After what seems like years of waiting, the pictures of Lily Allen for Chanel bags Fall 2009 campaign have finally surfaced.

The new Chanel handbag line is called “Coco Cocoon” which launches in October.

It’s a collection of reversible, lightweight nylon and lambskin bags in black, ecru, navy, or beige. Turn them inside out, and you’ve got the same tote, overnight duffel, or hanging garment bag in quilted garnet—the original lining colour of the house’s classic 2.55 bag.

As much as I didn’t particular like the idea of Lily Allen being the face of Chanel, she does make these hideous bags look really cute in the ad campaign.

I like the slight reference to “Breakfast At Tiffany’s”, plus I sense a bit of Victoria Beckham too.

Lily is still very much Lily in these ads. They haven’t tried to make her someone she’s not which I was initially worried about.

The pictures below in full colour paint a very ugly picture. Sorry Uncle Karl, but me no likey.

Okay, this line is hysterical. And so completely spot-on. I’m utterly puzzled by these bags – the concept, the purpose, the materials, the complete look, everything.

They’ll sell like hotcakes, largely because of Lily’s presence in the campaign and the associated buzz, but that doesn’t change the fact that they are so damn ugly.

I agree it’s the strangest concept..

I know we are going through tough times but 2in1 bags are not the solution, especially when they look this bad.

Focusing on the coloured pictures, I finally get why the campaing is in B&W!

The colour combonations are awful – especially the green and brown bag. In the black and white pictures they don’t seem bad, but the coloured ones not so much.

If they were just black like they appear to be in Lily ads I think people may have liked them

Totally agree. Me no likey, either. I agree: the photos for the ads are great, styling Lily like Audrey but letting Lily be Lily.
I can’t even put my finger on why it depresses me so much. I love the classic Chanel quilt bags with chains, but this.. I know!! I think my mom had a ski jacket like that in the 80s!

I usually play a game with a line, ‘if my fairy godmother said I had to have one of these for free..’ and in this case, sorry, I can’t come up with any.

I can’t believe these bags are designed by the same man who can create those amazing haute couture dress.. They must be designed by Lily herself, not only represented by her!

lily just makes this ad campaign cheap and tacky looking, no matter how much expensive clothing and diamonds you put on her she is still a tacky chav deep down.

as for the bags, i really wish i never looked at them they are horrible.

Why is bratty Lily Allen promoting Chanel? She’s obviously not a model and I know sometimes designers just go for people who they think represent the ethos of the brand but to me women like Diane Kruger, Keira Knightley and Audrey Tautou are far better suited.

Lily Allen is obnoxious, but she has the ability to look cute. She’s far cuter than these bags. But they made certain to photoshop her, which I think takes away more cuteness. Chanel needs to work a little harder to get back on top.
