Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: May 2009

Penelope Cruz had food poisoning prior to this premiere, but who would believe her when she looks this great.

I must have searched through hundreds of pictures to find one of her on her own, because in nearly every photo she was held by Director Pedro Almodovar, and at times her dress became distorted and I wanted the perfect picture.

Penelope was sensational last night wearing a lilac chiffon draped strapless Marchesa Fall 2009 dress, with an embroidered bodice.

Again I’m loving the bare neck, as the bodice dazzles enough. I also love the way her hair is softly pulled back.

I fell out of love with Pen around awards season, but she’s back to her best here.

Actress Lea Seydoux walked the red carpet wearing the first Chanel gown at a premiere during Cannes Film Festival.

Her teal halter gown is from the Fall 2008 collection, which features black leather criss cross strips, and Celtic crosses.

For me the runway version works better with the 3 crosses, and the leather strips tied to the back rather than falling down the front skirt of the gown.

Denise Rich wears the yellow version of same Emilio Pucci silk halter gown which Michelle Ye wore earlier this week.

What a week for fabulous green gowns.

First Rachel Weisz, then Iman, and now Michelle Yeoh. Gorgeous.

Picking my top 5 Cannes gowns, may just have to be stretched to 10.

Michelle – imo – has never looked better than in this pleated green one-shouldered Versace gown.

Her emerald earrings are the perfect compliment to her gown.

54th Annual Village Voice Obie Awards, New York

For some reason Anne Hathaway wearing this Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2009 dress with cut-out shoulders, fails to hit the spot for me.

I think I’ve been spoilt by all the wonderful gowns at Cannes Film Festival to really appreciate it.

Cosmopolitan Best Fragrance Of The Year Award, Madrid

Singer Marta Sanchez showed off her legs, wearing a Gucci Sprint 2009 printed silk flute mini dress, with a khaki leather sash and suede Gucci Iman t-strap sandals.

VIP Room/Palm Beach, Cannes

Dita von Teese opted for a strapless Dolce & Gabbana barqoue dress with a beige, gold and rose floral fabric.

Her fuchsia pink heels were the perfect finishing touch, but that jeweled navy belt feels a bit heavy.

2009 FOX UpFront – After Party, New York

Eliza Dushku shows off her edgier side wearing a moss coloured Brian Reyes top, with a black diagonal skirt by the same designer.

A black cropped leather jacket, and snake-print heels complete the look.

Joely Fisher wore a red Gustavo Cadile chiffon gown, which was elegantly stylish for this occasion.

A Concert For Charity Featuring Band From TV, Miami

Teri Hatcher showed off her wild side, with a daring multi-coloured printed Roberto Cavalli maxi dress.

H&M and Designers Against AIDS (DAA) for the Fashion Against AIDS party, Paris

Dita von Teese wore a corseted LBD, which very much reminds me of Victoria Beckham’s Bidart tailored dress, which was an instant hit when it went on sale at Net-A-Porter.com.

British TV presenter Myleene Klass maybe the least known at this event, but she was by far the best dressed, wearing a nude strapless Jasper Conran Fall 2009 dress, with a organza floral detail on the skirt.

After Kirsty Gallacher let me down last week, Myleene is fast becoming my favourite Brit on the red carpet.

Nude Louboutin’s complete the look.

Peaches Geldof scrubs up well when she puts in the effort.

On this occasion she wore a white Paule Ka Fall 2009 bustier gown, with a black bow belt, which had white stitching.

She could have opted for different shoes from her previous party, but all in all, another good look for her, minus the tattoos.

Red Casadei heels, and an embellished Bulgari clutch complete the look.

Asia Argento shows off her Chopard bling, whilst wearing a black elegant Chanel gown.

Eva Herzigova wore a black strapless Roberto Cavalli dress which had cut-out details on the bodice, and a tulle poufy skirt, with Giuseppe Zanotti Special Edition crystal strap sandals in black.

She wore the silver version to the Costume Institute Gala.

Marion Cotillard’s look is simply elegant, but at the same time a little boring in this Lanvin strapless dress.

Victoria Beckham arrived at Heathrow airport yesterday en route to LA, wearing a black sheer top, a black Azzedine Alaia cropped cardigan, and skirt, plus black Louboutin’s, and a black Hermes bag.

I was happy to see just a tiny splash of a colour via her head scarf, but when I look back at more colourfully times, I can’t help but hear Madonna’s “This Used To Be My Playground” playing in my IJ (internal jukebox).

PLEASE bring back colour Victoria. I BEG you.

The same applies to her shopping style.

Since Rihanna’s Fashion Week, we haven’t seen much of her out and about.

This weekend she spotted arriving at Newark Liberty International Airport, from Honolulu, Hawaii.

The singer was wearing black jeans, workmen type boots, a leather cape, a hoodie, a beenie, and a Topshop Grace Jones tank top.

I have this tank, which I purchased because the icon that is Grace Jones, is emblazoned across it.

You can buy this tank from Topshop for £18/$36.
