Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: April 2009

Woot woot. Taraji P. Henson makes a long awaited return to the red carpet, and she proves by wearing this vintage Emanuel Ungaro fringed flapper style dress, with Azzedine Alaia boots, that her awards season run was not fluke.

After wearing a gorgeous 3.1 Phillip Lim dress the other night, this white Camilla and Marc dress for some reason reminds me of loo roll.

Not a flattering look, and so disappointing as I was considering putting her on a pedestal.

LOVE Kelly Osbourne in this black and white striped dress. The volume on the skirt of her bandage dress is blowing me away.

Her look is complete with Gina heels, and a Swarovski clutch.

Garcelle Beauvais was wearing a gorgeous strapless jersey LWD from the BCBG Max Azria asymmetric dress collection, but I’m captivated by that stunning statement necklace.

Jordana Brewster is wearing a really nice draped Christian Dior dress, but there’s TOO much black going on for a party titled ‘Hot Hollywood Style‘.

The same kinda applies to Fergie, although her look has a very interesting and distinctive edge to it, with the leather vest, over a fringed DSquared dress.

My main criticism is the hair.

Fergie, please decide what colour you wish your hair to be. At present I see black, I see brown, and a touch of honey colour highlights. I admired the changed at first, but now it’s looking like a home colour kit gone wrong.

Estelle, we’re used to seeing you in edgy design no one else would dare wear, but you’re just not the maxi dress wearing kind.

Her dress Layla, is wore with a Juliette Jake clutch.

Like Halle Berry’s striped maxi earlier this week, Shanna Moakler’s white

Foley+Corinna maxi dress, with multi-coloured stripes screams summer vacation.

I do though admire her creativity, in trying to match her eye make-up, to the colours on her dress. It looks like she gave up after trying 3 shades, thankfully.

Eliza Dushku opted for black and white stripes in this Moschino dress.

The party’s hot, she so Hollywood, so it was only natural Paris Hilton arrived at this event.

She snugged up to her beau wearing a Junko Shimada two-tone mini dress, with a Chanel purse, and Trib Two’s. Her jewels are outstanding.

Martina McBride wears a black strapless Miu Miu LBD, with her wonderfully voluminous dark locks and a Yigal Azrouel statement necklace.

Meagan Good wore a barely there LBD, under a black leather jacket. Her yellow strappy sandals was the only dash of colour she added to her look.

With regards to what Annie Wersching is wearing, some might say this is more negligee than red carpet ready, I would just be thankful it’s not black.

Beyonce Knowles has to be one of Elie Saab’s most loyal celebrity client. She has worn his blinged out gowns to many high profile events.

For the first time ever, Elie Saab produced an elegant daywear line with his signature glamour, and modern silhouette, for his Fall 2009 collection.

Drew Barrymore was the first celebrity to wear a piece from the daywear line for the Grey Gardens panel discussion last week.

Beyonce became the second, as she gracefully showed off those famous curves, wearing a dove grey (yes it looks white in these pictures) Elie Saab Fall 2009 dress, with a draped detail over one shoulder.

She wore the dress when she arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theater for a taping of the Late Show With David Letterman. She was there to promote her new thriller Obsessed.

I adore the dress on her, it’s so elegant and refined. Her look is complete with her trademark large earrings, and white Toni Maticevski peep-toes, with black heel and platform, plus multiple multi-coloured mini rosette details on the back.

She arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theater wearing in a plunging blue dress, teamed with Ruthie Davis gold ‘Odyssey’ heels, and a gorgeous champagne coloured Jillian Lewis Fall 2009 tailcoat, with an elegant ruffled lining. If this name sound familiar to you, it’s because she was one of the finalist on season 4 of Project Runway.

I need this coat in my life. If you need it too, you can purchase if from Searle for $1,498.

Mrs Carter continues to impress.

Should I be disturbed that Miley Cyrus and I both own this citronella Matthew Williamson for H&M sleeveless embroidered blouse?

Whilst I was queuing outside H&M in Regents Street in London to purchase this top yesterday, Miley had already worn it a few hours earlier, when she attended her Hannah Montana: The Movie Madrid photocall.

She glowed in the Spanish sunshine as she wore her top with jeans and black strappy sandals.

Later in the day for the premiere, Miley wore a two-tiered Luisa Beccaria Spring 2009 skirt, with a white tank, a gorgeous Lulu Frost necklace, and black pumps.

This is a cute fun look, even if it’s not totally believable on Miley, but I HATE the pumps. Even some cute white Converse sneakers would have been better than those Aldo pumps.

Oh Kate, how do you make rock chic look so effortlessly easy?

You even look better in this Balmain Fall 2009 silver striped dress, than the model on the runway, and she maybe half your age. *sighs*

Of all the people who have worn Balmain this year, Kate Moss is the archetypal Balmain girl. She edgy, she’s a bit rock n’ roll, plus she has the body and attitude to pull of this futuristic spacey dress, with sculptured shoulders, without looking like a try hard.

Kate Moss arrived at the unveiling of White Light designed by Shaun Leane in London yesterday, looking outstanding. I know a lot of you are O.V.E.R Balmain, but you have to admire how great she looks.

Because my heart is all a flutter, and I want to add Kate to the Best Dressed Of The Week, I’ll ignore those worn out Trib Two’s on her feet.

Her look was compete with a Loree Rodkin bondage ring.

From the runway to editorials, both Freida Pinto and Lakshmi Menon wore this stunning embellished Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2009 maroon dress in their recent editorials.

Freida wore the dress in her Vogue India March 2009 editorial, in a pose that saw her leaning against a couch quite passively.

Lakshmi’s Dazed & Confused April 2009 editorial was more powerful, with her dripping in gold necklaces, looking like a goddess. I’m still in total awe of her.

Freida doesn’t even come close. Lakshmi wins this easily.

If you were following me on twitter, you would have known that I attended the Matthew Williamson for H&M Pre-Launch event this evening.

The event started at 1830, but I got there around 1845, and was so crestfallen when I saw that the queue was going around the block. This meant I could kiss those pieces from my wish list goodbye.

The best thing about standing in the queue was seeing Matthew Williamson, who was happy to smile for the picture above, as he walked the length of the queue to see how many fashion hungry women were keen to get their hands on his collection.

Although I didn’t get the studded belt that I wanted, nor the Ginnifer Goodwin’s sequined dress, I did get the 5 pieces above.

My favourite piece was the fuchsia pink peacock embellished cardigan, which I originally wanted in blue, but I just adore it in pink.

For those of you who wanted to know prices:
£29.99/€39.90 for the cowl neck peacock top,
£49.99/€79.90 for the cardigan,
£34.99/€49.90 for the sleeveless embroidered top,
£39.99/€59.90 for the jacquard skirt and;
£14.99/€22.90 for the peacock pendent.

One of Matthew Williamson’s darlings, Sienna Miller was there.

She was not wearing the H&M line, but a multi-coloured dress from his Fall 2009 collection, which she looked amazing in.

Love the dress, and how fresh she looks, but I’m not crazy about the shoes at all.

If Sienna is Queen darling, then Mischa Barton is Princess darling.

She arrived wearing the same navy blue jacquard Matthew Williamson for H&M skirt I had purchased, with a cropped white tee, and Matthew Williamson for H&M leather waistcoat.

I love how the whole look is pulled together with those amazing Alexander McQueen studded platform peep-toe booties.

I still want that sequined dress, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will be there tomorrow.

UPDATE: I went back early this morning and got the sequined dress.

I ? it. It looks so cute in my wardrobe, and I can’t wait to wear it.
