Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: May 2009

I was quietly hoping Eva Longoria would wow me at Cannes Film Festival, and she has.

The Desperate Housewives star is at the film festival with the L’Oreal team, but she stands out amongst everyone else wearing an ice blue Atelier Versace Spring 2009 gown.

The gown has embroidered studded details, and a stunning shimmering train.

As Just Me said earlier, what a week for Haute Couture.

This is a big gown for petite actress, but she carries it off very well.

She wore her gown with stunning jewels, and dove grey YSL Trib Two’s.

You may remember in her Harper’s Bazaar Singapore interview that she said she owned them in every colour.

I kinda feel sorry for Abbie Cornish.

This was her movie premiere, her night to shine, but she got upstaged by Eva Longoria.

Her Fall 2009 gown, by Australian designer Toni Maticevski isn’t too bad, I love the colour, and it’s quite dramatic with the ruffles, tiers and pleats.

Good choice.

Actress Gabrielle Lazure arrived wearing a very sophisticated Moschino Fall 2009 dress.

This dress is a 2 in one piece.

Underneath it’s a simple simple crepe dress with a tie, but the magic happens with the organza overlay, as it has a red floral print.

Juliette Binoche graced the red carpet wearing a deep purple taffeta strapless Lanvin gown.

I love details on the bodice, and that she kept her décolletage bare, but I’m not so crazy about the floral hair accessory.

I just want to know why?

Why not invite Camilla Belle, Freida Pinto?

Why Phoebe Price?

She’s not a serious actress and she’s definitely not a L’Oreal girl, so I need to know why she is there.

The only thing I can relate to here, is her Mont Charles clutch.

For one night only Dita von Teese will be German.

The Eurovision Song Contest is this Saturday, and Dita has teaming up with the German entrant, therefore guaranteeing a HUGE audience for the show, and almost guaranteeing a win for the German’s.

The sexy burlesque star will appear on stage alongside Alex Christensen and Oscar Loya to play the part of Miss Kiss Kiss Bang in their performance.

She’ll be wearing a teeny tiny waist reducing corset, with decorative silver nipple covers, and an Elie Saab sequined jacket, but at today’s press conference for the show, the star was fully clothed.

She was wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2009 Couture skirt suit, consisting of a black pencil skirt, and an off-the-shoulder lace jacket, with a white detail though-out, which gives the jacket it’s structure.

Louboutin’s heels and black bag complete the look.

Liebe Dita, Liebe.

Russian model Natalia Vodianova, hosted of the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest, as the show takes place in her native country.

She was papped looking heavenly wearing a lilac Givenchy Spring 2009 Couture gown.

The gown has a feathered neckline, which is also adorned with chains.

I haven’t watch the Eurovision in about 10 years, but these two woman will tempt me to watch for the fashion alone.

“Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian” Washington Premiere

Amy Adams wore a RM by Roland Mouret Fall 2009 gown, for her premiere.

I love the pin-tuck detailing, and the pale lilac colour against her porcelain skin, but her hair isn’t glowing like it normally does.

The Caudwell Children Butterfly Ball, London

Elizabeth Hurley wore a silk Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2009 pink strapless gown, which was gathered above the waist with a circular clasp.

She kept her jewelery to a minimum, with a silver bracelet which matched her VBH envelope clutch.

“Seven Days” Tokyo Stage Greeting, Japan

It’s just not fair that Yunjin Kim looks so flawless with such minimal make-up.

The Lost actress opted for a black Gucci Spring 2009 asymmetrical dress, which like Liz’ gown, was gathered at the waist with a gold clasp.

Gucci Iman metallic T-strap sandals from the Fall 2009 collection, complete the look.

46664 & The Nelson Mandela Foundation Launches “Mandela Day”, LA

Marisa Tomei never fails to pull out all the stops on the red carpet, but this outfit doesn’t completely work for me. I love how she’s working the 80s shoulder pads in her blazer, but I’m not so crazy about the pants.

The masculine suit is made demure by a tidy up-do, and a sheer blouse.

“Late Show with David Letterman”, New York

Teri Hatcher opted for a classic, figure-hugging Moschino Cheap and Chic black strapless crepe dress with microdots.

This is a classic case of making a big statement with a simple LBD.

Karl Lagerfeld presented his Chanel Cruise 2010 collection in romantic Venice, with the runway’s back drop being the sunset, beach, and a cool light breeze, how could you not immediately fall in love with this collection?

We’ve had Paris-Londres, Paris-Moscou and now Paris-Venice.

The collection is said be inspired by Coco Chanel’s visits to Venice, where she promoted her beach pajamas. The collection was full of floaty chiffon dress, boucle jackets with fringed edges, nautical stripes, and rich reds.

I haven’t been overwhelmed by Karl’s collections for a while, with the mostly black and white pieces, but I was pleasantly surprised that I really liked this.

The models bob-style hairdo, and makeup reminded me of flapper girls. The mood of the collection makes me want to book my summer holiday now.

Rinko Kikuchi has grown out her bowl-style hair cut, into a very chic bob.

The actress wore a white Chanel Spring 2009 Couture lace dress, with the two tone runway ankle strap heels, and a black clutch.

I didn’t think much of this floaty chiffon ivory and black trimmed Chanel Pre-Fall 2009 dress, until I saw it on Anna Mouglalis.

Now I’m in love with it, it’s so romantic.
