28th Hong Kong Film Awards

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu wore a very voluminous black silk organza Oscar de la Renta Spring 2009 gown, with a tulle bodice, when stepped onto the red carpet.

I love the quiff in her updo, and the blood red floral appliqué on the hip.

She looks quite petite, but doesn’t get lost in the gown.

Hong Kong actress Monica Mok really made me swoon as she glided along the red carpet wearing a Christian Dior Spring 2009 taupe gown.

With the colour and lace details, the gown has romanticism that just warms my heart.

Both Jessica Alba and Tinsley Mortimer have worn the shorter version of this gown.

Chinese actress Sun Li wore gold sandals with her yellow Christian Dior Spring 2009 mini strapless dress.

I love her ivory necklace, which works with the seashell embellishments on her dress.

We have seen this dress many times, on Mischa Barton, and in editorials for Beyonce and Freida Pinto.

Chinese actress Tang Wei strikes a pose in this stunning red Valentino Spring 2009 one-shouldered gown.

I love the asymmetrical ruched bodice, and I’m pleasantly surprised that the gown doesn’t make her appear wider than she is. That was my worry, when I first saw the gowns from this collection.

A jeweled clutch and red strappy heels complete the look, but I’m not crazy about her hair.

You can tell just by looking at Hong Kong actress Prudence Liew, that she has a adventurous streak when it comes to fashion.

Prudence wore a lime green Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2008 Couture dress, with a peek-a-boo bra underneath. Her hair was style in cute pin curls, and she wore Gucci Spring 2009 platform heels which are very high on my wish list.

Chinese actress Zhou Xun wowed the crowds wearing a Chanel Fall 2008 Couture strapless black and white gown.

No accessories were needed, as the dress spoke for itself.

Taiwanese actress Lin Chi-ling wore a strapless metallic chiffon pleated Marchesa Resort 2009 gown, with embroidered neckline and waist.

Lin is so elegant. I love that she wore her hair up, and accessorized with few jewels.

Love, love, love all the dresses.

Maybe they don’t hve so many red carpets events in Asia as in U.S. but everytime you post pics from over there all the women seem so polished and like they really did an effort to look glam and chic.

Raquel, that’s exactly what I thought when I saw the Asian ladies – once in a while, but when – splendid!

American actresses really should take lessons from Asian actresses because the latter are so daring! They never stick to safe black dresses – instead, they try unusual colours and shapes and they end up looking great!

Just wanted to point out that Barbie Hsu is actually a Taiwanese actress, not Hong Kong. Love the dress though. And I’m glad you featured Asians on the site!

    Wow! They all look stunning.
Asian actresses sure know how to dress…

    Thanks for your help.

The picture agency got it wrong :)

I love featuring Asian events. Like Raquel says above, every time I feature them, everyone is perfect.

They are all gorgeous … especially the red Valentino dress… it’s so dreamy.

You didn’t mention my new fave actress Bonnie Xian and her gorgeous pink number though… Stunning!

European stars have nothing on them. And most of them wear dresses even better than models. They kick everybody’s ass and then some.
