Back in September 2008, this black and white strapless Gianfranco Ferré dress was presented during Milan Fashion Week.
The next time we saw it, was on Anna Hathaway at the Critic Choice Awards, as we marveled at the gorgeous structured two tone piece.
The dress looks like a traditional white dress from one side, but the black side panel added a creative twist making the dress a stand out piece.
Alice + Olivia have created a similar dress, which was no doubt inspired by the Gianfranco Ferré dress. It’s strapless, black and white, has a pleated overlay and buckled belt.
I’m not sure how much the Gianfranco Ferré dress costs, but the Alice + Olivia dress only cost $367 from Shopbop.com.

It’s much better the Ferrè’s version.
No the first version Gianfranco Ferré dress wins it for me. I really like the structure and the belt is much nicer.
Come on, Ferre’s version cannot compare with this… It’s much better than the copycat… I fell in love with this dress on the runway, I loved Anne Hathaway in it, and now it’s just sad how bad copy Alice+Olivia is…
these posts always remind me of streep chewing hathaway out about her cerulean blue sweater in devil wears prada.
“And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it’s sort of comical how you think that you’ve made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you’re wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room.”
LOVE IT
“from a pile of stuff”, and when she says “stuff” she looks extremely disgusted…
if its such a blatant copy i’d think it’d at least be really cheap
as in topshop
I loved that dress on Anne!! Shame about the belt on the alice + olivia one, besides that it’s a cute dress!
