Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: May 2009

Jim Carrey, Colin Firth and Robin Wright Penn arrived for the photocall of A Christmas Carol in horse-drawn carriages, with fake snow falling from the blue sky at Cannes Film Festival this afternoon.

Whilst the fake snow fell Robin looked cool in her Ray-Bans, navy jeans, and Matthew Williamson for H&M electric blue tuxedo jacket.

The tuxedo, which reader/stylist Victor Blanco owns, was inspired by a look featured in Matthew Williamson’s Spring 2009 runway show.

We’ve seen so much Couture during Cannes Film Festival, that’s it nice to see a touch of the high-street.

If Michael Jackson can do it, so can Victor.

YOU ROCK.

Woohoo. She’s arrived.

Last night Diane Kruger attended a press conference during Cannes Film Festival for the animated movie Lascars, and she’s already giving us high fashion.

She wore a short pink Lanvin dress with puff sleeves, tights and Stuart Weitzman ‘Jardin’ T-Strap sandals.

This dress was originally presented as at top on the runway. Maybe that’s because it was too short to be considered a dress.

I’m not crazy about Diane’s shoe choice.

The tights I get because of the length of the skirt, but the angle of the picture ruins this a bit for me because I can see the inside lining of the dress.

I waited a week for a Valentino gown to grace the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, then two come along at once.

We haven’t seen Evangeline Lilly on the red carpet since the Emmy Awards, back in September 2008 but she hasn’t lost any of her sparkle.

We are more use to seeing The Lost actress covered in dirt running through a jungle, but she looked stunning opting for a backless lace Valentino Spring 2009 Couture embroidered gown with cut out panels.

The hem modified from the runway, but it doesn’t diminish her gown in anyway.

Hopefully we will get to see more from the newly appointed L’Oreal ambassador.

Many of you felt disappointed when Eva Longoria wore your favourite Atelier Versace gown on the red carpet last week.

I can now sympathize because I had booked marked this Armani Privé Spring 2009 black sequined dress for Cate Blanchett, but it was worn by Isabelle Huppert.

The shorten hem takes away some of the magic of this dress, but Isabelle was right to do this. The longer version would’ve suited Cate better, because she’s so tall and statuesque.

All that said I love neckline.

Judge Shu Qi arrived wearing bubble gum pink strapless Valentino Pre-Fall 2009 gown with a bow detail on her side.

That’s 4 Valentino gowns in 1 evening. I am not worthy.

Tan Zhuo opted for silver t-bar heels with her shimmering champagne Roberto Cavalli Resort 2009 flapper dress.

Robin Wright Penn wore a black Narciso Rodriguez gown with a criss-cross detail on her back.

You may remember Jennifer Aniston wore this same dress in red,on the cover of the Vogue US December 2008 issue.

The forever elegant Kristin Scott Thomas arrived wearing a navy tiered Lanvin gown.

Her finishing touches of a chic up ‘do, drop earrings, and black clutch, perfected her look.

Asia Argento opted for a navy blue tiered strapless Roberto Cavalli gown with a stunning necklace.

I’m on the fence with Michelle Yeoh strapless nude Roberto Cavalli gown.

I’m just not sure if all that embroidered detail on the bust is too busy for such a neutral gown.

Laetitia Hallyday wore a fabulous Dolce & Gabbana tulle mermaid hem gown, unfortunately we have seen this gown too many times before.

On a bright sunny Saturday afternoon in Hollywood, Michelle Monaghan attended the LA premiere of the animated movie UP.

Her splashy print Peter Som Fall 2009 dress, matched the sun in terms of brightness. I adore the colours, the print, the length, and I even prefer her pink waist belt, as it pops more than the runway blue.

The lilac heels are also a delight. Someone could have easily paired this dress with black heels, but I’m thankful Michelle didn’t.

She is head-to-toe perfection, as I always expect from Michelle. She always delivers.

Finally, some Valentino on the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival.

I’ve been waiting for this moment, and I wasn’t let down.

Rachel Weisz was an absolute vision, wearing a green strapless ombre Valentino Fall 2009 chiffon gown with a thigh high split to her Agora premiere during Cannes last night.

She wore her silky brunette locks to one side, showing off her gold earrings, which matched her stack of bracelets.

The gold theme continued to her Christian Louboutin satin d’Orsay pumps, and her matching clutch.

Rachel is one of my favourite of Cannes, without question.

For the photocall, Rachel wore a lace olive green Christian Dior sheath dress.

Nude Louboutin’s, and gold bracelets completed this very sophisticated look.

I think appearing on nearly ever worst dressed list at the Costume Institute Gala, helped her get back to her best.

Despite Cannes Film Festival bringing us some of the best red carpet looks I’ve been craving for all year, we have seen many re-runs.

Korean actress Bae Doo-Na was the third celebrity to wear the strapless red satin Christian Dior Spring 2009 gown, which has a draped detail on the hip.

She wore it when she arrived at the Air Doll Premiere during Cannes Film Festival last week, with a gorgeous red and gold clutch.

Gisele Bundchen was slightly over-dress when she took to the stage at the launch of SKY HDTV in Brazil last month.

Aishwarya Rai was the first to wear this dress nearly a year ago, to the 2008 International Indian Film Academy Awards, whilst carrying a silver jeweled clutch.

Despite Gisele wearing this gown to a slighty informal event, she simply glows, and she’s wearing the least make-up.
