore designer clothes, Pregnant Victoria’s Secret model Karolina Kurkova, wore head-to-toe Topshop.

She wore a red striped Topshop dress with a peplum at the waist which covered her tiny bump.

Added to her look was a Topshop black suede panther belt with a pair of Topshop suede boots.

Cheap but chic.
