Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: May 2009

Cannes Film Festival starts tomorrow, so we’ll have 11 days of the most beautiful gowns gracing the red carpet.

The only downside is that L’Oréal are said to have pulled their sponsorship of the event, so we may not see L’Oreal girls Aishwarya Rai, Kerry Washington, Natalie Imbruglia, Eva Longoria and Milla Jovovich gracing the red carpet.

I hope to see plenty of gowns which will give me goosebumps. Remember Cate Blanchett last year? We’re not still worthy.

As well as the premiere’s, their will be many parties. The biggest is the amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Benefit, plus Dolce & Gabbana will hold a bash, Dior and French Elle are hosting a dinner in honour of Marion Cotillard, Christian Audigier will celebrate his 51st birthday, and no doubt Roberto “I am the party” Cavalli will hold a party on his yacht.

Can’t wait.

Sophia Bush was one of the chosen few, to attend a private dinner hosted by designer Catherine Malandrino.

Of course the One Tree Hill beauty was wearing Malandrino’s outstanding designs.

She looked stunning in a blush georgette chain top, with black pencil skirt from the Malandrino Spring 2009 collection.

You may remember that Catherine wore the gown version of this chain top, to a similar party she held last year.

Catherine Malandrino glowed in a pink deep v-neck chiffon draped gown with pleated details, which was worn with much fierceness by the stunning model Sessilee Lopez.

Mary J Blige and Keisha Whitaker glowed in their dresses.

Mary wore a gold v-neck chic dress from the Malandrino Resort 2009 collection, whilst Keisha wore a white and gold print Malandrino kaftan over a white playsuit.

Jessica Biel is not my favourite actress to walk the red carpet, but give credit were credit is due, she looks surprisingly good here.

She lost my faith after she toned down her look, after dating Justin Timberlake, but I really like this one-shoulder 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2009 print dress.

It really flatters her figure, I like the ruffled detail cascading down the front of the dress, plus I’m super glad she didn’t:

A. wear the dress as it was presented on the runway
B. wear black heels.

Instead she opted for a pair of Christian Louboutin snakeskin peep-toes.

Her hair is also looking good. She wore it in a loose low ponytail, with a sexy chic side part. Remember her Oscars greasy hair.

Huge improvements in all departments.

On Saturday she was seen out in SoHo with a friend and they had popped into a Phillip Lim store. No doubt to pick up her dress for last night, but Jessica also tried on a beige 3.1 Phillip Lim Linen jumpsuit.

Net-A-Porter have the same pocketed jumpsuit in gunmetal blue, with drawstring waist.

You can buy this from the Net-A-Porter US site for $450, or the international site for £390/€479. This jumpsuit is the epitome of urban chic. Layer it over a fave t-shirt or white cotton tank, slip into a pair of gladiator sandals and grab a large tote.

Camilla Belle looked outstanding when she attended the Push LA premiere back in January.

She was mesmerizing, from the kaleidoscope print on her Alexander McQueen mini dress, to her Jimmy Choo Poem satin sandals, and who can’t help but be curious about those eyebrows.

This is an exquisite piece by McQueen. You’ll stand out with style in this eye catching dress, perfect for evening out, by just adding sky-high heels, and a cute clutch.

You can buy this dress from Net-A-Porter’s international site for £2,665.

If the dress is not to your tastes, Camilla’s Jimmy Choo champagne satin heels will be.

Purchase them from Net-A-Porter’s US site for $725, or the international site for £406/€540.

I feel nothing but utter disappointment looking at Kirsty Gallacher.

Zoe, a regular commenter, said yesterday that she felt Brit girls needed a lesson in style and poise, after viewing the British Soap Awards, and Kirsty fails to dismiss that claim.

What the hell was Kirsty thinking?

She’s wearing a Preen Power bandage dress, in a refreshing tangerine colour we haven’t seen before, but she goes and exposes her bra for the world to see.

The sad thing for me is, this isn’t a wardrobe malfunction, this is deliberate. For a Hollyoaks actress it may have gone unnoticed, but for a respected TV presenter….*shakes head*

Kirsty is better than this. Those of you who don’t know who she is will find it very hard to believe, but she is.

If I didn’t love Liz McClarnon so much, I would give her a telling off for wearing black on such a warm day in London yesterday, but I won’t because her Philip Armstrong Couture dress is beautiful, she didn’t wear tights, and she’s glowing with gorgeousity.

I love that bow detail on the shoulder of her dress, which she wears with a gold clutch, and gold Jimmy Choo Glenys watersnake sandals.

Before everyone went gaga over Alexa “I’m too cool for school” Chung, Lauren Laverne was the coolest girl on British television.

The presenter wore a graphic print yellow and black mini dress, with tights, a cropped jacket and and red Lulu Guinness clutch in the shape of lips.

I like everything from the hem of her skirt up.

I really love Kate Thornton. She’s sooo missed on the X Factor, I hate Kermit O’Leary. He’s the worst TV presenter in the world.

Her bangs are so cute, they really frame her face well, and they make her look about 10 years younger.

She wore her gorg asymmetrical fuchsia dress, with sparkling silver Gina heels.

Sharleen Spiteri wore a red Marc Jacobs Resort 2009 tulip dress, which I feel like I we’ve seen a million times before.

I don’t understand why Sharleen wore Givenchy lace ankle sandals, because the very detail of the sandal is lost over her thick black tights.

Phil Collins’ daughter, Lily Collins wore a Hervé Léger by Max Azria Spring 2009 black striped coral dress, before taking to her front row seat at the Hervé Léger Fall 2009 show during New York Fashion Week.

She kept her look simple with scraped-back hair, thick tights, and minimal jewelery.

Kristen Stewart also wore this dress, with bare legs, when she arrived to promote her new movie Adventureland.

It was great to see Kristen’s hair under control, but I feel Lily pulls off this look with more grace, as Kristen posture was so awkward, so Lily wins for me.

You can buy this dress from Saks.com for $1,900.
