Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: June 2009

Lusiaviaroma.com uploaded some Fall 2009 pieces to their website this weekend, and I spent my Sunday morning happily looking through all the pieces to pick out what I think maybe the best selling pieces.

Some are available now, some are available to pre-order.

I was drooling over the blue sequined asymmetrical Balmain mini, which is on my Red Carpet Wish List for Megan Fox.

You will also notice the stunning pink strapless Valentino strapless gown which Cannes Film Festival judge Shu Qi wore to the Vengeance Premiere.

Other great pieces include a forest green Herve Leger dress with padded shoulders, a Jil Sander sculptural dress, a Emanuel Ungaro printed strapless mini, and a Givenchy one-sleeved gown.

And the shoes…Oh the shoes…*sighs*

From the Giuseppe Zanotti triple buckle metal fringe suede boots, to the Balmain multi-zip suede boots, to a surprisingly edgy Donna Karan crocodile boots, I don’t know which I love more.

My boyfriend is quite used to me being the same height as him in my heels, but those Christian Louboutin 6in platform ankle boots will make me 6ft 5in. I don’t think he’ll be too happy.

Bags and accessories have been added too. Happy shopping.

On Sunday evening Megan Fox arrived at the ‘Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen’ Germany premiere wearing a Roberto Cavalli maroon gown with a thigh high split, plus a gold snake framing the cut-out detail on her hip.

I really dislike the whole look.  Many of you will argue that this is look is not too dissimilar to the Donna Karan look I voted Best Dressed of The Week, and I will strongly disagree.

This look feels a bit desperate.  Megan and her stylist seem to have gotten drunk on the compliments from the Donna Karan look, and they tried to make lightening strike twice. It didn’t.

The only thing working for me here are the leg lengthening nude Brian Atwood heels.

There’s looking sexy and being overtly sexy that it borders on tacky, this is very much the latter.  It feels so unnaturally forced.

On Friday evening Megan attended the photocall in Paris, wearing an Alberta Ferretti Pre-Fall 2009 printed knee-length dress with bronze peep-toe pumps.

I like this look, and much prefer her dress to the runway version.

There’s not a hint of desperation here. The dress is simple, sexy and elegant, and much preferred out of these two looks.

Lauren Conrard was seen in West Hollywood on Friday looking fabulous for a photo shoot with Harper’s Bazaar.

She was wearing a brunette wig, which I totally love as it really brightens up her face. I hopes she considers this colour for a permanent look.

She was seen carrying many Marc Jacobs bags on her shoot which will fool you into thinking she was wearing Marc Jacobs, but she was actually wearing an embellished jacket from Moschino’s Fall 2009 collection.

Dark navy jeans and lusty worthy heels complete the look.

Halle Berry looked breathtakingly beautiful wearing a one-shouldered lilac Marchesa chiffon gown. Does this women ever have a day off not looking gorgeous?

The outstanding gown had silver crystal embroidery details on the bodice, which matched her bangles.

The actress is still working her sexy short do, but will eventually shave it off completely for her new movie “Nappily Ever After”. Brave girl.

It only Monday morning and we have two contenders for Best Dressed Of The Week.

Kelly Lin looks very sexy in her red hot plunging Versace Fall 2009 gown, with paillettes on one side of the bodice.

I love the colour, the gold clutch and matching bracelet.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find a full length picture of Fan Bing Bing wearing this pink Versace Spring 2009 gown.

The dramatic folds and bold colour helps this stunning gown stand out.

You may remember January Jones wore the blue version to the Golden Globes earlier this year.

I much prefer Li Bing Bing’s Chanel Spring 2009 ensemble on the runway.

I prefer the way the skirt sits lower, but I understand that Li wanted to show-off her Louis Vuitton Spicy heels.

Li’s skirt also has too much fou fou, I feel like it needs padding down.

Zhou Xun stepped in the Chanel archives, and picked out this gorgeous Fall 2007 Couture haltered creation.

I’m glad she didn’t try to style her embellished dress with a pink bow and cape, with the boots and gloves like on runway as it would have been overkill.

She kept her look simple opting only for black simple satin pumps and a black embellished clutch.

Zhang Ziyi was gorgeous as always wearing a low slung ivory strapless gown with rosette details on the hip.

Fang Bing Bing’s Salvatore Ferragamo red keyhole strapless gown is gorgeous, but unfortunately she doesn’t carry it as well as the model on the runway.

Its hard to tell if she just need to pull her gown down, or she’s just a wee bit short for the gown.

Betty Huang Yi opted for a quirky Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 ensemble which included a feathered skirt, and Spicy heels.  Her orange necklace, and bangles added some much needed colour to the this look.

Ruby Lin is one of my Best Dressed at this festival wearing a purple one-shouldered Versace Spring 2009 gown.  She’s glowing with gorgeousity.

Sun Li opted for a teal blue Valentino Spring 2009 off-the-shoulder gown. Simple, yet elegant.

After really impressing me at Cannes, Zhao Wei opts for a plunging black gown.

Actress Yu Nan wore an embellished haltered baby blue Valentino Spring 2009 with a draped detail on the skirt.

Charlene Choi also wore a dress from the same collection. She picked a cream one-shouldered mini with a layered skirt and embroidered bodice.

We haven’t seen many of these rise and fall Nina Ricci Spring 2009 gown on the red carpet, and we will still have to wait as Jang Seo-Hee opted to modified hers from the runway.

She still looks amazing though.

Miriam Yeung opted for a Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2009 high neck black dress, with JPG’s signature cross on the bodice.

Excuse me whilst I pick my chin off the floor.

I’ve waited my whole lifetime for Jennifer Aniston to wow me, and she does wearing this Prada Spring 2009 silver metallic crushed dress.

What I love about this look the most is the confidence she exudes. It’s oozing from every pore and for me that’s more captivating than the colour and the cut.

Jen could have gone for the safer runway dress as it’s in her favourite colour – Black, but she not only opted for the silver dress, but a shorten silver dress plus she didn’t press it like Nicole Kidman did.

This may not sit well with Jennifer Aniston’s loyal fans as this is such a huge departure from her usual style, but I love it.

Oh and I hate to be crude, but where did those twins sprout from?

This is the first time in a long time that Amber Valletta has proved her supermodel status.

She hasn’t impressed me much on her last few outings, but she works it out in this maroon sequined Proenza Schouler 2009 Pre-Fall dress.

I love the colour the cut-outs in the shoulders, and the contrast exposed zipper at the back.

She completed her look with her hair tied back with sweeping bangs, whilst wearing black patent Brian Atwood “Maniac” pumps and carrying a feathered Raven Kauffman Couture clutch.

Like Jennifer Aniston, I would have bet on Jodie Foster picking the black runway version of this Giorgio Armani Fall 2009 dress. But instead she wore a grey satin, shadow-print version with complementary strappy sandals and clutch.

Her dress is exquisite with the origami folds on the bodice, and the daring low cut.

I love that these women are stepping out of their comfort-zones at this event.

Chelsea Handler wore a two-tone Lanvin Spring 2009 dress, with satin champagne strappy heels.

We’re not used to seeing Chelsea this polished and spectacular, but she pulls this look off with great aplomb.

I hope she keeps up this sophisticated style of dressing, as I could really warm to her.

Mary McCormack tried to bring this grey strapless Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2008 dress up-to-date with a cage belt and YSL Trib Two’s.

It’s a nice look, but we’ve seen this dress so many, many, many times before.

Michelle Trachtenberg wore a Reem Acra knee-length dress covered in gold sequined leaf details and a contrasting waist band.

Her dress which she wears with black open-toes heels is nice enough, but it feels a bit too old for her.

Jenny McCartney looked out-friggin-standing wearing this crisp white pant suit.

Even though she has been dressing so sophisticatedly for a while now, I’m still always surprised at her fabulous looks.

Hair, make-up earrings, clutch, everything is perfect. My only bug-bear are her extremely long pants. I hate the thought of them picking up dirty as they drag on the floor.

Of all these looks Dania Ramirez’ is the one I would definitely purchase to go shopping at the mall on a sunny day. I love this summery look with the white tube top, floral tulip skirt and purple accessories, but it’s feels too casual for the red carpet.

Terri Seymour showed off that enivalbe figure wearing a coral RM by Roland Mouret Fluro dress with pleated neckline knee-length dress, paired with black patent pumps.

Selena Gomez wore a simple black H&M tank dress, with equally simple black pumps.

Elizabeth Banks set the bar really high for her red carpet looks during Cannes Film Festival, but I’m not really enjoying this look on her at all.

Her sparkling MaxMara dress is nice enough, but I have never been a fan of a sheer yoke. Reminds me too much of ice-skaters.

The actress completed her look with satin black pumps and a matching clutch.

Keke Palmer wore a printed maxi dress, which she accessorized with peacock earrings.

I really don’t like this dress as too much going on with the clashing prints plus those earrings are just hideous and so unnecessary.

Lynn Collins’ invite must have said fancy dress.

Christina Hendricks has such a stunning figure, and she embraces colour in many of her looks.

With that said I can’t help but be really disappointed with her all black, all boring look at this event, when so many women really step it up a notch.
