Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Kylie Minogue put on a special concert for the ‘Miracle Africa International Foundation Charity’, at the VIP Room during Cannes Film Festival this weekend.

In an event sponsored by Chopard, the Australian singer performed in front of stars such as Peaches Geldof, Tamara Beckwith and James Blunt. Kylie arrived at the VIP Room, wearing a black leather strapless Balmain Fall 2009 jewel encrusted mini dress, with an equally dazzling pair of heels.

It’s a nice piece, but I don’t think it does anything for Kylie. Maybe it’s the angle of the picture, but I think it makes her look boxy, when we all know what an amazing figure she really has.

I much preferred the Balmain Fall 2009 strapless jumpsuit, with an embellished v-shaped panel, and harem pants, she performed, as it was more flattering.

Kylie has worn similar pieces from Jean Paul Gaultier, for her recent tour.

Kylie’s other performance piece, was black Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2009 top, with circular sleeves, and a jeweled rosette.

Kylie cut up a pair of Chanel Fall 2008 half lace, half opaque tights, and used them as sleeves. A dazzling garter belt and fishnet tights, completed the sexy look.

Peaches Geldof arrived straight from the The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus Premiere, as she had the same hairstyle, make-up and earrings, but opted to changed into a pink Dolce & Gabbana off-the shoulder gown, with contrast piping and a ruffled trim.

The dress may look familiar to you, that’s because AnnaLynne McCord wore the sexy shorter dress version, to the 90210 Season Wrap Party.

At this years Brit Awards, Kimberley Walsh arrived with her Girls Aloud band mates, wearing a white plunging Roberto Cavalli Spring 2009 gown, with gold chain trims.

She looked so glamourous, and sexy with the cut-out details showing off her sun-kissed skin.

Taiwanese actress Shu Qi attended the Inglourious Basterds Premiere during Cannes Film Festival wearing the same dress, but for me having much less impact, despite looking beautiful in the gown.

Kimberley’s curves make this dress so much more appealing, so she wins for me.

“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” Premiere

Lily Cole looked like a fairytale princess in her pale blue Chanel Fall 2007 Couture gown.

As soon as I saw Lily, I immediately thought of Amy Adams’ character Giselle in the Disney movie Enchanted, as Lily has that same beautiful innocence.

Spanish Model and TV host Mar Saura, causes a stir by striking a sexy pose wearing a Nina Ricci Spring 2009 halter dress with a rise and fall hem.

The dress showed off her long legs and Jimmy Choo Pixie sandals.

Model Noemie Lenoir could wear a black sack and still shine, but instead opted for an Armani Privé Spring 2009 strapless gown.

Her stunning gown had an embroidered bell-shaped skirt and a sequin bodice.

Credit were credit is due, Peaches Geldof is trying.

But even in this electric blue strapless Roberto Cavalli gown, I’m still not particularly convinced she has turned over a new leaf.

“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” Photocall

Lily opted for a low key look for the photocall wearing a pale pink top with Stella McCartney ankle zip jeans and a pair of quite hideous pink and orange heels.

“Face” Premiere

Zhang Ziyi looked utterly divine in her pink floral Giorgio Armani Spring 2009 strapless gown with a twisted bodice.

The dress should have been the main focus – especially as her hair was pulled back and her make-up was subtle – but I find myself instantly drawn to her necklace.

What a magnificent piece it is, and I’m usually put off by a large statement pieces grabbing away the attention from the gown.

As much as I love Kerry Washington I don’t love her Monique Lhuillier gown, despite how elegant she looks.

I think it’s the lace one-sleeved top half which is putting me off.

When I saw her I really wanted to find something nice to say, but all I could think was I like her Roger Vivier black satin clutch.

Michelle Yeoh was the picture of elegance wearing a black shimmering Roberto Cavalli gown, with an exquisite silver necklace.

“Map of the Sounds of Tokyo” Premiere

This is something we don’t see very often from Rinko Kikuchi – a soft and sweet look.

Usually she’s wearing something cutting edge, couture, or well structured, so this white ethereal vintage Sophia Kokosalaki gown is a nice refreshing change.

Actress Elodie Bouchez wore a strapless Balmain Spring 2009 LBD with a studded belt  and Jimmy Choo Seattle sandals.

Elodie’s look has less sparkle, in comparison to the runway version because she opted for the black belt which I actually prefer.

“Map of the Sounds of Tokyo” Premiere

This more like the Rinko Kikuchi we know, wearing a piece that has a lot of personality.

Her Chanel Resort 2010 dress included a peplum on the waist, and gold detailing throughout.

Last year, many of you accused Kerry Washington of always playing it safe.

She didn’t play it safe at the Met Gala, and I wouldn’t call this Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 ensemble a safe option either.

So it looks like she has finally shrugged off the ‘safe’ label wouldn’t you agree?

Her look consisted of a futuristic silver metallic bustier with a pale pink tulip skirt, gold platform heels with a velvet ankle tie, and a silver embroidered clutch.

I love that she is taking risks without over-doing it and without looking ridiculous.

Rihanna wore the raspberry runway skirt to the DKMS Gala.

Michelle Yeoh hosted this event wearing a Caribbean blue Roberto Cavalli cowl neck dress, with a shutter pleated detail on the front.

This is a sophisticated evening dress, but Michelle makes it work for her daytime event.

Mary Louise Parker wore the gown version of this dress to the Emmy’s last year.

Claudia Schiffer opted for a silk nude coloured dress with kimono-style sleeves which gave her a warm glow.

Her look was completed with beige accessories.

This week, was the week when we possibly saw the birth of a new colour trend – green.

Iman, Michelle Yeoh, and even Paula Abdul on American Idol, glowed in green, but none captured my heart like Rachel Weisz, and it seems that you guys were equally captivated.

She was a goddess walking the red carpet for her Agora premiere at Cannes Film Festival wearing a green strapless Valentino gown.

She was light years away from her Met Gala disappointment. She had something to prove, and didn’t let us down.

Diane put up a great challenge, and I’ll admit she did sway me momentarily, but Rachel was to total perfection from her hair, to her make-up, to her gown.
