Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: May 2009

Jennifer Lopez smouldered in a curve-enhancing Temperley London teal jersey gown.

The gown had a cowl back, blouson sleeves, a ruched detail on the skirt, and floor-sweeping fishtail train.

I love the whole look especially the hair, and the smoky eyes.

Garcelle Beauvais is gorgeous, we all know that, but this is the first time in a long time I have been really wowed by her.

She always looks nice, but here she renews that girl crush I had on her many years ago. She looks incredibly glamourous here.

This makes two purple dresses in one weekend for singer Jewel.

First was her Tadashi Shoji mini to the Rock to Erase MS event, but for this occasion she wore a David Meister violet long flowing one-shouldered gown, which she also performed in.

Monique Coleman shows off her legs, this ice blue satin dress.

Lynda Lopez, Jennifer’s younger sister, and mother also attended this event.

Lynda looked stunning in a beige tiered halter gown, but I didn’t like her black platform heels with this light coloured gown.

Ginnifer Goodwin graces the cover of the June 2009 edition of W magazine, in a racy editorial aptly titled “Not So Goodwin”.

The editorial sees Ginnifer in various states of undress, entertaining some cute boys, who appear to entertain themselves when she’s not looking.

Ginnifer has an amazing body, which she is only too proud to show off in this editorial.

It’s not something I would have thought she could pull off, but she looks good.

Here are some extracts from her interview:

On being in a relationship: “I’m a better person in a relationship, and I’m a happier person. I need to come home at the end of the day and have it not be about me and my freaking hair and makeup. And I think my work is more inspired when home is safe and sound and solid because what I do for a living is so bananas and so insecure.”

On actors giving romance advice: “I don’t know why anyone would want to ask an actor for dating advice. We are not the poster children for healthy relationships.”

On becoming a vegan: “I’m so anti body-image issues. It was always part of my identity that I would show off by eating everything. But I’ve made a decision that I could not continue to support these industries.”

On her new home:
“I’m in a relationship with this house right now. I’m in love with it. I plan to be here a long time. I assume it’s where I’ll get married-I’ll only marry a fella who loves the house like I do-and have my first child.”

You can read the whole interview here.

Kerry Washington opted for a black and white look for her red carpet appearance for the Washington premiere of Poliwood this weekend.

Poliwood is a documentary that gives the viewer access to the influence Hollywood has over today’s political process, showing the thin line between politician and actor, news and entertainment, policy and tabloid.

Kerry wore a Narciso Rodriguez Graffiti-print silk dress, with a black leather jacket, a Brian Atwood white leather clutch, and black peep-toes.

The dress has a chic cut, and the leather jacket makes her look slightly edgy, but those bangs are too long.

This sophisticated dress is available to purchase from Net-A-Porter’s US site for $2,100.

LOOOOVE.

This blue sequin one sleeved Balmain Fall 2009 mini dress was so hot model Erin Wasson, I worried she had ruined it for everyone else.

No one will make this dress work, I thought, but I was wrong.

Last week Lady GaGa was on a photo shoot in San Diego wearing the same dress, and she looks absolutely outstanding, proving that the glimmering dress was more mesmerizing than the gorgeous Erin.

GaGa strikes several poses, and has 3 wardrobe changes during the shoot. One leaves very little to the imagination, but we have come to expect from Gaga.

For more pictures from this shoot, check out Faded Youth Blog.

I’m still hoping to see this dress on the red carpet. The first person who pops to mind is Megan Fox.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen World Premiere this June. I see it, do you see it?

WOW. This red strapless Farah Angsana Fall 2009 gown, is so far away from the Kristin Cavallari we’re used to seeing on the red carpet.

This is what happens when a reality TV star takes herself out of her comfort “uniform” zone of Herve Leger and Trib Two’s, and tries something different.

Melissa George picked a cream leather Hervé Léger by Max Azria Spring 2009 dress, with an airbrush print. This is very different from the bandage dresses we are used to seeing from Max Azria.

The panel down the front, helps give her the illusion of a very tiny waist.

Angie Harmon wore a Moschino Spring 2009 black and taupe sleeveless dress, with a cute ruffled neckline, and chiffon floral appliqués around the waist.

Her look was complete with very sexy strappy sandals.

One thing I will say about Avril Lavigne, is that she hasn’t dialed down her look since getting married.

Jessica Biel, Rachel Bilson, and even the hottest chick on the planet Adrian Lima, all dialed down their looks once becoming part of a couple.

That being said, it’s not the best dress on this red carpet, which further proves she hasn’t changed a bit.

Yes we have all given credit to Kim Kardashian toning down her trashy ways, but in this grey jersey dress, she’s totally muted.

Loving the nude lips though.

Jessica Lowndes wore silver accessories with her Rebecca Taylor green strapless dress, which had a ruffled detail on the skirt.

Jewel’s foot has finally healed, so now she can walk the red carpet unaided. Woohoo for her.

Like Jessica, silver accessories were used to punch up her purple tiered mini silk organza Tadashi Shoji Fall 2009 dress with tiered skirt dress.

Amanda Bynes wore a white dress, which is cute enough, but I can’t help but always be so bored by her. Her look is so formulaic, and it all starts with the hair.

She completes her look with gold tribute sandals.

After her appearance at the Costume Institute Gala, and her Emporio Armani campaign poster unveiling in New York, Victoria Beckham headed to Milan to see that gorgeous husband of hers, who she’s no doubt missing.

She landed in Linate Airport over the weekend, in head-to-toe black.

Her LBD, and studded belt are from her Fall 2009 collection, which she wore with Christian Louboutin Ariella ankle boots, and her Hermes Birkin bag.

Like many of you have said she looks very sophisticated and classic in black, but I miss the colourful VB.

What I love about this look is her hair. It looks like she’s added a few pieces in the back, to give her some volume, as she appears to have grown tired of the pixie cut.

I always preferred her with long hair. I would love to see her return to longer locks.
