Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: March 2009

With a red sunset backdrop, Giambattista Valli’s Fall 2009 collection was a sophisticated collection of very modern pieces.

The two main themes were ankle length bell shaped skirts, and peacock feathers.

The skirts were paired with cropped jackets, blouses, and vest tops. Whilst the peacock feathers were printed, or real peacock feathered skirts, bodices, coats and jackets.

Also presented were coats, which were A line shaped, or funnel necked. High-waisted pants, metallics, bold checks, and draped dresses made up the rest of the collection.

Aside from the peacock, the colour palette was made up of petrol blues, teal blues, black, white burnt reds and oranges.

I would love to see the petrol blue and dark brown peacock printed gown on the red carpet, event the bell shaped skirts would work, on the right person.

Victoria Beckham in currently in Milan, since her husband has extended his loan spell with Italian soccer team AC Milan until June.

Last night the gorgeous couple were spotted out at La Risacca restaurant. She was wearing a dress that was surprisingly not from her own collection.

The Alexander McQueen black and white print dress, you might recognise, as it’s the same dress author Sophie Kinsella wore recently.

Victoria completed her look with Miu Miu heels, and a black headband.

The Alexander McQueen striped column dress with padded angular shoulders, is available from the US Net-A-Porter.com site for $1,595.

Victoria Miu Miu’s are also available from Net-A-Porter’s US site for $695, and the international site for £357/€450.

International party girl, Mischa Barton was one of the many celebrities invited to attend the landmark Grand Opening of Atlantis, The Palm Resort, in Dubai last year.

She arrived on the red carpet with designer Matthew Williamson, wearing a one-shouldered gown from his Fall 2008 collection.

The silk lame gown was stunning, with a floral print, which Mischa wore with a few gold accessories.

TV personality Cat Deeley made a cardinal sin, by wearing a re-run to the 2009 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. There is one thing you and I hate, and that’s re-run on big occasions. There should be no excuse.

But in saying that Cat does wear it better, because her hair is all pulled back, therefore you get to see the ruffled detail on her shoulder, which Mischa covers with her hair.

I still don’t get why this was presented with a coat on the runway.

Beth Ditto is fearless.

I have long been a supporter of Beth Ditto. She has no desire to be a size 0, she doesn’t hide behind black, plus she’s happy and secure about herself, and her size.

I have a Herve Leger dress, which I have worn once. I was so self conscious about wearing it, I never wore it again, because I felt really naked. So I have NOTHING but respect for Beth when she wore this dress to Stella McCartney’s Fall 2009 presentation this afternoon.

I know a lot of you will disagree with me.

Rock on Beth. Rock on.

Video Promo Shoot, New York

With hips like Beyonce Knowles you wouldn’t think she would feel the need to exaggerate them, but that’s what happened, when she stepped into this gorgeous nude Thierry Mugler gown.

I love the gown itself, mostly because of the embellishments, but I don’t think it’s not particularly flattering on her. Maybe it’ll look better on film.

The video shoot is reportedly going to be used during her upcoming tour, which starts on March 26 in Canada.

I can’t wait to see what she wears for her tour, as Thierry Mugler designed the 58-piece wardrobe for B and her dancers.

“I Love You, Man”, New York Screening

Becki Newton always brings plenty of sunshine to any red carpet event. On this occasion she wore a geometric print Matthew Williamson Resort 2009 strapless dress, with silver strappy heels.

The heels work so well with this dress. I am happy no tights, nor black heels were involved in this look.

Rashida Jones does herself a disservice wearing this unflattering Phi Pre-Fall 2009
tunic dress.

The pink is nice, but the shape does nothing for her, an engulfs her small frame.

Her look is complete with Jimmy Choo open-toe booties.

Liverpool Fashion Fest Spring/Summer 2009, Mexico

Julianne Moore is also ready for the summer wearing a green and white print sheath dress, with black strappy sandals.

I almost didn’t i-D this 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2009 fringed dress on Rachel Bilson, because it’s shorten, and styled differently from the runway.

Rachel was spotted wearing this dress yesterday, when she arrived home with fiancé Hayden Christensen, after running errands.

This is quite a dress to be running errands in. Imagine going to a grocery store, leaning over to get a ripe banana, and all that fringe details getting in the way. That’s gotta be annoying.

I was loving this look, until I panned down to the grey tights, and the clunky Christian Louboutin Orlan double platform T-straps booties, but at least she looks interesting, and isn’t wearing the standard Ugg boots and Juicy Couture tracksuit off-duty uniform.

eLuxury are selling this tunic dress in black – which I prefer – for $695.
