Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Monthly Archives: March 2009

Actress Melissa George wore this edgy Todd Lynn Fall 2008 dress, when she arrived at the Annual Oxfam party in Hollywood last year.

This sexy dress has an open back with a low v-neck, and fur sleeves, which Melissa wore with black pumps.

Angie Harmon wore the same dress with her hair tied back, and black peep-toes, to the Diamonds in Africa Benefit, last month.

Although I prefer Angie’s peep-toes, I love Melissa’s hair, and this dress suits her mystic. Angie is a bit miss goodie-two-shoes for this dress.

For some unknown reason, there’s not one single full length picture of Katie Holmes at the Japanese premiere of Valkyrie, and I have looked everywhere.

It seems like the photographers were more interested in her hair extensions, than her Jason Wu Fall 2009 dress.

I would have loved to have seen this dress full length, because this is a first time in a LONG time that Katie hasn’t dressed like a 60 year old woman – no offense.

The two tone strapless dress is colourful, young, fun and to be honest totally unexpected, plus I love the embellished bodice.

My hopes for the full length is that she is not wearing tights, nor kitten heels.

Hopefully someone will upload a full length soon, and I will update this photo.

Onto her hair. Katie arrived in Japan on Sunday with what’s become her trademark bob. Cut to today, and she hit the red carpet, with a fresh new ‘do.

As much as I liked the sophisticated bob, the longer locks I’m in love with. The reason is because I am hoping this will be a kick-start of a fresh new look for Katie.

It’s time she started dresses her age again.

Here hoping.

Last month in West Hollywood Lindsay Lohan was papped running some errands.

I would more likely to run errands in jeans and a simple tee, but when you’re Lindsay, the possibility of being papped is high, so she put on some very expensive threads.

With her black booties, aviators and grey skinny jeans, she wore a white Balmain studded lapel leather jacket (€3,276).

I am not normally a fan of white jackets, especially white leather jackets, but I adore this. It’s so cool, so Balmain.

Under her jacket, Lindsay wore a marble print Alexander Wang tank (£175).

This is a surprisingly good look, for someone who normally looks like she’s pulled from a hedge backwards.

Mischa Barton walked the red carpet at The P&G Beauty and Grooming Awards held at the Freemasons Hall in London over the weekend.

The sometimes actress and handbag designer opted for a flapper style look, wearing a taupe and white ombre fringed dress from the Alberta Ferretti Spring 2009 collection.

Her look was complete with two-tone lace up peep-toe booties and a Sergio Rossi clutch, which worked perfectly with her dress.

Recently Mischa announced on her blog, that she had broken up with her boyfriend Luke Pritchard from the Kooks. I would suggest she gets over her broken heart with some retail therapy.

Who knows if it’s the overtly sexy nature of the Alexander Wang embroidered mini dress, the influence of Alice Dellal and Amber Rose, or the way it looked on the runway model, but this Alexander Wang dress sold out within minutes of being added to Net-A-Porter’s international site this morning.

Does this confirm Amber’s status as a new ‘style icon’, or is it just good timing on her part?

I would stay very good timing. Miss thing has a long way to go before she gets to fashion icon status imo.

French President’s Official Visit, Mexico

French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife, Carla Bruni, attended an official welcoming ceremony at the National Palace, in Mexico this week.

The First Lady of France’s style is undeniably chic, as she injects her unique brand of sensuous femininity without appearing too sexy, wearing a blush-pink Dior skirt suit.

I’m adoring everything about this look apart from those darn kitten heels. I understand that she doesn’t want to overshadow her husband. But no matter what she wears, she will, so she should bin the boring heels, and bring out the killer heels.

“17 Again” Sydney Premiere

Taylor Swift walked the red carpet in a beautiful white Rachel Gilbert Amber halter neck dress, with gold Fendi heels.

I adore the white and diamante embellished details around the bust.

I’m very surprised she’s not a silver or gold metallic dress, which she tends to favour.

BAFTA Video Games Awards 2009

Kirsty Gallacher wore a blue body-con halter Preen dress, which was worn by Rihanna last month.

This is a strong look, which needs sexy figure, and great shoes. Kirsty fails with the shoes.

This dress deserves more than plain black pumps. Rihanna showed us that with her Nicholas Kirkwood strappy heels.

Monsters Vs. Aliens Premiere, Germany

When Reese Witherspoon got divorced, she started to explore her sexier side. Now I feel she has reverted back to her old self, which isn’t a bad thing.

She looked very sophisticated wearing a teal Valentino satin dress, with an embellished collar, and grey waist band to this event. Her look was complete with matching satin bow peep-toes and flawless make-up.

“The Great Buck Howard” New York Screening

Emily Blunt’s grey suit, is very ‘office interview’. It doesn’t have the same charm as Amy Adams’ white suit yesterday.

Her silvery grey satin blouse seems to be fraying as well, just to further put me off this look.

Selita Ebanks wears an oversized ivory blazer, which almost totally covers her cute sequined mini dress, which really spoils the look for me.

What I am lusting after, are her bubblegum pink Christian Louboutin Decoltissimo pointed pumps.

“Duplicity” London Film Premiere

Yet another black ensemble for Julia Roberts. I would like act surprised, but like Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, she’s been here before.
