Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: March 2009

Marisa Tomei wore a dynamic silver strapless Kai Kuhne Fall 2009 dress with contrasting black panels.

The longer length could so easily look dowdy, but this striking number is certainly far from that.

I can imagine this dress looking better in a shorter length though.

The Victoria Beckham dress collection was well represented at this event.

Brooke Shields wore a black strapless dress from the Spring 2009 collection, with black peep-toes.

I love the well tailored bodice, and the belt she added.

We all know how much Victoria Beckham randomly wears gloves with her ensembles, so it’s quite ironic that Debi Mazar chose to wear leather gloves with a cobalt blue dress from Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2009 collection.

The accessories are overkill, but I love Debi in this dress despite you all agreeing with me that Kelly Ripa wore this dress better.

Mandy Moore works a bright red Miu Miu dress teamed with black, triple strap heels and a matching clutch.

I love the puffball sleeves, but overall I’m not stoked.

Maybe if Jewel spent one night at home, her leg would heal faster.

I will guess some of you won’t like that Lara Bingle wore a head-to-necklace-to-clutch-to-toe Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 look.

I agree she could have broken it up a little, but I do love this purple and orange striped sweater with gold mini-skirt, and Spicy heels look. She really stood out at this event.

She was so chic, and perfectly co-ordinated.

I love Dannii Minogue’s warrior princess look, with the silver embellished fingerless PVC gloves.

I would have preferred a pair of really fierce gladiators, or edgy Nicholas Kirkwood-type heels with her silver J’Aton Couture dress.

The black peep-toes Louboutin’s are such a safe choice, for such an edgy futuristic couture dress.

Red carpet host Audrina Patridge, arrived wearing a black strapless Valentino Red dress, with Balmain Crystal embellished studded sandals.

She later changed before entering the press room. On this occasion she sparkled in a gold paillette covered Alberto Makali dress.

MTV presenter Ruby Rose, rolled out the carpet from the back of her dress to kick start this event.

Her actual dress was a gold mini dress, as seen above with Audrina.

Ruby’s hair is identical to the look Rihanna sported to the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.

I was worried Australian designer Collette Dinnigan wasn’t going to be represented on the red carpet, until I saw Jessica Mauboy arrive wearing a Fall 2009 sheer mini dress, with embroidered lace details, and an embellished skirt.

The singers look was complete with YSL trib two’s, and a silver Prada paillette clutch.

I’m really not fond of Delta Goodrem’s hair extensions, because they’re too obvious. A layered look would have graduated her hair to be less conspicuous.

Any way onto the dress. Delta wore a forest green and brown maxi by Australian designer Alex Perry. The maxi looks very elegant on her tall and slender frame.

Duffy really should have saved this look for an art gallery opening or something equally less rock n’ roll.

What happen to her?

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz wear matching black looks.

A gorgeous Jessica Alba stepped out on the red carpet last night, looking divine wearing a burnt-orange and black sequined one-shouldered Narciso Rodriguez Resort 2009 dress.

I adore the orange against her skin.

Although I’m not a fan of tights on the red carpet, it works with the colour-blocking on her dress.

Jessica added a lot of pizazz to her look with sparkling statement chandelier earrings, and a dazzling embellished Roger Vivier clutch.

Dani Stahl’s black Versace Spring 2009 strapless mini dress had multiple zip details, and a ruffled hemline.

The NYLON Style Director’s look was complete with fuchsia pink Christian Louboutin Very Galaxy platform pumps.

The gold Very Galaxy heels may be an obvious choice, but I would have preferred them to go with her black and gold look.

Now this is a look that really should have been worn without tights.

Julia Restoin Roitfeld’s aqua Balmain strapless mini dress, with criss-cross embellishments is very much muted with the tights don’t you think?

Leigh Lezark wore a stunning body-contouring black lace Chanel Resort 2009 dress, which has a nude underlay to give a sheer illusion.

The DJ/model opted to wear her dress without the patent black belt which was presented on the runway. A small box clutch, and black peep-toes complete the look.

Fuchsia pink is very much the favoured colour by Tinsley Mortimer at the moment, as this is the second time in a row, and third time within 2 months, she has worn the stand out colour.

On this occasion she wore a Christian Dior Spring 2009 mini strapless dress, with matching toe and nail polish.

Her look was complete with another one of her self designed Samantha Thavasa clutches.

The yellow and pink, goes a lot better than the previous green and pink.

Milla Jovovich looked like a sexy seductress in her rich, velvet Prada dress.

I love her elegance, the side-sweeping curls and the jewels. This is a perfect look for her.

VH1 Save The Music Foundation, LA

Jordin Sparks was radiant wearing a BCBG Max Azria chiffon maxi dress, with a pleated bodice.

The maxi ombre dress has a very bohemian feel to it. I love the ocean feel of the sea green and blue colours.

This is a fabulous dress, I really love it.

Singer Sara Bareilles’ Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent print belted wrap dress was slightly less informal, but she still looks fantastic.

In the long shot, the dress looks to be covered in black polka dots, but in the close-up, you can see the fish-print.

Sara’s look was complete with strappy sandals.

The Opening Of Annenberg Space For Photography, LA

Courtney Love is rock chick chic personified, wearing a black studded Lanvin Fall 2007 dress.

Kate Mara’s pink Dior dress is incredibly cute and delicate, with it’s ruffled bodice, and embroidered skirt.

Nice look, shame about the heavy black clutch.

Rachel Zoe And Decadestwo Charity Benefit, LA

What a refreshing changed to see Nicole Richie in something that’s not a maxi dress, nor boho inspired.

Nicole wore a taffeta pleated black mini skirt, which was very poufy, and did a good job of hiding her baby bump.

A printed scarf, white sleeveless top and YSL Trib Two’s completed the look.

Rachel Zoe exits her car gracefully, wearing a black jumpsuit, and pair of those incredible Louis Vuitton Fall 2008 two-tone platforms.

The Stylista also carried a lust worthy Hermes Medor clutch, and wore a large gold and silver link necklace.

Perry Reeves’ emerald green mini Dior dress with a bow and pleated skirt detail, is complimented with a very large matching ring.

Figures Of Speech: Fundraising Gala, London

Each item in the House of Holland Fall 2009 collection was striped.

So it was easy for me to recognise both Pixie Geldof’s wooly mammoth coat and long sleeved dress.

Considering Pixie fancies herself as a ‘wild child’. I’m surprised she picked the safest colours.

At Lanvin’s London boutique opening party, I am glad these two ladies opted for the most vibrant pieces.

Yasmin le Bon wore a three-tone blue one-shouldered Lanvin Spring 2009 dress.

She thankfully kept her accessories to a minimum, because this dress has a beautiful bouquet of floral embellishments that speak for themselves.

I love pink embellishments on the skirt, as they really pop against the navy blue. Her nude satin pumps completed the look.

Model Anouck Lepère wore a stunning nude Lanvin Spring 2009 strapless dress, which had glittering leopard print.

I like that Anouck wore her dress with a belt, to give her dress more shape, and her red double t-bar pumps were the perfect finishing touch.

Victoria Beckham’s first collection was such a hit, that is sold out within minutes in store and on Net-A-Porter.com.

The collection is now being worn on the red carpet, and cobalt blue sheath dress she named Lombez, is so hot, that two fabulous ladies wore it yesterday.

Kelly Ripa took the day shift, wearing this stunning sheath whilst filming a commercial in New York. She wore her dress with pointy black pumps.

Debi Mazar obviously hadn’t seen the pictures of Kelly earlier in the day, because she took the night shift.

At the LA Launch Party for LATISSE, Debi jazzed up the dress with a pair of leather gloves, black pumps, and a blue and black trimmed bag.

Both women look outstanding, but I love the striking blue with Kelly blonde hair, so she wins for me.
