Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: April 2009

Like Drew Barrymore, there was more good stuff to come from Zoe Saldana over the weekend.

The Star Trek actress was still promoting her latest film, this time in Madrid.

She looked very sophisticated dressed in black and white printed Loewe Spring 2009 dress, which had ruffled detail cascading down the front.

Black accessories included a belt to nip in her waist, and Jimmy Choo heels, with a lace-like detail.

Gold jewelry completed the look including hooped earrings, and cut-out cuff.

Spanish actress Barbara Lennie really didn’t give herself a chance by wearing tights with this edgy Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 dress.

The dress was hard enough, to pull off, but the tights make the look frumpy, and we all know Marc Jacobs doesn’t do frumpy for Louis Vuitton.

She’s such a beautiful woman, so this is such a huge shame.

She completes her look with a Louis Vuitton Monogram Minaudière clutch, and those sexy Louis Vuitton Spicy heels.

Spanish actress Olivia Molina arrives with wild wavy hair to this event, whilst looking elegantly slender, wearing a dramatic black and red floral print Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2009 strapless dress.

Love the dress, but getting a bit tired of booties with everything.

Actress Blanca Suarez opted for a more casual look wearing a navy and white zig-zag print Diane von Furstenberg scarf dress, with of yellow print running through the dress.

I’m not so crazy about the rope cord neckline. It’s quite unflattering on her.

I love Aida Folch’s strapless, not so LBD.

The ruffles, pleats, folds and rosettes all make for a very interesting texture and design.

Most dramatic dress of the night goes to model Almudena Fernandez.

The colour is divine on her. The bodice sparkles, the pleated and tiered skirt is very different, but wonderfully dramatic.

Gorgeous.

Jessica Stroup attended the Badgley Mischka Fall 2009 show during New York Fashion Week, wearing a white sweet-heart necklined modified version the Pre-Fall 2009 gown, with a feathered skirt, and jeweled bodice.

Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria, also opted for a modified version, when she arrived at the premiere of The Perfect Game during the Guadalajara International Film Festival in Mexico.

Eva’s hair and shoes really let her down, in a cheesy prom queen kinda of way. Jessica’s neater, shorter hemline is more complimentary, and overall the dress is a better style fit, so she wins this for me.

When Drew Barrymore attended the Grey Gardens panel discussion, presented by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Hollywood on Friday, she wore a sea green Elie Saab Fall 2009 one-sleeved dress.

OK. Let’s start with the positives.

I love the dress, especially the colour, the draping across the shoulders and hips, plus the clear belt which nips her in at the waist.

I also like the Cyndi Lauper-esqe hair and make-up. But I really didn’t like the Giuseppe Zanotti cut-out shoe boots.

OK I hate the boots. So out of touch with everything else that is going on, and such a sad note to end a perfect week.

Drew Barrymore arrived at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hollywood on Friday, looking so incredibly sophisticated.

This time evoking the strong 80s woman, with the large tinted Von Zipper Dharma shades, and eggplant Nina Ricci Pre-Fall 2009 long-sleeved dress, with a peplum at the waist.

I adore the Badgley Mischka silver brooch, which has an antique, vintage feel about it.

Her look was complete with a classic chic updo, and Gucci tortoise patent slingbacks.

Any other week Diane Kruger would have won Best Dressed of the Week, but from the start, only 2 woman realistically stood a chance of really deserving the title.

Drew swapped her laid back LA uniform of baggy jeans and t-shirts, in favour of a high maintenance looks we all approved of, with some dramatic red carpet appearances.

She kept us entertained with various looks, each with its own identity. We had varitey from her Alberta Ferretti flapper inspired 20s look, to the Andrew GN boho 60s look.

You loved her first stunning look of the week, which was a nude embellished Alberta Ferretti gown, which she wore to the Grey Gardens New York premiere.

It was so hard to pick which of Drew’s looks I loved the most, but in the end I opted for the gorgeous Andrew GN white maxi dress, with the beaded neckline – despite not really loving the shoe choice.

The 60s look so fits Drew’s personality, plus I loved voluminous bouffant, and sultry eyes.

From observing Drew’s body language and confident poses, it’s clear she loved her new looks just as much as we did.

But wait….there’s more.

Drew stepped out in two more fabulous looks this weekend. They will follow this post.
