Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: June 2009

Kylie Minogue and Dita von Teese are both big fans of Jean Paul Gaultier’s work.

Kylie will often wear his custom designs on stage, whereas Dita will wear his pieces on the red carpet.

Evan Rachel Wood has managed to shake off the Dita comparisons in recent months, and I don’t get any Dita vibes from this look.

The actress wore a sophisticated Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2009 criss cross halter black dress to the New York screening of “Whatever Works” last night.

The belted dress has a fishnet overlay, which you can see via the cut out panel on her thigh.

Her look was completed with her red hair tied back, with a few pieces framing her face, black Louboutin peep-toes, and a dark grey sparkling VBH Venus Clutch.

She opted for rosy shimmering pink lips, when she could have easily opted for red.

I love this look.  She looks very mature, sophisticated and elegant.

You couldn’t miss Zoe Saldana at the LA premiere Star Trek, she would have been one one with all the jaws dropping around her.

The star wore a black Emilio Pucci beaded dress, with snake-like detail slithering around her mesh panel cutouts.

Her sexy swagger and Brian Atwood “Wicked” shoes completed this perfect look.

Fergie created a similar OMG moment when she arrived at the “Late Show with David Letterman” this week.

Her green and silver figure-hugging dress, was more daring with the cutaway sections revealing Fergie’s waist, back and shoulders. Silver heels and a chunky ring completed the look.

As much as I love both of them, I prefer Zoe’s black version with the mesh panel cut outs. It’s sex appeal is more understated.

Last week when I saw a Kim Kardashian at “The Taking Of Pelham 123″ LA premiere, I said that she was wearing a white Balmain jacket.

But was she???

Intermix has a white bold shouldered jacket on their website, which bares a very strong resemblance to the Balmain jacket.

On second glance, it’s clear that Kim’s jacket is the Marley version as they both have rounded edges, and the Balmain jacket is square.

Easy mistake to make, but at least we have all found a cheaper alternative.

UPDATE: This jacket is now sold out. I guess you guys did like the cheaper alternative.

There was a time when everyone lusted over a particular bag. This season celebrities are loving shoes. We’ve had the Christian Louboutin Differa, the Louis Vuitton Spicy and Jimmy Choo Corsica strappy sandals.

These Corsica heels have been heavily advertised and lusted after.

Tinsley Mortimer wore hers with a matching clutch, Rosana Pastor mismatched hers with a aqua satin dress, and Jamelia used hers to add a pop of colour to her LBD.

The sandals were also available in a nude colour, which these ladies worked well with their neutral looks.

Sandra Bullock was on the NBC’s ‘Today’ show yesterday, talking about her new romantic comedy ‘The Proposal’, which also stars Ryan Reynolds.

The movie is about a pushy boss forces her young assistant to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the US, and avoid deportation to Canada.

Matt Lauer started off the interview joking about seeing Sandra naked for the first time in the romantic comedy. What is he 12?

Sandra wore a blue floral Alberta Ferretti cap sleeved silk dress, which is from the Pre-Fall 2009 collection, with tights, and black heels.

As if by coincidence, this same dress was today uploaded onto Net-A-Porter’s US site for $1,495, and the international site for £875/€1,094.

This truly elegant, yet simple piece will add a subdued sense of style to your closet.
