Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: March 2009

20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, New York

Vanessa Williams continues to astound me on the red carpet.

Some would say a woman of her age shouldn’t wear this Matthew Williamson silk asymmetric drape dress, but I say boo to that, because she is wearing it a lot better than girls half her age could.

Fierce, and she knows it. Love it, love her.

OMG, I didn’t know Ana Ortiz was expecting.

My isn’t she glowing in this white off-the-shoulder dress?

Tyra Banks’ Georges Chakra couture tuxedo shows off a much slender frame.

Portia de Rossi and Ellen Degeneres pose with their awards in the press room.

Ellen in a navy blue chic suit with comfortable sneakers, and Portia wore a strapless black Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2009 dress with Stella McCartney mesh basket sandals.

23rd Genesis Awards, LA

Ginnifer Goodwin looks so dreamy in her nude sequined April, May dress with a pretty, ruched organza detail cascading down the front.

Accessories were kept to a minimum, with a stunning pair of Daniel Swarovski statement earrings, a gold shimmering clutch and pointy heels.

She looks so elegant, and so feminine, but like you, I wish she crack a smile once in a while.

Best look of this event.

Emily Deschanel sprung into spring wearing a fresh, citrus orange satin shift dress.

Stunning gold accessories, and black pumps complete her look.

Tiffany Fallon wore a black top under her plunging Alexander McQueen cap sleeve jumpsuit.

Maggie Q red carpet appearance are now few and far between, but she still knows how to make an impact. The actress wore a dangerously deep plunging orange jersey BCBG dress, which nears her belly button.

2009 Empire Awards, London

Gemma Arterton had one good week, then reverted back to what we have come to expect from her – a complete and utter mess.

I will only assume she didn’t look in the mirror once she put on this off-the-shoulder Halston Spring 2009 dress, because it’s unflattering, and totally washes her out.

OK, ankle boots are the new red carpet trend, but they’re so wrong with this dress.

Olga Kurylenko who won Best Newcomer at this awards do, wore a very uninspiring all black ensemble.

“Monsters vs. Aliens” South Korea Premiere

Han Ye-Seul stepped in for Reese Witherspoon, wearing a nude Fendi Spring 2009 dress. It’s so pretty, and looks so delicate against her pale skin.

The floral appliqué’s add some texture to the dress, which she wears with nude strappy sandals.

L’Etoile nightclub, Paris

Dita von Teese enjoys a night out wearing a emerald green satin Malandrino Fall 2008 dress, with matching heels.

The plunge-neck dress has a tulip skirt, and a black belt with a green marble buckle. Her look is complete with trademark red lips and nails, plus a Christian Louboutin shoe clash clutch.

If you’ve dreamed about having Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding gown, you would have been happy to know that Net-A-Porter.com uploaded it onto their website this morning.

The bad news is, it’s already sold-out, on both the US and international site.

The stunning champagne silk Vivienne Westwood Gold Label Lily wedding gown, has a built-in corset, a puffy skirt with an asymmetrical hem, a silk faille underskirt, and a peaked sweetheart neckline.

Perfect for your special day.

Net-A-Porter.com may get more stock in at a later date, so do keep checking.

After the Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards, Ashley Tisdale skipped over town to attend Perez Hilton’s birthday party.

Still wearing the same open toe booties from the awards do, Ashley changed out of her cute Akiko Ogawa dress, to something more edgy.

From her whole look, I really loved her A.L.C. Motorcycle jacket. It went with Ashley’s wannabee rock chick vibe, which included her white Siwy Hannah slim jeans, and her ripped tee. Kate Moss would applaud her efforts.

I have never been a fan of white jeans, but these I love.

Amanda Bynes’ fuschia pink dress really showed off her tan.

I can’t talk about that hair as it drives mental, but I will point out, that whilst applying her tan, she forgot to do her hands. Ooops.

I love Paris Hilton’s black studded Giusppe Zanotti booties, but I’m not crazy about this hard edge look.

I prefer her wearing cutesy dresses, but I guess this look is right for this occasion, even though the skirt sits a little high for my liking.

Off-topic – Am I the only one very suspicious about this Doug Reinhardt guy?

I don’t think this jumpsuit is doing Kim Kardashian any favours. She appears wider than what she really is. Plus the shape and size of the belt just doesn’t work.

Before today, I was totally in love with that Prada python clutch. The lust factor has faded somewhat, now I have seen Heidi Montag carrying.

The LBD is as you would expect – revealing. And her cream platform heels are from the Gucci Spring 2009 collection.

I don’t quite understand why Aubrey O’Day is pouting so much, she already has enough collagen in her lips to fill a kids size swimming pool.

As you would expect the dress is hideous, and her choice of Christian Louboutin short Tina fringe pumps complete this monstrosity.

Emmy Rossum really stands out from this crowd. I feel like she is doing community service.

She sticks to her usual style of wearing a cute unoffensive dress, which shimmers so brightly.

As I had said in a previous post, Hayden Panettiere was the first to wear this gorgeous Akika Ogawa dress, with YSL pumps.

She looked outstanding when she attended the Green Inaugural Ball in Washington back in January, although the dress is very much squashing her lady lumps.

Ashley Tisdale posed with a lot of attitude when wearing the same dress to the Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards.

Despite this being a re-run at a major event, Ashley wins this for me.

Back in 2007, Blake Lively was constantly wowing us on the red carpet. So much so, I named her One-To-Watch for 2008.

Back then this effort may not even have made the Best Dressed list, but when you put into context the unpredicted disappointment of Blake on the red carpet in 2008/09, this is a miracle.

I wouldn’t say this is a sympathy vote, more like a “thank god she’s back/please keep it up” vote.

Fingers crossed.

AnnaLynne McCord & Lilia Luciano were my next favourites.
