Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: April 2009

This is what you call another fashion home run.

Drew Barrymore knock’s it out of the fashion ball park, with yet another fabulous look.

This time she channel 60s boho glamour in a gorgeous white Andrew GN Spring 2009 halter gown, with beaded neckline, when she arrived at the Grey Gardens LA premiere last night.

The dress was complimented with some stunning statement jewels, including an oversized aqua cuff, jade drop earrings, and a turquoise bauble ring.

The only thing I didn’t quite love about this look, were the purple Christian Louboutin satin Very Prive heels. To be honest my heart sank when I saw them.

She didn’t let me down with the hair and make-up though.

The 60s theme was continued with her blonde locks back-combed into a voluminous bouffant of loose wavy curls. Her make-up was kept minimal, with sultry eyes and pale pink lips.

I pray this will never end.

Tinsley Mortimer was also at the star studded New Yorks For Children Spring Dinner Dance on Wednesday night.

She was wearing the same white strapless Christian Dior dress with multi-coloured tulle floral appliqué’s, which Katy Perry wore to the Christian Dior Spring 2009 presentation during Paris Fashion Week.

Katy carried a white bag, wore lavender suede heels and a strawberry embellished clip in her hair.

Tinsley accessorized with gold accessories, which I prefer, so she wins this for me.

Dannii Minogue’s J’Aton Couture gown is outstanding. I’m in totally awe. She has worn pieces from this designer in the past, and the results are always spectacular.

The structure and detail is exquisite.

The peplum at the waist reminds me of the similar detail on some of the dresses from the Nina Ricci Fall 2009 collection.

I am very surprised Elle McPherson aka The Body, picked this Gucci Spring 2009 silk chiffon kaftan, as it covered her entire body.

Her toned figure was totally hidden under the shapeless dress.

Speaking of shapeless dresses.

Lara Bingle usually shines so brightly on the red carpet. This time her black and white dress fails to excite me.

Yves Saint Laurent pioneered men’s suit in women’s cuts, and the look has been recreated many times over the past fifty years.

In the 80s the trend was oversized. Like all trends, they come back around, and this is the case for the oversized Boyfriend blazer.

Stella MCartney featured many on her Spring 2009 runway, as did many other designers.

This trend has caught on very quickly because it’s extremely flattering to the wearer, and goes with everything. It can dress up shorts and pants, or it can add an edge to a cute flirty dress.

Celebs are really embracing this trend on the red carpet. We’ve seen these ladies wear their Boyfriend blazers mostly over dresses.

You can work this trend with 3 different price points.

Topshop Boyfriend Blazer £55
William Rast at Nordstrom $177.90
Acne Jeans New Standard Blazer at eLuxury $599

Diane Kruger was the Best Dressed at this event wearing a Marchesa Fall 2009 asymmetrical dress.

She’s beautiful, but the dress is exquisite. I love the feathered flower details cascading down the shoulder, and on the skirt of this lilac tulle draped dress.

I love how her hair is pulled back, so we get to see the stunning details on her dress.

The actress completes her look with Fendi bow-front peep-toes, and an Alexander McQueen box clutch.

This is the first Runway to Red Carpet I’ve done using my own runway picture. I took the picture of the model when I attended the Marchesa Fall 2009 presentation back in February during New York Fashion Week.

There was a time when Emmy Rossum was forever the prom-queen, but this delicate baby blue Christian Dior Resort 2009 gown is simply perfect for the occasion.

The breath-taking tiered gown, with an embellished waist band is so ethereal, so dreamy, and so magical.

Again I’m loving the hair pulled back with a single braid, and the icy accessories compliment the gown so well.

I don’t know what I am lusting over more. Joy Bryant’s Zac Posen Fall 2009 floaty floral dress, or her metallic ankle strap heels from the same collection.

Does this woman ever have a day off looking fabulous? This is just so easy for her, and she’s still not wearing any make-up on the red carpet.

Spanish supermodel Eugenia Silva sparkled in her golden sequined Giorgio Armani Spring 2009 gown.

When you are this beautiful, you don’t need many accessories, just a gorgeous dress, and a megawatt smile.

The only watchable thing about The City is Olivia Palermo, and her bitchy evil ways. What I can’t bare to look at, is her in this Zac Posen gown.

Talk about unflattering. There are so many dresses that would have worked from the Zac Posen Spring 2009 collection, but she picked a dress which makes her look like a kid playing dress up in mummy’s clothes.

Socialite Poppy Delevigne wore a taupe flapper style Alberta Ferretti Spring 2009 dress, which has also been worn by Shenae Grimes and Mischa Barton.

Poppy’s version is modified from the runway, with a plunging-neckline making it much sexier.

Her look was completed with a leather biker jacket, and a pair of lavender Jimmy Choo satin diamante platform sandals.

Rachel Roy looks chic in a coral long-sleeved dress, which of course is her own design.

I just love how those turquoise earrings pop.

OK, the red hair was cute at first, but I am wishing Coco Rocha’s would return to her dark roots. I really dislike the disheveled way she is styled here.

I’m equally not enthused about her black and white geometric print Zac Posen Spring 2009 dress. It’s not an easy dress to pull off, and I think Coco fails terribly.

I’m not against fur like the stole Drew Barrymore wore yesterday, but when it looks like an animals tail, like Maggie Rizer’s, it gives me the creeps.

What I don’t understand is why the stole in the first instance? It’s wrapped around Maggie in the place where the most detail of this Emanuel Ungaro Fall 2008 gown is.

Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos looked delightful in this one-shouldered lavender print Emanuel Ungaro Resort 2009 gown.

I take back what I said about this Alexander Wang strapless tube dress being a ‘model’ dress.

Sophia more than pulls off this look.

I like that she left her neck bare, and didn’t over accessorize this look.

She is wearing her Dior Extreme gladiator sandals again, whilst completing the look with a Chanel purse.

Lindsay Lohan sure makes this Balmain Spring 2008 strapless mini dress, with silver embellishments look incredibly tacky.

Eva Longoria goes for a sophisticated all black look.

I especially love her Armani Exchange vest, with an exaggerated bow.

Hayden Panettiere looks incredibly cute wearing a green asymmetrical ruffled dress, with tan heels, whilst showing off her A/X watch.

Kristen Bell’s laid back casual look, included an 3.1 Phillip Lim tiered ikat print tank, with khaki pants.

A long beaded necklace, and black peep-toe booties complete the look.
